I would like to thank channels like South Asian Arts , darbar festival and Meru records for sharing such brilliant music . Debasmita is an enchanting sarod player and never knew she @4:13 sings so well.
I have no words to praise the performance. I feel it like some one taking out pure silk thread ,colour it to the best, waving it to the best design and then present a perfect silk "Sari"
Wonderful performance that can't imazine . She is in one side a great maker of sarod recital and in other side a best singer also . So I am astonished by her gorgeous creation .
Debasmita what you played and sung is right from the heart and touches the heart ... So deep and mesmerising is your music ... Little did I know when I met you , how wonderful a musician you are ... No words ...
Not only is she inspiring as a dedicated, passionate, utterly mesmerizing sarod player, but now she reveals herself in all the splendour of a classical singer as well
Like a true artist she keeps her feet covered. A very small but such a symbolic and respectful gesture. And what a performance by both the masters. Regaled 🙏🙏
Bhai ye Debasmita sarod ke saath itna achha vocalist hai......saarey naami-girami ustads bhi iss ka muqabla nahin kar saktey.... I haven't heard such a wonderful singing and its translation on sarod till now from anybody else ......I wish her to be a great Ustad (ni).
Have been looking for this full clip for over a year now. Thank you South Asian Arts UK for this wonderful share of a part of Debasmita's Debut Tour of UK accompanied by the Brilliant Gurdain on the Tabla.Been following some of the comments as well. Just a couple of requests to the really learned musical souls here, from a total non-musical entity, like myself :1. While commenting and suggesting, may we choose / rephrase our words in a manner that it brings the positive vibes and encourage all our young musical maestros.2. Debasmita carries the rich musical legacy of generations in her own family and she is the torch bearer of one of the renowned Gharanas of Sarod - The Senia-Shahjahanpur Gharana, blessed by the affectionate tutelage of the Legendary Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta ji himself. She is a Senior Scholar and a Distinguished Alumni of one of the most prestigious and acclaimed musical schools in the world - The ITC Sangeet Research Academy. So definitely, she knows her way, during her performance.3. I've heard many learned people narrate that Ustad Baba Allauddin Khan Sahab, Ustad Vilayat Khan Sahab, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan Sahab, Pandit Ravi Shankar Ji, Vidushi Maa Annapurna ji and even her Guru Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta ji used to impart training my singing mainly.4. Rangi Saari Gulabi Chunariaya is one of the most well known and popular Hori(Dadra) in India and around. But when you perform it in front of audiences, who are not very well accustomed, it does make sense, to sing it before playing the instrumental version. I believe that it could put your audiences at ease and the level of musical connect between the musician and his / her audience becomes much more intimate. The same is true when you tend to play a composition on your instrument based on a well known bandish. Even Ustad Sujat Khan has sung this composition while playing. Debasmita, in addition to being a fabulous young sarod maestro of our times, is also an excellent singer.5. Our Hindusthani Classical Music allows lot of freedom - Every maestro is free to understand, interpret, muse and deliver in his / her own style, within the generalized framework of the Raag concerned. This upaj / improvisation is the backbone of the flourishing colours of Indian Classical Music. So let our maestros render / perform in his / her own style and comfort level, as the situation demands at that particular instance.Best regards to you all 🙏
Listening to your vocal first time sis. First you feel the raga inside and put it into sarod 100%. Its like a meditation. :) ♥ Gurdain always at his best.
The adverts are a shockingly clumsy and inappropriate intrusion on this beautiful music. Clumsy, ignorant and inept, You tube. That aside, this music is like stepping through the doorway to another place and time. It is gorgeous, powerful. Being English, I am not able to speak the language, but that just adds to the mystique. I would really love to know where in England, I could hear and see this music, or music like it performed live. I think that would be a moving experience.
If I am not making a mistake, then I think Darbar Festival is one such event that you can attend. Please see the following link. I hope this helps. Regards from India. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darbar_festival
An incredible piece of music, interrupted abruptly by 2 loud commercials, one at 1:23 and another at 5:23. I stopped listening at that point. Is this piece available for listen or purchase on a different platform?
Debasmita di.....😊😊 M jst no one to comment on tomar playing....bt still saying khub sundor bajale....bt gaiteo paro eta jantam na.... Asha kori sir bhalo achen....amr pronam guruji k...🙏
It would have been better if she had played the whole piece without the vocal interludes. She had started the piece with a more wistful Pahari, but attached the dhun bandish from Shujaat khan's rendering of it. She should have continued with her own bandish to suit her wistful introduction of the piece. Anyway, a very inspired lady.
It is actually played by the finger tips. Sarod players need to take special care of the nails on the first two fingers of their left hand and if you look at their left hand, you will see the string mark on the nail, creating a small dent. 🙏
Ms debasmith you have played sarod in very good mood and also sinhs very beautiful, butt your camera man didn't make your this vedio very professionally. He never shows your closeup that how your fingers on the strings.
