BUT! ...The first single, "Time Will Reveal" was huge....hugehugeHUGE!! ...didn't leave the R&B charts for SEVEN MONTHS!! - ...But this tune was the follow-up, Spring, 1984; It peaked at #11 R&B, and the LP just sold...and sold....and SOLD! ...El DeBarge (the 'brother in the middle'), became THE breakout star, AND was pushed to be the lead.....and LEAVE..... ...The next LP (1985's "Rhythm Of The Night") caused the Group to break up because of MUCHO behind-the-scenes DRAMA (I'll leave others to comment); The actual ALBUM COVER was to blame..the label wanted El to be seen as 'The lead', so they blew up a HUGE shot of him, and small, tiny shots of the other family members! ...That ROYALLY p--ed them off, and they started fighting..... -...El remains an INCREDIBLE Singer, and the "Special Way" LP is a CLASSIC.....remember this, Miss Empress...

Hmmm this song is one of the soundtracks of my early 20’s. DeBarge was one of the great family groups of the80s that were often overlooked. You should check out one of their brother Chico’s earliest hits “Talk To Me Baby” and the group Switch featuring Bobby DeBarge who was once romantically involved with LaToya Jackson.

El Debarge had more Crossover Hits in 80's...than Luther Vandross had in his whole career/JUST SAYING...Much of Luther's success was on the R&B Charts.
