The 4Runner SR5 emblems are gone; a simple method on how to remove car them. There are several way to debadge a vehicle, but this one I use most. Yes, you can use an eraser wheel as well. There are times you may also need to wet sand, compound, and polish, but you need to understand what kind of paint you have, the products you are using, and the potential effects they may have on your paint. To remove the glue put some tape over it, add some heat with a blowdryer and then pull the tape off. Repeat until all glue is gone

Yep, 3M and Adam's -- good pix. WD40 is gentle, non-aggressive solvent for removing goo too.

Nicely done! Would that 3M rubbing compound work on pinstriping and scratches from branches?

It may require light wet sanding with a microfine paper (ex. 1600) if the straight compound doesn't get the result achieved. If you run the backside or your fingernail over the scratch and do not feel a noticeable snag, the compound may indeed work. If you feel a groove, perhaps not and may have to try the microfine sandpaper then compound.

What polish do you recommend?

I use Adams or Chemical Guys, typically but any good quality product will work. For compound I use 3M. I hit it with compound first if necessary then finish it with polish.

Any tips for ghosted letters? Just polish it?

Sorry, I've been traveling and just saw this. You would need to probably do a light wet sand with 1500 microfine sandpaper or similar then use a good compound with accompanying pad. Then polish. If you have not done this before, I would have a professional do it. If done improperly you could burn through the clearcoat.

It should not cause any issues if you do not let it stay in contact for an extended period of time. Apply then remove. Test an area 1st if any doubts

I have a 2023 SR5. I'm considering doing this with mine but my 4 runner is black. Do you think black paint might be a mistake to try this on?

Sorry for the late reply, I was off grid. If the vehicle has had prolonged sun exposure, there is a chance that it may show. Black shows everything. if you don't have fading, you may still need to do a wet sand and polish for black to be perfect, just be prepared for that. Worst case, you can reapply them with double sided tape.
