So, after dodging Paulding County for a few months due to their whole system failing in December, we decided to give them another shot since we heard that they were doing maintenance work on a few of their sirens in early April. We decided to leave our audio recorders at a few sirens throughout the county, including Charloe and Auglaize Township, to see if they had by chance been fixed. We ended up trying the bus depot 'bolt again, because we saw that it had rotated a little bit since the last time we drove by it, but that ended up being the wrong move, because it failed yet again.
After the failure, we drove to retrieve our recorders and see if anything had worked. We saw that Auglaize had not rotated, and a quick listen to the recording confirmed that it didn't do anything, so they must have shut it off for the time being. Once we got to Charloe, we saw that it had rotated, but that didn't mean much since it continued rotating after its "death" in November. As we listened to the recording, I was fully expecting to hear the buzz of the contactor again and nothing else, but then I heard the blower kick on, and unlike in November, it sounded fine now, which surprised me a bit. As we continued listening, Tommy and I were both absolutely dumbfounded once we realized that the chopper was somehow going too. However, this siren doesn't seem to have been fixed; in fact, the chopper now sounds worse than ever before. And the ultimate cherry on top; it skipped cancel tones and went for full alert. At this point, Deathbolt has defied all logic and reasoning, because we were fully convinced it was dead after November 8, but apparently not.
This audio is technically from one of Tommy's recorders, but he let me edit and upload it, so shoutout to him. I ended up putting a compressor effect on it to make the volume more consistent throughout the recording. Anyway, despite the odds, it looks like Deathbolt lives on, at least for a little while longer. Enjoy!
