See our playlist "Dealing with Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower Society" with over 40 videos at • Dealing with Jehovah's... . Two Jehovah's Witnesses had been confounding & confusing students at a Probe Center Christian study facility across the street from a major university campus for several weeks and as a result of this the director of the facility called in Larry Wessels (RU-vid channel: CANSWERSTV at / canswerstv; websites: www.BIBLEQUERY.ORG, www.HISTORYCART.COM & www.MUSLIMHOPE.COM) to deal with them. Larry Wessels is joined by Probe Center student Curt Besselman as they engage in theological discussion with Jehovah's Witnesses Paul & Jason. During the public discussion numerous students sat nearby as well as the director of the center & this recording was made for the tape library. Following this debate the Jehovah's Witnesses never returned & Larry was invited to begin teaching counter cult apologetics semester long classes to the students at the study center.
The debate began with a discussion of the Jehovah's Witness bible called "The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures" which was translated by men who were not Greek or Hebrew scholars but were rather members of the "Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses." From there the discussion progressed to why the Jehovah's Witnesses insist on the divine tetragrammaton ((from Greek τετραγράμματον, meaning "[a word] having four letters") refers to the name of the God of Israel YHWH (Hebrew: יהוה‎) used in the Hebrew Bible) being translated as only "Jehovah" (a transliteration which first appeared in the 1530 Tyndale Bible). Next, the discussion touched on the biblical doctrine of the Trinity & angels. The many erroneous false prophecies of the Jehovah's Witnesses were next examined in view of their prediction of 1975 as Armageddon & the end of 6000 years of earthly existence since the creation of Adam. The Jehovah's Witness denial of life saving blood tranfusions which has resulted in the deaths of many JWs & their kids is discussed followed by the flickering "New Light" of Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society ever changing back & forth theological doctrines. An example of unstable & shifting Jehovah's Witness doctrine follows:
Will the men of Sodom be resurrected?
The Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society says:
YES ("Zion's Watch Tower and Herald of Christ's Presence," July 1879, page 8)
NO ("The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom," June 1, 1952, p. 338)
YES (The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom," Aug. 1, 1965, p. 479)
NO ("The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom," June 1, 1988, p. 31)
YES (1988 book "Insight on the Scriptures," p. 985)
NO (1988 book "Revelation: Its Grand Climax At Hand!", p. 273). In fact, as pointed out in "Our Kingdom Ministry" (December, 1989, p. 7) early printings of the book "You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth" say 'YES' but later printings of the same book say 'NO' (pp. 178-179).

John 14:6, "6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
2 Timothy 4:2-5, " 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."

Okay so here (21:54):the JW quickly declines to address John 1:1. Next the JW admits that he knows jack about Greek here (22:23) And finally, at this point the JW somehow miraculously turned into a some sort of Greek scholar who has done extensive research on the matter (25:34)-- J'Dubbs.. Silly rabbits lying and fabrications are for kids.

I too was a J W for 17 years approx! Thanks to Jesus Christ he lead me out of the False Prophets Organisation many years ago!I saw many of the changes made when they brought out the New World Translation and especially at John ! vr 1 But I did not understand why at the time? It is so sad that they are being mislead as to who really died for them! "That Jesus Christ is Jehovah"May God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit

Nostolgic to say the least. When this was taped the JWs had a different interpretation of 'this generation'. Here in this tape they clearly say that they don't expect this world to go on for more than 20 years. These words were said more than 20 years ago. Another failed prophecy.

@ 8:05 I'm surprised they didn't run out at this point screaming "Apostate literature!" "Apostate literature!" @ 9:30 Okay, now their true character starts to come out at this point. They are starting to become combative. They know you are speaking truth.

*@ **59:48** At this point Jehovah's Witness member Jason says "this publication was written by men." Yet, back at **44:28** the other Witness identified their organization and Jehovah as one entity. They are truly lost. The psychological case studies that can be done with Jehovah's Witnesses would be fascinating!!*

You have valid points here. Like the Mormons (for every Mormon who converts to being a Baptist, 24 Baptists convert to being a Mormon) the Jehovah's Witnesses target anyone who will listen to them, particularly anyone who claims to have some sort of belief in the Bible thus they are "active in altering views of bible believers" as you say. You are right about their Watchtower leaders as well & that's why we have a 4 hour video series on them entitled "Deceived Deceivers" - see our JW playlist.

U can give JW's all the evidence, all the history of their organization, the falseness of their translation, and they will still, blatantly disregard the TRUTH, for a blind obedience to the organization. But we must, always, be ready to give them the truth and pray GOD changes their hearts and minds.

Yes. Your description is spot-on correct in my opinion. When I heard the "So we do not interpret the Bible. ..." I couldn't help but think, "So, it is clear then, from scripture, and with no influence by men's interpretation, that the Scarlet Colored Wild Beast upon which the Harlot of Babylon the Great rides is the United Nations Organization?!" Yep, no mere man's interpretation here to be sure. Not to mention Christ's appointing the WTB&T in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1919 C.E. as his sole channel. !?!

Apparently the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of Jehovah's Witnesses has no fear of Revelation 22:18-19. The easiest way to demonstrate contradictions in the Jehovah's Witness New World Translation of the Bible is by contrasting it to the Watchtower 1969 Kingdom Interlinear Translation also published by them & also their original 1950 edition of the NWT which differs significantly from their more modern editions. By pitting their own translations against each other the Jehovah's Witnesses lose either way. I use my 1969 "K.I.T." (The JWs call it their "The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures" which has a purple cover but I've always referred to it as the "Purple People Eater" as a joke among my friends) & in meetings with JWs I have pointed out such passages as Acts 10:36, Colossians 2:6-12, Romans 1:20, Philippians 3:11 cross referenced to Philippians 1:19, 1 Peter 1:11, Revelation 3:14, Ephesians 3:19, Hebrews 12:9,23 etc. showing differences in their Greek renditions that differ from what their English NWT says. Of particular interest is their own violations of their own "rules" of translation given in both their "Forwards" of the KIT & NWT such as : examples of biased paraphrase in John 15:5,7 "in Christ," John 17:26, 2 Corinthians 5:19, Galatians 1:16, Romans 8:9-10; examples of non literal translation of English - Colossians 1:16 "other," Philippians 2:9 "other," Hebrews 9:27 "for all time;" not following their own rule of "assigning each word one meaning or definition: Matthew 25:46 "cutting off" cf Acts 4:21, Matthew 27:50 "yielded up his breath" cf Luke 23:46 "spirit" cf Hebrews 12:23 "spiritual lives;" Philippians 2:10-11 "Lord," but translated in Romans 14:11 as "Jehovah," see also John 1:1, John 8:58, Romans 10:12, Acts 12:23, Acts 4:12 & 1 Peter 3:15. Their NWT translates "torture stake" in Matthew 10:38 instead of the word "cross" but both the KIT & NWT would refute that in John 20:25 by the plural use of the word "nails" since you need "nails" for a cross (a nail for each hand) but only one nail for a "torture state" (one nail going through both hands at the same time) as they say (pages 1154-1155, KIT, 1969). I cover some of the above information in our videos "THE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES FRAUDULENT BIBLE: EVALUATING THE "NEW WORLD TRANSLATION" VERSE BY VERSE" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CtqstNm5WI4.html & "EXAMINING THE JEHOVAH'S WITNESS "NEW WORLD TRANSLATION" OF THE BIBLE" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oGT82qj4cj0.html. An internet search on "Contradictions in the New World Translation" will yield further results (such as www.eldaleonwhite.com/jw/jw3.pdf). For example I found the following useful information just doing a quick web search. Is The New World Translation Accurate? The New World Translation of The Holy Scriptures (NWT) is the main bible used by Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide. After only a casual reading of it, lovers of God’s Word will quickly realize its peculiarity. It has sent shivers down the backs of many well-known theologians and contemporary Greek scholars. Many proof texts Christians use to teach and defend the foundational truths of their faith are rendered quite differently in this translation. Often, the verses presented represent radical departures from orthodox Christian beliefs. However, just because something is different doesn’t mean that it is wrong. According to the bible, we need to test all things (1 Thess. 5:21). How can we test the accuracy of the NWT? Well, since the New Testament was originally written in Greek, we can compare the New Testament of the NWT to a widely recognized, accepted and scholarly Greek text. In fact, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society has already done that for us. In 1969 and again in 1985, the Watchtower printed and published the Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures (KIT). This book compares the NWT’s New Testament to the scholarly 1881 Westcott and Hort Greek text of the New Testament. The KIT is arranged so that the Greek text is on the left side of the page with the English rendering below it and the NWT is on the right side. According to the 1985 KIT on p. 5, the arrangement is beneficial because, “....the accuracy of any modern translation can be determined”. So, lets compare some verses in the KIT to see if the NWT is in fact accurate. Before we dig in, I want to refer to 2 statements found in the 1985 KIT. On p.9 it says, “We offer no paraphrase of the scriptures. Our endeavor throughout has been to give as literal a translation as possible ....”. And on p.10, “To each major word we have assigned one meaning and have held to that meaning as far as the context permitted”. So, with those statements in mind let’s check out the 1985 KIT. Scripture Verses: John 8:58 John 17:3 Hebrews 12:22-23 Philippians 2:9 Colossians 1:16-20 Colossians 2:9 John 1:1 Matthew 25:46 vs. Acts 4:21 Acts 11:14 Summary John 8:58 NWT- “Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to you, Before Abraham came into existence, I have been””. Literal Greek Text- “Said to them Jesus Amen amen I am saying to you Before Abraham to become I Am.” Why has the NWT violated their own standard and paraphrased the Greek words ego eimi (I AM) into I have been? After all, the NWT translates ego eimi accurately into I am in versus 18, 23, 24 and 28. To answer that question, one needs to read Exodus 3:13-14 in any approved bible translation. For example, in the King James Version (which Jehovah’s Witnesses used prior to 1950), Moses asks YHWH (LORD) what His name is. God’s answer is “I AM”. This presents a problem for the Watchtower, because Jesus is claiming to be the I AM, the Almighty God of the Old Testament. Notice the next verse in John 8:59, “Therefore, they picked up stones to hurl at him....”. The religious Jews of Jesus’ day knew very well who Jesus was claiming to be. They acted as if Jesus was a blasphemer (see Lev 24:16). Return to Scripture Verses John 17:3 NWT- “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” Literal Greek Text- “This but is the everlasting life in order that they may be knowing you the only true God and whom you sent forth Jesus Christ.” Notice the change? “They may be knowing you” has been translated into the NWT as, “taking in knowledge of you”. Witnesses will say that both wordings mean the same thing. However, this is not true. One may take in an abundance of knowledge about the president, for example, but never actually know him personally. The same is true of Christ. Many people know about Jesus but they don’t have a personal relationship with Him. Jesus actually spoke about this in Matthew 7:22-23. He said, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”. See also John 5:39-40. Why would the Watchtower want to distort the meaning of this text? Because by saying that eternal life comes by “taking in knowledge”, the Society keeps the Jehovah’s Witness dependent on them for salvation. Studying their literature becomes a matter of life and death and therefore, the Witness remains under the complete control of the Watchtower. Sadly, one never knows how much knowledge he must take in to gain everlasting life. Return to Scripture Verses Hebrews 12:22-23 NWT- “But you have approached a Mount Zion and a city of [the] living God, heavenly Jerusalem, and myriads of angels, in general assembly, and the congregation of the firstborn who have been enrolled in the heavens, and God the Judge of all, and the spiritual lives of righteous ones who have been made perfect.” Let’s look at the end of v. 23 in the Greek: Literal Greek Text- “....and to spirits of righteous (ones) having been perfected....” Why has the Watchtower again violated their own standard and paraphrased the word “spirits” from the Greek text into “spiritual lives” in the NWT? Because, since the text is clearly speaking of heaven, if the NWT used the accurate rendering “spirits”, it would conflict with their doctrine of soul sleep. Soul sleep is the belief that man does not possess an immaterial nature that survives the death of the physical body. The Watchtower teaches that once a man is dead, he remains unconscious in the grave until the future resurrection, which began, according to the Society, in 1918, when dead members of the anointed class (the 144,000) were raised into heaven as invisible spirits. However, the above verse clearly states that in the first century A.D., when it was written, there were already spirits of saved men in heaven. The doctrine of soul sleep can be refuted by many other scriptures such as Mt. 10:28, Jn. 11:25-26, 2 Co. 5:8, Rev. 6:9-11. Return to Scripture Verses Philippians 2:9 NWT- “For this very reason also God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every [other] name....” Literal Greek Text- “through which also the God him put high up over, and he graciously gave to him the name the over every name....” Why has the Watchtower inserted the word “other” in the NWT? Again, this conflicts with their theology that Jesus is a lesser being than that of the Father. If the word “other” is taken out of the text, the verse says that Jesus has been given the highest name in all the universe. This puts Jesus on a level equal with Jehovah God. Return to Scripture Verses Colossians 1:16-20 NWT- “because by means of him all [other] things have been created....all [other] things have been created through him....Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist....” Literal Greek Text- Suffice it to say that the word “other” is not found in the Greek text. Why has the Watchtower added the word other four times in the above passage? Without the word “other” present, the text says that Jesus is the Creator of all things. By sticking the word other in, Jesus becomes Jehovah’s “master worker” who was created by Jehovah and was then used to create all other things in existence. Interestingly, the very first edition of the NWT’s New Testament didn’t even bracket the word “other” to show that it was added to the text. Later editions became somewhat more honest. However, many times when the Watchtower quotes the above verses in their literature, they remove the brackets. We see that again, the Greek text contradicts the Watchtower’s own theology. Return to Scripture Verses Colossians 2:9 NWT- “....because it is in him that all the fullness of the divine quality dwells bodily.” Literal Greek Text- “....because in him is dwelling down all the fullness of the divinity bodily” Why has the Watchtower translated the word divinity as divine quality? Again, just as in John 8:58, the verse has been paraphrased to strip Jesus of His Deity. The Watchtower teaches that when Jesus walked on the earth, he was nothing more than a perfect man. His very essence or being was not divine, he only possessed the qualities of divinity. It is interesting that the 1969 KIT used the word godship instead of divinity in the literal Greek text, although the NWT on the right side still translated it “divine quality”. Although in Romans 1:20 when referring to the Father, the Watchtower translated the word “godship” in the Greek text into “Godship” in the NWT text. Does the words double-standard cross your mind? The fact that they changed the English word from godship in the 1969 version to divinity in the 1985 version is also revealing. On p.5 of the 1985 KIT, it says, “Between the lines of the Greek text will be found the word-for-word English translation of 1969”. However, we find an example here where it is not word-for-word from the 1969 translation. The Watchtower can’t even conform to their own standards. Return to Scripture Verses John 1:1 NWT- “In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.” Literal Greek Text- “ In beginning was the Word, and the Word was toward the God, and god was the Word.” Of all the scriptures in the NWT, this one in particular makes Christians cringe the most. The difference is obvious. Notice that their is no “a” in the Greek text before the last rendering of “god”. It has been inserted into the NWT. Why? The Watchtower argument from p.1139 of the 1985 KIT goes like this: “.... because the Greek word ....(theos) is a singular predicate noun occurring before the verb and is not preceded by the definite article.” What this means is that since the definite article, the, is before the first mention of God but not the second, and the verb, was, is after the second mention of god, then the rendering “a god” is justified. (If you’re thoroughly confused, don’t worry.) This is a perfect example of the Watchtower making up a grammatical rule and only applying it when it fits their theology. If they applied this rule to the rest of the New Testament, the outcome would be ridiculous. The following are some examples of how a few scriptures would turn out in the book of John if they applied their rule consistently: John 1:12 “However, as many as did receive him, to them he gave authority to become a god’s children.” John 1:13 “and they were born, not from blood or from a fleshly will or from man’s will, but from a god’s.” John 1:18 “No man has seen a god at any time....”. John 3:2 “....Rabbi, we know that you as a teacher have come from a god....” Obviously, the Watchtower has gone to great lengths to deny the Deity of Christ. They are hard-pressed to find any reputable source to agree with their translation of John 1:1. (see article Does the Watchtower Endorse Spirit Mediums) Even B.F. Westcott, whose Greek text is used in the KIT and is the basis for the NWT, doesn’t agree with them. He said, “The predicate (God) stands emphatically first, as in iv.24. It is necessarily without the article (theos not ho theos) inasmuch as it describes the nature of the Word and does not identify His Person....No idea of inferiority of nature is suggested by the form of expression, which simply affirms the true deity of the Word.” The Gospel According to St. John (Eerdmans, 1958 reprint), p.3. Similarly, Greek scholar Dr. Julius R. Mantey, who was quoted in the 1969 KIT p.1159, called the Watchtower’s rendering of this verse, “A grossly misleading translation.” Return to Scripture Verses Matthew 25:46 vs. Acts 4:21 Matthew 25:46 NWT- “And these will depart into everlasting cutting-off, but the righteous ones into everlasting life.” Literal Greek Text- “And will go off these into lopping off everlasting, but the righteous (ones) into life everlasting.” Notice that the old English words “lopping off” in the Greek text have been translated as “cutting-off” in the NWT. Why haven’t they translated the words “lopping off” into “punishment” as do all reputable bible translations available today? Because, since the Watchtower doesn’t want any Jehovah’s Witnesses to believe in hell, a place of eternal punishment, they have to use the words “cutting-off” so that it will agree with their doctrine of annihilation. This is the belief that no one will go to a place of everlasting punishment, God will annihilate the unsaved so they will just cease to exist. Let’s compare this verse to another verse. Acts 4:21 NWT- “....they released them, since they did not find any ground on which to punish them....” Literal Greek Text- ....they released them, nothing finding the how they might lop off them....” How did the NWT render the words “lop off” in this verse? PUNISH! Obviously, the Watchtower is not consistent with their translation. When the words “lop off” are in a verse that doesn’t challenge their teaching, they use “punish”, but when it doesn’t agree with their doctrine they use “cutting-off”. Remember the statement written on p. 10 of the KIT: “To each major word we have assigned one meaning....”. Their goes that promise out the window. Return to Scripture Verses Acts 11:14 NWT- “....and he will speak those things to you by which you and all your household may get saved.” Literal Greek Text- “....who will speak sayings toward you in which will be saved you and all the house of you.” Why has “will be saved” been translated into “may get saved”? Because a rank and file Jehovah’s Witnesses has no assurance of his salvation. The Watchtower’s gospel is a works based system so the Witness never knows if he has done enough to merit eternal life. There is no end to knocking on doors, taking in knowledge and serving at the Kingdom Hall. Even if he makes it into the thousand reign of Christ, he still may be annihilated if he doesn’t measure up to Jehovah’s standard. The Jehovah’s Witness is kept in a state of spiritual bondage. If he only knew that Christ’s blood frees us from dead works and gives all who place their faith in Him alone the assurance of eternal life (John 5:24, 10:28; 1 Peter 1:3-5). Return to Scripture Verses In summary, it is obvious that the NWT is not an honest translation. The Watchtower has secretly smuggled in their own peculiar doctrines to the scriptures by paraphrasing and changing verses where necessary. No wonder why the Watchtower won‘t reveal the names of the men on the “New World Translation Committee”. Who would want to take the blame? Finally, one must wonder what kind of organization can publish such a corrupted translation and say in their publication, All Scripture Is Inspired of God and Beneficial, “The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures is a faithful translation of God’s Word....” p. 331. And, “Thanks be to God that he has provided the New World Translation, with its clear and accurate Bible text.” p.327 For those interested please see our playlist "Dealing with Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower Society" with 22 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PLCF0ADB29C0EB8C40. I happen to like my "The Comparative Study Bible" which includes the NIV, NASB, Amplified Bible & the KJV by Zondervan, 1986 which puts all 4 translations side by side, page to page. My favorite single translation is the NASB but I use the KJV for television shows & street witnessing on college campuses or elsewhere simply because most people recognize it & generally accept it without a lot of fuss. I like the KJV better than the NIV but I appreciate the dynamic equivalency of the NIV.

The most terrifying words a professing Christian could ever hear would be Jesus saying, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness" (Matt. 7:21-23). The Lord Jesus will declare those horrifying words to many, not a few, who will boast in the many works they did in His Name. They called Him Lord but did not obey His first command to "Repent and believe the Gospel" (Mark 1:15). Who are the "many" who will be turned away on Judgment Day? They are those who thought they could merit eternal life by the works they were doing instead of trusting in the work Christ had done. They also never turned from their sin to follow Jesus Christ in faith. Since they never obeyed the Gospel of Christ, they will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord (2 Thessalonians 1:9). Tragically, when Jesus declares to them, "Depart from Me," there will be no second chance, no excuses, and no blaming the false teachers who deceived them. The Lord Jesus also referred to the "many" when He spoke of the two paths to eternity. Many will travel the broad road to destruction instead of the narrow road to eternal life (Matt. 7:13-14). Rather than striving to enter the narrow gate by testing every man's teaching, they foolishly follow false teachers, who are wolves disguised in sheep's clothing (Luke 13:24; Matt. 7:15). It is a sobering thought to realize that 83% of Americans (click on abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=90356&page=1) profess faith in Christ, but only a few of them show evidence of being born again as new creatures in Christ. According to the research, many of them cannot even communicate the Gospel that has the power to save souls. Part of the blame must be placed on man-centered methods of evangelism such as making a decision to "accept" Christ, or repeating a sinner's prayer, or asking Jesus into your heart, or coming forward for salvation. None of these methods are found in the Bible. The only saving response to the Gospel of Grace is to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15; Acts 16:31). Part of the blame can also be placed on those who compromise the Gospel to make it more inclusive and less offensive (Gal. 1:6-10). With so many false converts, the church has become a mission field. Many professors of Christ are not really possessors of Christ! They are strangers to the new birth. They have never passed from death unto life. They remain condemned because they have not been justified. They remain enemies of God even though they profess to be His friends! They remain enslaved to sin because they have never been set free. They profess the Savior with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. They deceive other people with their external righteousness, but they cannot deceive God! They are unaware of their pending peril, because they have never examined themselves to see if their faith is genuine (2 Cor. 13:5). The best way we can prove our faith is genuine is to examine it through the lens of Scripture. The apostle John wrote his first epistle so that those who believe in the Lord Jesus may know that they have eternal life (1 John 5:13). We also see many characteristics of false converts in God's Word. Some of them are listed below: You think you are a good person (Romans 3:12). You have a zeal for God without knowledge (Rom. 10:1-4). You have knowledge of God without obedience (Titus 1:16). You do not pursue sanctification (Heb. 12:14; 1 Thess. 4:3). You are self-righteous without repentance (Luke 18:9-14). You seek to establish your own righteousness (Rom. 10:3). You think you can merit or earn eternal life (Titus 3:5). You are unwilling to forgive others (Mat. 6:15). You have no desire to follow Jesus (Luke 9:23). You call Jesus 'Lord' but do not do what He says (Luke 6:46). You do not love other Christians (1 John 4:20-21). You love your sin (John 3:19). You have not departed from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19). You condone or promote things God hates (Prov. 6:16-19). You are a mere hearer of the Word, not a doer (James 1:22). You are full of pride with no humility (James 4:6). You walk in darkness (1 John 1:6). You live according to your sinful nature (Romans 8:5). You do not love the truth (2 Thess. 2:10-12). You take Jesus as Savior but not as Lord (Romans 10:9). You desire Jesus as a priest to pardon sin, but not as a prophet to instruct you or a king to rule over you. Please know the assurance that we are truly saved is not based on a past decision but on a present reality. So what if we are unsure about our faith and our salvation? We find the answer in God's Word: Abide in God's Word - then you will know the truth that will set you free from religious deception (John 8:31-32). Repent - with godly sorrow for your sins and cry out to God for mercy (Luke 18:13; 2 Cor. 7:10). Believe the Gospel - follow the Lord Jesus Christ in faith (Rom. 10:9-10). Love God - with all you heart, soul and mind (Mat. 22:37; 1 Cor. 16:22). What should we do if we know someone who may be a false convert? Ask them to share the events surrounding their conversion. If their conversion testimony does not line up with Scripture, ask them more questions. Speak the truth in love. Give them Gospel tracts to encourage them (contact our ministry for free tracts & literature at cdebater@aol.com). Give them links to Biblical messages such as countrysidebible.org/cbcmedia?return=single&mediacode=si180711p or "TRUE BELIEVERS & NON BELIEVERS ACCORDING TO THE GOSPEL OF THE REFORMATION: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3_dN0oC57Rk.html. Link them to our RU-vid channel CAnswersTV (which stands for "Christian Answers Television") at ru-vid.com or our website www.BibleQuery.org. Let them know eternity is forever! We can be wrong about a lot of things in this life and still survive, but if we are wrong about our faith, we will pay for that mistake forever and ever (see our playlist "Dealing with Hell, Lake of Fire, Unpopular Bible Doctrines" with 43 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PLE04A1D0DFE95B95E. In NT Greek, there's a rule called the Granville Sharpe construction: In Titus 2:13, the Greek word "kai" ("and") connects the two nouns such that one article is used for both nouns. This means that the appositive, Jesus Christ, must be referring to both "God" and "Savior." Winer Scmeidel (Grammatik, pg. 158) : "Grammar demands that one person be meant". A.T. Robertson (Word Pictures In The New Testament, Vol. 6, pg. 147): "One person not two." "A Manual Grammar of New Testament Greek," pg. 147.

My heart goes out to my JW friends who would not even consider the possibility of the inaccuracies of the JW because that would mean never being able to see or talk to their JW family members ever again , a process know as shunning. Sometimes its best to stand up for truth, though the price may be so great I dread to consider all its ramifications.

I don't care what the scholars have to say. I wont read that or this. I don't have blind faith but I believe in what I am told without challenging what they say. Wow these Jehovah's Witnesses are blind and want to teach others. Matthew 15:14 warns to Leave them; they are blind guides.

We find Jesus debating the Scribes, Pharisees & Sadducees throughout the Gospel records. We find Paul & Apollos debating throughout the Book of Acts (Acts 17:17, 18:19, 19:8 for example). Jude 3 says, "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Debating is not a "pointless" task & can very profitable for learning.

*@ **44:28** That right there is the Jehovah's Witness problem with their conditioned mind. This man, for all intents and purposes, in his mind, has combined and made into one entity, Jehovah, Jesus, and his organization. Basically, they are being led by men that are blind themselves who have made themselves out to be divine in the minds of members. Once this is broken, the member will begin to think critically. Until then, they remain in spiritual darkness.*

Since 1995 statistics for the Watchtower Society have rapidly become less encouraging in almost every indicator. In the 10 years from 1996 to 2005 there were 2,968,732 baptisms, yet the increase in average publishers was only 1,439,672. This shows 1,529,060 stopped publishing. Even accounting for the average death rate, over 1 million Witnesses left in a 10 yr period. American studies show that Jehovah's Witnesses now have the highest turnover of any religion,as supported by Watchtower figures.

@The1hope4all The JW president Rutherford said the office of the Holy Spirit was now "defunct & no more" can be found in Rutherford's 1932 book "Preservation" pages 201-203. The "Watchtower" magazine also claimed this in the 11/1/1931 issue, p. 327 & the April 1, 1934 issue, p. 105. This Jehovah's Witness doctrine was not changed until several years after Rutherford's death in 1942. Rutherford claimed angels replaced the Holy Spirit & now gave revelation knowledge; see his book "Angels," 1934.

”You'll never get sick. You will never grow old. And you will never die." Although the above words come from the movie "Cocoon," they could have come from the Watchtower Society because this is the same thing they have been proclaiming for decades as part of "the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things." This very appealing prospect attracts many people to begin to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. It then sustains them as they eagerly wait for the fulfillment of this promise. But during the course of their study they get drawn into an illusionary concept involving the Watchtower organization that gradually takes over their decision-making process and even their conscience without them realizing it. It happens because of a mistake that everyone makes before they decide to become a Jehovah's Witness. “Captives of a Concept” It identifies both the concept and the mistake that causes people to become captives of it. The book also offers a few suggestions about how to help Jehovah's Witnesses correct their mistake and teach themselves the truth about their religion. The book is designed to help the reader understand the illusionary concept mentioned by former Governing Body member Raymond Franz in his “Crisis of Conscience,” which holds Jehovah's Witnesses captive by dominating and controlling how they think and act without them realizing it.. It explains how the leadership has been able to keep themselves (apparently) and millions of Jehovah's Witnesses convinced that "the Watchtower Society is God's organization no matter what the Bible says or what went on in the organization's history. I believe it was done in 1989. Even though it was done years ago Jehovah's Witness documented past history never changes & therefore a debate such as this is just as valid today as it was those many years ago. Some former Jehovah's Witnesses have commented after hearing this debate that some of the things the JWs in this debate were saying at the time were valid but since then the Watchtower has changed some of its teachings. The Watchtower historically shifts/changes it's "truth" doctrines.

You forgot to mention that Jesus is the "ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD." This means he comes out of God and is NOT A CREATION, as we are. It's the same as me saying: "I'm a son of my father, and I'm the same as he is, because we are both flesh (the same substance).

i agree with you but actually John 1.18 in greek is deeper than english translation because "MONOGENES THEOS" means "ONE OF KIND GOD" mono means one, genes means kind and THEOS means GOD. it exactly like what you've said that in terms of father and son, they are in the same essence, like same kind.

@cupwithhandles One definition of the word "cult" I've always liked is "organized heresy" but of course anyone can define "cult" any way he pleases. A better Biblical term would be apostasy (Greek απο, "away, apart", στασις, "standing") is the formal renunciation of one's religion - in this case JWs "renounce" authentic Biblical Christianity. Walter Martin, author of the book "The Kingdom of the Cults," said a cult was a group of people gathered about a "person's misinterpretation of the Bible."

It is interesting that a much higher percentage of people believe in the existence of heaven than believe in the existence of hell. According to the Bible, though, hell is just as real as heaven. The Bible clearly and explicitly teaches that hell is a real place to which the wicked/unbelieving are sent after death. We have all sinned against God (Romans 3:23). The just punishment for that sin is death (Romans 6:23). Since all of our sin is ultimately against God (Psalm 51:4), and since God is an infinite and eternal Being, the punishment for sin, death, must also be infinite and eternal. Hell is this infinite and eternal death which we have earned because of our sin. The punishment of the wicked dead in hell is described throughout Scripture as “eternal fire” (Matthew 25:41), “unquenchable fire” (Matthew 3:12), “shame and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2), a place where “the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:44-49), a place of “torment” and “fire” (Luke 16:23-24), “everlasting destruction” (2 Thessalonians 1:9), a place where “the smoke of torment rises forever and ever” (Revelation 14:10-11), and a “lake of burning sulfur” where the wicked are “tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10). The punishment of the wicked in hell is as never ending as the bliss of the righteous in heaven. Jesus Himself indicates that punishment in hell is just as everlasting as life in heaven (Matthew 25:46). The wicked are forever subject to the fury and the wrath of God. Those in hell will acknowledge the perfect justice of God (Psalm 76:10). Those who are in hell will know that their punishment is just and that they alone are to blame (Deuteronomy 32:3-5). Yes, hell is real. Yes, hell is a place of torment and punishment that lasts forever and ever, with no end. Praise God that, through Jesus, we can escape this eternal fate (John 3:16, 18, 36). The wicked hate the wrath, justice & judgment of a Holy God. Jesus said, "It would have been good for that man if he had not been born" (Matthew 26:24). Why would Jesus say this if there wasn't something far worse waiting for that man after this life is over? Interestingly enough, over the years many atheists have flocked to our RU-vid hell videos with unusual curiosity. Why do they bother if they don't think it is real? 2 Timothy 2:15

We are told in scripture that The Father raised Jesus from the grave. We are also told that the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus also said tear down this temple and I will raise it up in three days (speaking of His body). John 1:1 also tells Jesus is God.

I've been in seminary for awhile, and I find it interesting that the Bible is very fluid in it's message once layers of understanding is uncovered. When I apply the jewish customs, old testament, and early church history, the message becomes really clear. The JWs message is very confusing. But thais is the least of what I disagree with. When I hear JWs state that the Trinity is not "taught" in the Bible, I'm dumbfounded. I'd like to know what criteria do they employed as a "teaching".

Multiple times he could have kept their feet over the fire. And Multiple times, they changed the subject and they slipped off the hook. The Best way to speak truth to a JW and to pry your message through is to get them onto one verse and keep them there. No matter how much they try to change the subject. Because a JW can't land on any verse which disproves their faith, so they MUST dodge an evade. Mental gymnastics. They cannot land on one or the other. So they DON'T land.

I just now saw "Debra Tefs" comment thanks to "preto shohmoofc guy's" comment. I think she must be a Jehovah's Witness to say I "sound like SATAN" & she is indicating that the "few" mentioned in Matthew 7:13-14 must be her beloved Watchtower & Tract Society. The "few" that are actually going to be saved from the wrath of God mentioned by Jesus is definitely not the JWs. We have two videos that Biblically deal with the "few." See "Unpopular Bible Doctrines #2: Many "Christians" Are Not Real; God Loves Judgment; No Forgiveness" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iJIlReP9SFw.html & "SAD STATE OF THE CHURCH: 87% OF EVANGELICAL "CHRISTIANS" DON'T KNOW WHAT GOSPEL JUSTIFICATION IS" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-im4ozy_EiR4.html. The Biblical fact is not only are all non Christians going to go to hell but so too are many so-called "Christians" as well (read Luke chapters 13 & 14 where Jesus really cuts the numbers down; hear "Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=11140523305 as well). "in the beggining was the word and the word was with God and the word was a god"!?? really how is this a translation? from a capital " G" to a lower case "g"? that is not a translation is just a new blasphemous work of Satan to disprove Jesus as God!

You probably are already aware that the WT has removed the brackets around the word "other" in the 2013 New World Translation, thus misleading people into thinking that "other" is in the original Greek. It is most telling that in the Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures, the direct translation directly underneath the Greek does not have other but yet appears on the sidebar inserted. Their own literature contradicts them.

I read the Autobiography of Malcom X some time ago. I have a friend who was once in the Nation of Islam. And after I read that book I asked her HOW could she be a member of that religion. There were many QUESTIONABLE beliefs in the book, but the biggest was the belief that Elijah Muhammad was waiting in an invisible space ship hovering the earth!!! JWs are really no better than NOI. To accept the Gospels writings, which had no authors attached, as true, but deny the Trinity is ridiculous.

If you really want to find out how Jehovah's Witnesses are feeling "happy" then check online the many ex-Jehovah's Witnesses sites out there & hear their testimonies. It is not pretty. The current JWs won't tell you their real feeling as long as they have to put up a front for their Watchtower organization. This debate was not a formally organized one with a moderator but rather more of an open discussion with an audience thus the JWs had no idea what question Wessels would ask them next.

The WT did and continues to interpret their Bible. They interpreted that in 1914 that the great tribulation began, the GB was put in charge of all Jesus' belongings and the separation of sheep and goats took place. In 2013, they decided they were wrong. Was that not "INTERPRETING" what the Bible said? That wasn't translating!

YHWH, these four letters were very loosely translated into the English JEHOVAH. However, there is no ‘j’ sound in the Hebrew. So, a better approximation of the name of God would be Yahweh. But, a further problem in the pronunciation of God’s name is that the ancient Hebrews didn't use vowel designations when writing the Scriptures. They only used consonants. Therefore, the phrase “The name of God is YHWH” would appear as “th nm f gd s yhwh.” We don't know which vowel sounds are the correct ones.

Michael Levy - Thank you very much for your comment & your invitation to be tutored. When I was a young Christian back in the early 1980s my mentor was Walter Martin (see my video "Walter Martin Inspired Our Christian Answers Apologetics & Evangelism Ministry - 1 Peter 3:15" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V2j6ICz22fM.html) but I never met him in person or even spoke to him over the phone. I just studied all his books, listened to his radio show, bought & listened to every audio cassette he produced over & over again & watched him on the John Ankerberg show and then with what I learned I went out into the cults mission field & am still there to this day almost 40 years later. Of course I studied a lot of other theologians also (see my video "Top List of Outstanding Bible Teachers & Preachers on SermonAudio.com for Personal & Group Study" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N6153Yqz0xg.html) & of course I studied the Bible itself constantly. Unfortunately my circumstances are such that I am just not able to have the time to tutor anyone except through my RU-vid & SermonAudio ministries. I have received more speaking invites than I can count so I created a form letter just to answer them all. Here's in part what it says, "1. I appreciate your offer to communicate and/or come & preach; 2. Since I have over 4900 FACEBOOK friends it is virtually impossible to keep up with everyone; 3. Unfortunately my circumstances at this time in my life allow for few opportunities for longer personal discussions or missionary journeys overseas due to lack of time; 4. Currently I am working two secular jobs - one job is 6 nights a week at the United States Postal Service which I have been working for 33 years straight now with many 10 hour or longer work shifts (Christmas time brings even longer work shifts at the post office) & I am also a real estate agent during the day which raises funds to help pay for our video ministry on RU-vid; 5. I have two special needs children given to me by God to care for named Gloria (29 years old, autistic & mentally challenged) & Thomas (37 years old, brain damaged & unable to walk or talk); 6. Any real free time I have left is used for our main ministry Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater as found on the internet at either RU-vid (ru-vid.com) which God has used to reach tens of thousands of people on a regular basis or on Sermon Audio (www.sermonaudio.com/source_detail.asp?sourceid=christiananswers); 6. Ephesians 5:16 says "making the most of your time, because the days are evil." I therefore do as much as I can with the time given me because after all, "One life will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last." Being so busy is what has delayed my even seeing your comment until tonight a month later - my one night off from the post office (see my video "Cell Phone Technology Makes Bible Study Possible Wherever You May Be" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gOsCT0zoTUk.html which shows how I have used my place of employment as a great way to study the Bible & Christian apologetics over the past 33 years). So I always encourage my Christian brothers & sisters to use their place of employment as a Bible learning center if their employers allow them to listen to anything they want while they are working. I found your comment here by providence since I came to this video to better advertise the free written transcript available for it. I decided to answer your comment first then go on to advertise the transcript in the description text for the video & in the comments section underneath the video. For an easier study of my debate with the two Jehovah's Witnesses here in written form please see this link at media-cloud.sermonaudio.com/text/108141526191.pdf. Blessings to you brother & fight the good fight of faith for the love of Christ & His gospel.

THE "J" SICKNESS Let us add the vowels as the "Witness" suggests. YHWH becomes YeHoWaH. Juggle as you like but you can never materialize Jehovah! Ask him, from which hat he drew his "J". He will tell you that "this is the 'popular' pronunciation from the 16th century." The exact sound of the four letters YHWH is known neither to the Jews nor to the Gentiles, yet he is ramming JEHOVAH down everyone's throats. The European Christians have developed a fondness (sickness) for the letter "J" They add J's where there are no Jays. Look! Yael he converts to Joel Yehuda to Juda Yeheshua to Joshua Yusuf to Joseph Yunus to Jonah Yesus to Jesus Yehowa to Jehovah There is no end to the Westerner's infatuation for the letter "J." Now in the busy streets of South Africa, he charges people who carelessly cross them for "jay-walking," but nobody charges him for converting Jewish (Yehudi) names into Gentile names. The letters Y H W H occur in the Hebrew (Jewish) Scriptures 6,823 times, boasts the Jehovah's Witness, and it occurs in combination with the word "Elohim;" 156 times in the booklet called Genesis alone. This combination YHWH/ELOHIM has been consistently translated in the English Bible as "Lord God," "Lord God," Lord God," ad infinitum.

Wrong! Jehovah's Witnesses falsely claim that bibles remove YHWH (Tetragrammaton) from the Old Testament. The truth is, they have added the divine name in the New Testament where it is never found in the original Greek manuscripts, and blamed the Bible as being corrupted from the original where YHWH was once found. Rather than trashing their false doctrine, they trash the Bible! They spell YHWH wrong as "Jehovah" despite the fact that the letter "J" doesn't even exist in Hebrew, Greek or Latin.

The thing that made me think and bothered me when I started questioning the JW faith is that on prophecy. The bible says straight out that if a person makes a prophecy in God's name he is a false prophet. There's no compromise or wiggle room here. No " New Light" They also claim that the fall of the 2nd temple was in 607 BC which if you research or take a Hebrew Bible class you know its closer to around 589 BC. Why 607 to fit their 1914 prophecy

There is a simple proof of God being a multifaceted being I have never heard any scholar or minister speak of. The Hebrew words EL, Eloah, Elohiym=God. If you read the verses inserting the proper word for God it helps clarify which facet of God is revealed. The suffix ym in Hebrew is said to be a plural form. Many words ending in ym are a single object with multiple elements "appahiym" = two nostrils or mitsrayim=Egypt which entailed two parts. Eloyim references God as a multi-faceted being.

It should be clear enough - "Jehovah" is not the divine name, it's a 1520 invention. When a Trinitarian Christian apologist says "Jesus is Jehovah" he is actually mocking a Jehovah's Witness for his phony understanding of both who Jesus is & who God is. The JWs say Jesus is the one being talked about in 1 Tim 6:15-16 (see "Aid to Bible Understanding," page 823). A Trinitarian says that 1 Tim 6:15-16 is referring to Jesus as YHWH in conjunction with the other members of the Trinity (2 Cor 13:14).

Over the decades I have realized that the best way to get a lasting witness on a Jehovah's Witness is to break his or her confidence in the Watchtower first & then get him or her to the point where I can discuss the Bible with him or her. Over the decades many JWs have left the Watchtower as a result of this methodology. Instead of playing Bible ping pong at first I target their history which usually crushes their faith if they are paying attention & after that they are willing to listen to what I have to say about the Bible. Here are four key videos that will help you along these lines: 1. "Who's Knocking? #2: Jehovah's Witnesses Hidden History, Spiritism, Racism, Doctrines of Demons" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b9LFhzOb-_g.html; 2. "IS JESUS GOD ALMIGHTY IN THE FLESH MEANING THE SECOND PERSON OF THE TRINITY OR IS HE SOMETHING ELSE?" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_BlPm7M7uv8.html&list=PLCF0ADB29C0EB8C40&index=12. For further research see our entire playlist called "Dealing with Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower Society" with 41 videos at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b9LFhzOb-_g.html&list=PLCF0ADB29C0EB8C40. Here's 3 useful websites run by ex-Jehovah's Witnesses with plenty of information about this man-made cult: www.cftf.com/, www.jwinfoline.com/, www.jwfacts.com/. The so-called "new light" of the JWs is really a flickering & broken flashlight since what they believe today could be a lie tomorrow (see list below): Question for a Jehovah's Witness: "Will the men of Sodom be resurrected?" Here's how the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society has answered that question over the years: YES ("Zion's Watch Tower and Herald of Christ's Presence," July 1879, page 8) NO ("The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom," June 1, 1952, p. 338) YES (The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom," Aug. 1, 1965, p. 479) NO ("The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom," June 1, 1988, p. 31) YES (1988 book "Insight on the Scriptures," p. 985) NO (1988 book "Revelation: Its Grand Climax At Hand!", p. 273). In fact, as pointed out in "Our Kingdom Ministry" (December, 1989, p. 7) early printings of the book "You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth" say 'YES' but later printings of the same book say 'NO' (pp. 178-179). It takes time, commitment & determination to do the study & research required for a successful evangelistic outreach to Jehovah's Witnesses plus the blessing of God without which you can do nothing. 2 Timothy 4:2-5, "preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."

The Jehovah's Witnesses "new light" is their "excuse" for lying. Their "new light" today could be tomorrow's falsehood by their standards. Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe the men of Sodom will or will not be resurrected? The men of Sodom will be resurrected (WT, 7-1879, 7-8). The men of Sodom will not be resurrected (WT, 6-1-1952, 338). The men of Sodom will be resurrected (WT 8-1-1965, 479). The men of Sodom will not be resurrected (WT 6-1-1988, 31). So will they be resurrected or not? Light?

jehovah's witnesses are brainwashed and it's very hard to get logic with them. Their brains are handed over to watchtower. This generation will not pass away to jehovah's witnesses meant that those that saw 1914 will not pass away. They are all dead, but watchtower got new light! yes apparently that generation meant overlapping generations. I find it hard to believe that any intelligent person would be a Jehovah's witness. That's why they discourage higher education, if you have a Brain you'd leave the cult.
@CAnswersTV
@CAnswersTV 8 лет назад
To Miguel Castellanos - You must be brainwashed by the Watchtower to say a thing like that! The sect known today as the Jehovah's Witnesses started out in Pennsylvania in 1870 as a Bible class led by Charles Taze Russell. Russell named his group the “Millennial Dawn Bible Study.” Charles T. Russell began writing a series of books he called “The Millennial Dawn,” which stretched to six volumes before his death and contained much of the theology Jehovah’s Witnesses now hold. After Russell's death in 1916, Judge J. F. Rutherford, Russell's friend and successor, wrote the seventh and final volume of the “Millennial Dawn” series, “The Finished Mystery,” in 1917. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was founded in 1886 and quickly became the vehicle through which the “Millennial Dawn” movement began distributing their views to others. The group was known as the “Russellites” until 1931 when, due to a split in the organization, it was renamed the “Jehovah’s Witnesses.” The group from which it split became known as the “Bible students.” What do Jehovah’s Witnesses believe? Close scrutiny of their doctrinal position on such subjects as the deity of Christ, salvation, the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, and the atonement shows beyond a doubt that they do not hold to orthodox Christian positions on these subjects. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe Jesus is Michael the archangel, the highest created being. This contradicts many Scriptures which clearly declare Jesus to be God (John 1:1,14, 8:58, 10:30). Jehovah’s Witnesses believe salvation is obtained by a combination of faith, good works, and obedience. This contradicts countless scriptures which declare salvation to be received by grace through faith (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). Jehovah’s Witnesses reject the Trinity, believing Jesus to be a created being and the Holy Spirit to essentially be the inanimate power of God. Jehovah’s Witnesses reject the concept of Christ’s substitutionary atonement and instead hold to a ransom theory, that Jesus’ death was a ransom payment for Adam’s sin. How do the Jehovah’s Witnesses justify these unbiblical doctrines? First, they claim that the church has corrupted the Bible over the centuries; thus, they have re-translated the Bible into what they call the New World Translation. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society altered the text of the Bible to make it fit their false doctrine, rather than basing their doctrine on what the Bible actually teaches. The New World Translation has gone through numerous editions, as the Jehovah’s Witnesses discover more and more Scriptures that contradict their doctrines. The Watchtower bases its beliefs and doctrines on the original and expanded teachings of Charles Taze Russell, Judge Joseph Franklin Rutherford, and their successors. The governing body of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is the only body in the cult that claims authority to interpret Scripture. In other words, what the governing body says concerning any scriptural passage is viewed as the last word, and independent thinking is strongly discouraged. This is in direct opposition to Paul's admonition to Timothy (and to us as well) to study to be approved by God, so that we need not be ashamed as we correctly handle the Word of God. This admonition, found in 2 Timothy 2:15, is a clear instruction from God to each of His children to be like the Berean Christians, who searched the Scriptures daily to see if the things they were being taught lined up with the Word. There is probably no religious group that is more faithful than the Jehovah’s Witnesses at getting their message out. Unfortunately, the message is full of distortions, deceptions, and false doctrine. May God open the eyes of the Jehovah’s Witnesses to the truth of the gospel and the true teaching of God’s Word. No. The New Brown-Driver-Briggs-Gesenius Hebrew-Aramic Lexicon (1981), pp 217-18 says, "YHWH, proper name of the God of Israel. The pronunciation of Jehovah was unknown until 1520 A.D. when it was introduced by Galatinus but it was contested" because of "grammatical & historical impropriety." Many modern translations correct the mistake by translating YHWH as "the Lord" (see Psalm 83;18, etc). A Trinitarian can say "Jesus is Jehovah" meaning Jesus is the second person of the Trinity & is Lord.

not everyone in this world can pronounce YHWH that's why the scholar of the bible put on vowels on those letters to call the true God on his name. .so Jehovah is just a good translation for all people in this world

This was interesting at 0:44:48 "I could care less about scholars!...I've had enough of scholars in school and in my life now. I'm not into this, I did not come into Jehovah's kingdom...(then the audio jumps)". So why is this individual interested in a debate which obviously involves comparative scholarship? Clearly he just wants to preach his non-thinking views and embrace his beliefs by blind faith. It's quite silly to profess to be a thinking, studying 'older man' and maintain this attitude.

Titus 2:13 "waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ," This is translated from the original manuscript and using Greek sentence structure you can see it connects God and Jesus as the same being. The same can be found in John 1:1 when it says the Word was God. The JW translator committee was made up of men who barely graduated high school and none of whom could pass a greek or hebrew test. Read the manuscripts before you respond.

03:43 JW: We don't interpret the Bible...interpretations are left up to Jesus and Jehovah God. 04:28 JW: So we do not interpret the Bible. And that is a key misrepresentation that many people have placed on Jehovah's Witnesses. Nice gentleman, just not honest. The WT places strict interpretations on Scripture which their followers must follow; interpretations that are way off from the plain reading of the text. Follow or face the heat! I know this from several hourly discussions with them.

The "flickering" flashlight of the so-called "new light" of the Jehovah's Witnesses. The Watchtower Society emphasizes that they are a progressive organization, blessed with spiritual insights from God. They call these insights "new truths." Members are encouraged to keep abreast of "present truth" and to adjust their thinking when "old truth" changes. They are then encouraged to embrace "new light" or "new truths," called "enhanced understanding," "progressive understanding," "progressive truth" or "progressive knowledge." Whichever way you slice it, members are expected to believe the new truth and teach it, even if it contradicts former truth or is a reversal to a previously held viewpoint (very similar to the Muslim doctrine of abrogation in Islam - see "The Quran and the Problem of Abrogation" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fkRCpQ8LA4Y.html). The Society likens their changes in viewpoint to a boat that tacks, moving side-to-side but always moving forward. Most of us have traveled in a boat that, pushed about by the waves, didn't always move forward in a straight line. But tossed about or not, if the boat had something to propel it, we eventually got to where we were going. Using the Society's own tacking rationale, let's see if their teachings about the men of Sodom have truly moved forward progressively, helping members to an enhanced understanding. As you read the quoted statements below, ask yourself which is the actual scenario: tacking or reversal to a previously held viewpoint? Sodomites Will-Will Not be Resurrected Watchtower 7/1879 p. 8 “the Sodomites will be resurrected.” Watchtower 6/1/1952 p.338 “The men of Sodom will not be resurrected.” So, years (approximately 73) pass and they change their viewpoint--but this is fine because in this case, it truly could be said to be a progressive understanding, because it has changed. Except that ... Watchtower 8/1/1965 p. 479 “The men of Sodom will be resurrected.” Hmm ... no side-to-side tacking here but a complete return to a viewpoint held 85-86 years earlier. so, at this juncture, it cannot be said to be progressive, rather regressive. But, did they finally have it right? Watchtower 6/1/1988 p.31 “men of Sodom will not be resurrected.” Twenty-three years pass and ... nope. Two complete reversals spanning over 100 years, and they still haven't gained or presented any additional insights to members. "Insight" publication Vol. 2, 1988 p. 985 “men of Sodom will be resurrected.” "Revelation Book," 1988 p. 273 “men of Sodom will not be resurrected.” You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth (Book published by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society in 1982) The men of Sodom WILL be resurrected. You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth (Secondary Edition, published by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society in 1989) The men of Sodom WILL NOT be resurrected. Wow! Lightening-fast reversals but no progressive "the light is getting brighter" truth, merely a replay of "will, will not." Recycled Information is Not Progressive Truth When the Society claims that a teaching that reverts to a previous viewpoint is in actuality "new light" or a "new spiritual truth," this is incorrect. While it may be "new" to a new generation of members, it is old, recycled information. Returning to a previous point of view is not the same thing as adopting a truly new understanding, nor does this indicate that God gave any type of progressive understanding to the Governing Body regarding the men of Sodom. If the Governing Body came up with a completely different understanding, one that didn't mirror previous teachings, this could be said to be an actual new understanding and could reasonably be said to be progressive (even if not necessarily from God). True Humility: Not Passing Off Human Teachings as God's Truths When old ideas are readopted, it would be more accurate to dub these, "a changed understanding." Far better still, religious organizations should refrain from stating that something comes from God and from presenting the information as "God's truth." A truly humble approach would be to say that this is a present understanding but that it is merely an understanding and not new light flashing forth from the Most High. That is not the main point of the Jehovah's Witness "New World Translation." The main point of the JW "NWT" is to deceive it's ignorant followers with a phony translation that pawns off its false Watchtower doctrines as if they were "gospel truth." “Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.” -Luke 13:23-24 Do you understand the question in the above Scripture? “Lord, are there few that be saved?” Someone came to Jesus and wanted to know if “few” people were saved. It's interesting that the person didn't ask if “many” people were saved. Evidently the person had been listening to Jesus' preaching and became convinced that few people were really saved. When the Bible speaks of being “saved,” it means saved from God's wrath upon Christ-rejecting sinners in Hell (for more on hell see our playlist "Dealing with Hell, Lake of Fire, Unpopular Bible Doctrines" with 30 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PLE04A1D0DFE95B95E & "Eternal Punishment, Part 1" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=12607145320 & "Eternal Punishment, Part 2" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=12607143539). Romans 5:9, “Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” All Christ-rejecters go to Hell if they die in their sins. If a person is “saved,” then they are going to Heaven when they die. Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” We are saved from the eternal consequences of sin, which is punishment in hellfire. To be saved is synonymous with being “born again.” When a person becomes a born-again child of God, they are saved eternally. EVERY human being MUST to be saved (i.e., born again) to enter into Heaven. John 3:3, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” If a person dies in their sins without believing on Jesus as the Savior, the Son of God, they will burn in Hell forever (Revelation 20:11-15).Just as the disciple who asked Jesus the question in Luke 13:23, I myself often wonder how few are truly born again believers. I dare say not many. Let's consider the question again...“Lord, are there few that be saved?” There are over one billion Catholics in the world who errantly believe that the Catholic Church is going to save them. Roman Catholics do not trust Jesus Christ alone; but rather, rely upon manmade traditions and self-righteous works to save them. According to the Word of God, genuine Catholics are hellbound in their sins because they are trusting in self-righteousness (Romans 3:20; 10:3-4; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5, see our playlist "Dealing with Roman Catholicism, Idolatry & the Virgin Mary" with 129 videos & counting at ru-vid.com/group/PLFFA8D69D1B914715). There are over one billion Islamic Muslims in the world who deny that Jesus Christ ever died upon a cross for our sins (see our playlist "Dealing with Islam, Muslims: Sunni, Shi'ite, Alawites, Sufis" with 67 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PL1C7F68B548009FDD). According to the Bible, they are antichrists and liars on their way to Hell (1st John 2:22-23). There are over 183,000 cults in Japan alone that deny Jesus Christ as the only Savior of the world. Other false religions include Scientology, Hinduism, Wicca, Buddhism, Seventh Day Adventism, Zoroastrianism, Greek Orthodox, Judaism, Jehovah Witness, Mormonism, Freemasonry, and many more (see our RU-vid channel CAnswersTV at ru-vid.com with over 615 videos covering most of these anti Christian religions in detail). Why do I call them “false religions”? It's simply because they all corrupt the Biblical teaching of salvation, i.e., the gospel (see our playlist "Dealing with Anti Trinitarians (UPC) & Early Church History" with 48 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PL9931642C7C8FFEAB). Most false religions ADD works to faith. Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses DENY the deity of Jesus Christ (i.e., that He is Almighty God) - see our playlists "Dealing with Mormonism, the Religion of Mitt Romney & Utah" with 20 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PL11CD0EE613306BB5 & "Dealing with Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower Society" with 22 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PLCF0ADB29C0EB8C40. Seventh Day Adventists falsely and deceitfully redefine faith to mean works (see our playlist, "Dealing with Seventh-day Adventism & Their "Prophetess" with 23 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PL5316CC6F66F24283). There are hundreds of millions of followers of Hinduism who deny Jesus as the Savior, the Son of God (see our playlist "Dealing with Anti Christ Cults, "New Age" & World Religions" with 42 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PL69A3047B3497590A). Judaism denies that Jesus is the Messiah. The same Pharisaical Jews who crucified Jesus 2,000 years ago are crucifying Him today. The Campbellite Church of Christ deceitfully speaks of faith in Christ, but also requires water baptism and living the Christian life to be saved. That is works salvation, which is a lie of the Devil (Romans 3:20; Romans 4:5-6, see our playlist "Dealing with "Saved by Works & Baptism", "Church of Christ" with 72 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PLBD55090718DA6D3D). Every Catholic claims not to worship Mary, but the second commandment (Exodus 20:3-5) forbids even bowing to Mary (which every Catholic does, for more on the Roman Catholic installation of the worship of saints, images, & polytheism in church history hear "Perseverance of the Saints & the Worship of Saints (Historical Theology Vol. 1, #17)" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=14101149112 & "The Worship of Images & Civil Authorities (Historical Theology Vol. 1, #18)" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=15101057200). There are hundreds of millions of so-called Charismatic & Pentecostal "Christians" who trade the Word of God for their own wild emotional experiences & replace the Biblical gospel for a gospel of "heath & wealth" despite 1 Timothy 6:10 saying, "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows" - see our two video series on this: "Blasphemous Charismatic & Pentecostal Mayhem #1: Mad Delusional Experiences Replace Scripture Alone" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kbv7YsyMf0I.html begins one series while "AGONY OF THE PHONY WORD-FAITH TV PREACHERS #1: MIND SCIENCE ORIGINS OF KENNETH HAGIN & HIS DISCIPLES" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VwQ5BLrYD_U.html begins another series. Even secular humanism, atheism & agnosticism can be considered faith based religions due to the fact that atheists & humanists have a faith that God does not exist while agnostics are willingly ignorant concerning God (see our playlist "Dealing with "God Hating" Atheists, Agnostics, Know-It-Alls" with 20 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PL640E505B96CD6B39). Many animistic religions exist throughout the world as well which are described in Romans 1:18-32, see our video "FOREIGN MISSIONS FOR CHRIST: PREACHING TO CANNIBALS, WITCH DOCTORS & TRIBAL NATIVES" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ACnDLyXa9H0.html. All of the religions I have just mentioned account for well over seven eighths of the earth's population or more. Keep in mind, besides all of this, Jesus said, "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24). Who are considered "rich people"? It's not just millionaires & world leaders but many lesser wealthy persons who exceed the vast majority of mankind in money & possessions (Luke16:19-31 is a good example of this in the parable of the rich man & Lazarus). See the video "It is Difficult for Americans to Enter Heaven - Tim Conway" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bDwNGXciNCQ.html. Statistics provided in this video show that even the poorest Americans living in the United States have a better net income than most of the world. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, June 1, 2013, the bottom 5% of United States citizens are richer than 68% of people living throughout the rest of the world; U.S. citizens who make $50,000 a year are richer than 99.69% of the people in the rest of the world; U.S. citizens who make $20,000 a year are richer than 96% of the people in the rest of the world, U.S. citizens who make $10,000 a year are richer than 84% of the people in the rest of the world; U.S. citizens who make $100,000 a year are in a category that only 8 out of every 10,000 people achieve in the entire world. Will it be difficult for rich Americans who don't think they're rich to enter into the kingdom of heaven? Jesus already gave the answer. For more on this hear "Those Whom God Hates He Is Often Pleased To Give Plenty Of Earthly Things To, Edwards" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=427121150346 by the well known theologian Jonathan Edwards who also preached the most famous sermon on North American soil called, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=770213541. If you don't like what I am telling you then get mad at God because He wrote the Bible. If you take the Bible at FACE VALUE, you can only interpret it one way. The best way to interpret the Bible is with the Bible. God said what He meant and meant what He said. Let the Bible speak for itself. Jesus answered the question in Luke 13:24 with the following words...“...for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.” Most of the people in this world are going straight to Hell when they die because they have not been born again (hear "Few Saved From A Burning Hell" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=3514145121). Lies and deception are everywhere! Catholics and Jehovah Witnesses claim to be born-again but they are NOT. You can't get born-again by doing good works, confessing your sins to a priest, getting water baptized, joining a church or keeping the Sabbath Day. Salvation is NOT found in any religion; but rather, in a Person-The Lord Jesus Christ! Most people today have churchianity without Christianity, and they are all going to Hell if they don't repent toward God of their unbelief (for more on this see our video "TRUE BELIEVERS & NON BELIEVERS ACCORDING TO THE GOSPEL OF THE REFORMATION: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3_dN0oC57Rk.html). The vast majority of so-called "Evangelical Christians" in the world today do not know what the Biblical gospel is or what "justification by faith alone" is (see our video "SAD STATE OF THE CHURCH: 87% OF EVANGELICAL "CHRISTIANS" DON'T KNOW WHAT GOSPEL JUSTIFICATION IS" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-im4ozy_EiR4.html. There are only two types of religions in the world: DO and DONE. Either you believe that you have to DO something to go to Heaven; or else you believe that it is DONE, paid for by Jesus' precious blood. Jesus said in Luke 13:24 that “many” will seek to enter into Heaven but will not be able. That is quite startling. Jesus said the same thing in Matthew 7:21-23 . . . “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” The reason why these religious people were not allowed into Heaven was because they attempted to enter Heaven through their own self-righteousness. In Matthew 5:20 Jesus spake concerning the religious leaders of His time . . . “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Most of the religious churchgoers in the world today are as lost as can be, still hellbound in their wickedness. They have not done the will of God concerning salvation, which is to BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST (John 6:40; Acts 16:30-31). Jesus provides two contrasts in Luke 13:24, the contrast between seeking to enter and striving to enter and the contrast between seeking to enter through the narrow door and seeking to enter by any other means. Let’s now focus on the second contrast. Look at verses 25-27:"Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.' 26 "Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets'; 27 and He will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.' (Luke 13:25 NAU) Jesus’ statement at the end of 25 and the middle of 27 is translated well in the NIV: “I don't know you or where you come from.” In effect, He is saying, “I don’t know you at all! You may think that you are mine, but I have nothing to do with you - I don’t even know your family, your village” So what does Jesus mean by the narrow door? What is His intended contrast with other methods of entering? Again, let’s begin by considering what the narrow door is not: The narrow door is NOT being in a church, reading the Bible, listening to sermons, looking to others like a Christian. This is clear from verse 26: these evildoers looked just like believers who had been with Jesus. They had listened to His preaching. But He does not know them, and they stand condemned. The narrow door is NOT being prominent in this life. Jesus says in verse 30 that some who are presently first will be last. Prominence now is no guarantee of one’s entering through the narrow door. The narrow door is NOT being a descendant of a great believer. See verse 28. Remember, Jesus is speaking to descendants of Abraham and Jacob. I sometimes like to use the expression, “God has no grandchildren.” Each of us must come to Jesus on our own, not through our parents, our grandparents, or other ancestors. Then what does Jesus mean by the narrow door? Elsewhere, Jesus says He Himself is the door: I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. (John 10:9) In what sense is this door narrow? In two ways. First, the door is narrow in the sense that no one comes to the Father any other way (John 14:6). No religious activities - Christian or non-Christian - bring us into the Kingdom. Sincere beliefs do not bring us in. Good works do not bring us in. Good feelings about our relationship with Christ do not bring us in. Though in our pluralistic society this message is despised, we must preach, teach, and live out this truth: There is only one door, and that narrow door is Jesus. The Lake of Fire is waiting for "many" when they die. Jesus' disciple asked Him if few people are going to Heaven. Jesus replied that many people will attempt, but fail. When the floods came in Noah's day, many people tried to get on the ark, but it was too late once the door was closed. When the bridegroom came in Matthew 25:1-13, the five foolish virgins were left behind because they were gone buying oil at the last moment. Do not likewise make the mistake of delaying salvation, for you will be sorry when it is too late. Few souls are going to Heaven. Jesus said, "Only those who find that strait gate and narrow way that leadeth unto life (Matthew 7:13-15), which is the righteousness of Jesus Christ will make it to heaven. So many churchgoers have religion, but they have never truly been born of the spirit of God, which is the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9, hear "Why Are So Few People Saved?" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=111710103558). Salvation happens when a person acknowledges their guilt of sin unto God in repentance; believing on Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, to be forgiven (this is a supernatural action caused by God in the heart of a repentant sinner in 2 Timothy 2:24-26; see also "SUPERNATURAL BIBLE PROPHECY CONCERNING JESUS THE JEWISH MESSIAH (PART #1)" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DVByqkjwChs.html). We are SINNERS and Jesus is the wonderful SAVIOR! Acts 10:43, “To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.” Salvation is given to those "few" who have been ordained to eternal life by God Himself (Acts 13:48). And who are those "few"? Jesus answers that question in John chapter 6:37,39,44,63 & 65: "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." "And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day." "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." " It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." "And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father." For more on this see our video "The Sovereignty of God Versus Man-Made Religions, Hollywood Movies & Petty Emotionalism" - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1UQABR_9gGI.html. Keep in mind that God works with relatively few numbers throughout world history (remember how Elijah thought he was the last prophet of God left in Israel in 1 Kings 19:13-18 & the Lord had to correct Elijah about the number but still the number God told Elijah was small). The God of the Bible has always had His way of operating His plan in this world & it has always been consistently with small numbers (1 Corinthians 1:26-29, "For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence." For an excellent message concerning the small numbers God has historically employed please hear the outstanding theologian Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones in his sermon "Sermon 113 - Three-score and Fifteen Souls" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=99217141430450. +spaniardviii Question: "Is Jesus being God in the flesh biblical?" Answer: Yes. Jesus has the same names for God that God has for Himself. Jesus is the "creator of the universe" - John 1:3, "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." Col. 1:16-17, "For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Cross reference this to God in Job 33:4, "The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life." & Isaiah 40:28, "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom." Jesus is "the First & the Last" in Rev. 1:17, "When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.’" Rev. 2:8, "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again." Rev. 22:13, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." Cross reference this to God in Isaiah 41:4, "Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD--with the first of them and with the last--I am he." Isaiah 44:6, "This is what the LORD says--Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God." Jesus claimed to be the "I AM" in John 8:24, "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." (NKJV) John 8:58, "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" John 13:19, "I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am He." Cross reference this to God in Exodus 3:14, "God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’" Isaiah 43:10, "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me." See also Deut. 32:39. Jesus is the "Judge" in 2 Tim. 4:1, "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge . . . " Cross reference this to God in Joel 3:12, "Let the nations be roused; let them advance into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations on every side." Rom. 14:10, "You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat." 2 Cor. 5:10, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." Jesus is the "King" - Matt. 2:2, " . . . Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him." Luke 23:3, "So Pilate asked Jesus, "Are you the king of the Jews?" "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied." See also John 19:21. Cross reference this to God in Jer. 10:10, "But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath." Isaiah 44:6-8, "This is what the LORD says--Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God." See also Psalm 47. Jesus is the "Light" - John 8:12, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Luke 2:32, "a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel." See also John 1:7-9. Cross reference this to God in Psalm 27:1, "The LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear?" Isaiah 60:20, "our sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end." 1 John 1:5, "God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." Jesus is the "Rock" - 1 Cor. 10:4, " . . . for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ." See also 1 Pet. 2:4-8. Cross reference this to God in Deut. 32:4, "He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he." See also 2 Sam. 22:32 and Isaiah 17:10. Jesus is the "Savior" - John 4:42, "They said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.’" 1 John 4:14, "And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world." Cross reference this to God in Isaiah 43:3, "For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior" Isaiah 45:21, " . . . And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me." Jesus is the "Shepherd" - John 10:11, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." Heb. 13:20, "May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep . . . " See also John 10:14, 16, 1 Pet. 2:25. Cross reference this to God in Psalm 23:1, "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want." Isaiah 40:11, "He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young." Jesus was condemned to death by the Jewish leaders because He claimed to be the Messiah & God in the flesh in Mark 14:61-65, "But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? 62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? 64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. 65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands." Here Jesus not only claims to be the unique Son of the blessed God, but He also says that He will be seated at the right hand of the Father, and therefore a co-occupant of God’s heavenly throne. He also states that He is the Son of Man who comes on the clouds. Now to see why Jesus’ use of “the Son of Man” is significant compare His statement above with the following passage from Daniel: “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into His presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed” (Daniel 7:13-14) In v. 14 where it says all peoples, nations, and men of every language worshiped him, the word for worship in Aramaic is ‘pĕlach’. When the word appears in the Aramaic portions of the Old Testament it is either used in reference to the exclusive worship given to God Almighty, or to the idolatrous service to false gods by people of other beliefs. Hence, this Aramaic word clearly refers to exclusive divine worship and yet the Son of Man, whom Daniel saw and whom Jesus Christ claims to be, receives this very worship indicating that He is God! Since Daniel’s Son of Man is a person who is able to approach the Ancient of days, receive authority, glory, power, divine worship from all people, and everlasting dominion then He is a being that transcends all humanity and shares in the exclusive attributes and glory of God. In other words, this Son of Man would have to be God! No wonder Jesus’ words in Mark 14:61-65 were considered so blasphemous that the high priest tore his clothes. The members of the Sanhedrin knew He was claiming deity here, which they took be blasphemous since they erroneously assumed that Jesus was nothing more than an ordinary flesh and blood Jew. In addition to Jesus’ specific claims about Himself, His disciples also acknowledged the deity of Christ. They claimed that Jesus had the right to forgive sins-something only God can do-as it is God who is offended by sin (Acts 5:31; Colossians 3:13; Psalm 130:4; Jeremiah 31:34). In close connection with this last claim, Jesus is also said to be the one who will “judge the living and the dead” (2 Timothy 4:1). Thomas cried out to Jesus, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28). Paul calls Jesus “great God and Savior” (Titus 2:13) and points out that prior to His incarnation Jesus existed in the “form of God” (Philippians 2:5-8). God the Father says regarding Jesus: “Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever” (Hebrews 1:8). John states that “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word [Jesus] was God” (John 1:1). Examples of Scriptures that teach the deity of Christ are many (see Revelation 1:17, 2:8, 22:13; 1 Corinthians 10:4; 1 Peter 2:6-8; Psalm 18:2, 95:1; 1 Peter 5:4; Hebrews 13:20), but even one of these is enough to show that Christ was considered to be God by His followers. Jesus is also given titles that are unique to YHWH (the formal name of God) in the Old Testament. The Old Testament title “redeemer” (Psalm 130:7; Hosea 13:14) is used of Jesus in the New Testament (Titus 2:13; Revelation 5:9). Jesus is called Immanuel-“God with us”-in Matthew 1. In Zechariah 12:10, it is YHWH who says, “They will look on me, the one they have pierced.” But the New Testament applies this to Jesus’ crucifixion (John 19:37; Revelation 1:7). If it is YHWH who is pierced and looked upon, and Jesus was the one pierced and looked upon, then Jesus is YHWH. Paul interprets Isaiah 45:22-23 as applying to Jesus in Philippians 2:10-11. Further, Jesus’ name is used alongside God’s in prayer “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Galatians 1:3; Ephesians 1:2). This would be blasphemy if Christ were not deity. The name of Jesus appears with God's in Jesus' commanded to baptize “in the name [singular] of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19; see also 2 Corinthians 13:14). Question: "Is Jesus God? Did Jesus ever claim to be God?" Answer: The Bible never records Jesus saying the precise words, “I am God.” That does not mean, however, that He did not proclaim that He is God. Take for example Jesus’ words in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” We need only to look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement to know He was claiming to be God. They tried to stone Him for this very reason: “You, a mere man, claim to be God” (John 10:33). The Jews understood exactly what Jesus was claiming-deity. When Jesus declared, “I and the Father are one,” He was saying that He and the Father are of one nature and essence. John 8:58 is another example. Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth … before Abraham was born, I am!” Jews who heard this statement responded by taking up stones to kill Him for blasphemy, as the Mosaic Law commanded (Leviticus 24:16). John reiterates the concept of Jesus’ deity: “The Word [Jesus] was God” and “the Word became flesh” (John 1:1, 14). These verses clearly indicate that Jesus is God in the flesh. Acts 20:28 tells us, “Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.” Who bought the church with His own blood? Jesus Christ. And this same verse declares that God purchased His church with His own blood. Therefore, Jesus is God! Thomas the disciple declared concerning Jesus, “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). Jesus does not correct him. Titus 2:13 encourages us to wait for the coming of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ (see also 2 Peter 1:1). In Hebrews 1:8, the Father declares of Jesus, “But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.’” The Father refers to Jesus as “O God,” indicating that Jesus is indeed God. In Revelation, an angel instructed the apostle John to only worship God (Revelation 19:10). Several times in Scripture Jesus receives worship (Matthew 2:11; 14:33; 28:9, 17; Luke 24:52; John 9:38). He never rebukes people for worshiping Him. If Jesus were not God, He would have told people to not worship Him, just as the angel in Revelation did. There are many other passages of Scripture that argue for Jesus’ deity. The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that, if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the world (1 John 2:2). A created being, which Jesus would be if He were not God, could not pay the infinite penalty required for sin against an infinite God. Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Only God could take on the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21), die, and be resurrected, proving His victory over sin and death. Question: "Is Jesus God in the flesh? Why is it important that Jesus is God in the flesh?" Answer: Since Jesus’ conception by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-38), the real identity of Jesus Christ has always been questioned by skeptics. It began with Mary's fiancé, Joseph, who was afraid to marry her when she revealed that she was pregnant (Matthew 1:18-24). He took her as his wife only after the angel confirmed to him that the child she carried was the Son of God. Hundreds of years before the birth of Christ, the prophet Isaiah foretold the coming of God's Son: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). When the angel spoke to Joseph and announced the impending birth of Jesus, he alluded to Isaiah’s prophecy: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God with us’)" (Matthew 1:23). This did not mean they were to name the baby Immanuel; it meant that "God with us" was the baby’s identity. Jesus was God coming in the flesh to dwell with man. Jesus Himself understood the speculation about His identity. He asked His disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" (Matthew 16:13; Mark 8:27). The answers varied, as they do today. Then Jesus asked a more pressing question: "Who do you say that I am?" (Matthew 16:15). Peter gave the right answer: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16). Jesus affirmed the truth of Peter’s answer and promised that, upon that truth, He would build His church (Matthew 16:18). The true nature and identity of Jesus Christ has eternal significance. Every person must answer the question Jesus asked His disciples: "Who do you say that I am?" He gave us the correct answer in many ways. In John 14:9-10, Jesus said, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work." The Bible is clear about the divine nature of the Lord Jesus Christ (see John 1:1-14). Philippians 2:6-7 says that, although Jesus was "in very nature God, He did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness." Colossians 2:9 says, “In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” Jesus is fully God and fully man, and the fact of His incarnation is of utmost importance. He lived a human life but did not possess a sin nature as we do. He was tempted but never sinned (Hebrews 2:14-18; 4:15). Sin entered the world through Adam, and Adam’s sinful nature has been transferred to every baby born into the world (Romans 5:12)-except for Jesus. Because Jesus did not have a human father, He did not inherit a sin nature. He possessed the divine nature from His Heavenly Father. Jesus had to meet all the requirements of a holy God before He could be an acceptable sacrifice for our sin (John 8:29; Hebrews 9:14). He had to fulfill over three hundred prophecies about the Messiah that God, through the prophets, had foretold (Matthew 4:13-14; Luke 22:37; Isaiah 53; Micah 5:2). Since the fall of man (Genesis 3:21-23), the only way to be made right with God has been the blood of an innocent sacrifice (Leviticus 9:2; Numbers 28:19; Deuteronomy 15:21; Hebrews 9:22). Jesus was the final, perfect sacrifice that satisfied forever God's wrath against sin (Hebrews 10:14). His divine nature made Him fit for the work of Redeemer; His human body allowed Him to shed the blood necessary to redeem. No human being with a sin nature could pay such a debt. No one else could meet the requirements to become the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world (Matthew 26:28; 1 John 2:2). If Jesus were merely a good man as some claim, then He had a sin nature and was not perfect. In that case, His death and resurrection would have no power to save anyone. Because Jesus was God in the flesh, He alone could pay the debt we owed to God. His victory over death and the grave won the victory for everyone who puts their trust in Him (John 1:12; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 17). Actions that can be accomplished only by God are credited to Jesus. Jesus not only raised the dead (John 5:21, 11:38-44) and forgave sins (Acts 5:31, 13:38), He created and sustains the universe (John 1:2; Colossians 1:16-17). This becomes even clearer when one considers YHWH said He was alone during creation (Isaiah 44:24). Further, Christ possesses attributes that only deity can have: eternality (John 8:58), omnipresence (Matthew 18:20, 28:20), omniscience (Matthew 16:21), and omnipotence (John 11:38-44). Now, it is one thing to claim to be God or to fool someone into believing it is true, and something else entirely to prove it to be so. Christ offered many miracles as proof of His claim to deity. Just a few of Jesus' miracles include turning water to wine (John 2:7), walking on water (Matthew 14:25), multiplying physical objects (John 6:11), healing the blind (John 9:7), the lame (Mark 2:3), and the sick (Matthew 9:35; Mark 1:40-42), and even raising people from the dead (John 11:43-44; Luke 7:11-15; Mark 5:35). Moreover, Christ Himself rose from the dead. Far from the so-called dying and rising gods of pagan mythology, nothing like the resurrection is seriously claimed by other religions, and no other claim has as much extra-scriptural confirmation. +spaniardviii You have misunderstood my intent. I am not trying to convince you since there is no need. I simply used your excellent statement about the deity of Christ & added it to it, not for your benefit, but for others reading these comments. Many read the comments in the comments section & I have found that it is an excellent way to witness for Christ to those readers & to help other Christians reading them as well. In this case I had just created this "deity of Jesus" computer tract in response to someone else on our video "IS JESUS GOD ALMIGHTY IN THE FLESH MEANING THE SECOND PERSON OF THE TRINITY OR IS HE SOMETHING ELSE?" at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_BlPm7M7uv8.html & then happened to come to this video in response to someone else. I noticed your comments here & thought, hey, I can throw this in here in case a Jehovah's Witness reads your comment & then mine. It's just about witnessing, not to you specifically, but to others. 1 Peter 3:15

+spaniardviii The HCSB is a good translation. Holman Christian Standard Bible - History The motive for the Holman Christian Standard Bible translators to produce yet another English translation stemmed from the need for each new generation of English speakers to have a translation that reflected changes in the English language. Because English is the first truly global language, the publishers sought to produce a version that served a large cross section of English-speaking people throughout the world. After several years of preliminary development, Holman Bible Publishers, the oldest Bible publisher in America, assembled an international, interdenominational team of 90 scholars, all of whom were committed to biblical inerrancy. Smaller teams of editors, stylists, and proofreaders then corrected and polished the translation. Outside consultants contributed valuable suggestions from their areas of expertise. An executive team then reviewed the final manuscripts. The HCSB® was first published in 1999. Holman Christian Standard Bible - Translation Method Using original Greek and Hebrew texts, the Holman Christian Standard Bible used the optimal equivalence approach to translation which seeks to combine the best features of formal equivalence (word-for-word) and dynamic equivalence (thought-for-thought). In places where a literal rendering might be unclear, a more dynamic translation is given. The HCSB® has chosen to use the balance and beauty of optimal equivalence for a fresh translation of God's Word that is both faithful to the words God inspired and "user friendly" to modern readers. At the same time, in keeping with a long line of Bible publications, the Holman Christian Standard Bible has retained a number of features found in traditional Bibles, including traditional theological vocabulary, traditional name and place name spellings, and capitalization of deity pronouns and words referring to the members of the Trinity. The HCSB® is noted for extensive use of footnotes to help the reader understand the original biblical language or how it is translated. Holman Christian Standard Bible - Pro’s and Con’s Some claim the Holman Christian Standard Bible is too literal (formal equivalence) and some say it is too free (dynamic equivalence). This likely means that, for the most part, the translators of the HCSB® succeeded in their goal of optimal equivalence. Many feel that a translation of the Bible should not be named after a company, organization, or person. Perhaps "Christian Standard Bible" would have been a more appropriate title. Holman Christian Standard Bible - Sample Verses John 1:1, 14 - “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 3:16 - “"For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 8:58 - “Jesus said to them, ‘I assure you: Before Abraham was, I am.’" Ephesians 2:8-9 - “For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift-not from works, so that no one can boast.” Titus 2:13 - “while we wait for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Recommended Resources: How to Choose a Translation for All Its Worth: A Guide to Understanding and Using Bible Versions by Gordon D. +spaniardviii We have an entire playlist dealing with the Trinity called "Dealing with Anti Trinitarians (UPC) & Early Church History" with 50 videos at ru-vid.com/group/PL9931642C7C8FFEAB. True salvation & true belief in the true Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, is predicated on the supernatural & sovereign act of God in making someone "born again" (John 3:3-8). As Christians we cannot argue, cajole, or debate a lost sinner into the kingdom of God. The salvation of a sinner is totally up to the sovereignty & power of God because after all Jesus said it best in Mark 10:27, "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." John 3:3-8 is very instructive when it comes to how a lost sinner actually comes into true salvation. Jesus is having a conversation with Nicodemus who is a leader and a ruler of the Jews, a Pharisee. He’s a teacher, someone who ostensibly knows the Word of God and biblical theology, Old Testament theology. But he’s burdened because he wants to enter the Kingdom of God and in spite of his religiosity he’s not satisfied that he has attained that, that he has entered the Kingdom of God. So Jesus speaks to him in John 3:3 and says, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born from above, anothen, born again, or born from above,” but let’s look at it as born from above which is an alternative translation since that’s what the rest of the passage seems to emphasize. “Unless one is born from above, he can’t see the Kingdom of God.” And what is He saying to Nicodemus? “Nicodemus, you’re working really hard to get into the Kingdom of God. But I want to tell you something. You don’t get in there from here, it comes from above. If you’re going to be regenerated, it has to come down from above. You can’t achieve it.” And, of course, we understand that, right? Because the Jews were trying to work their way into the Kingdom and the message of Jesus is, “You can’t do it that way, it comes down from above. Nicodemus, if you want to enter the Kingdom, you have to be born from above.” And Nicodemus picks up on the paradigm, understands Jesus is talking in an analogy and says, “How can a man be born when he’s old? How can...how can that happen? Look, I didn’t contribute to my first birth, nobody does, and how am I going to make myself be born again? How am I going to do that? How can I enter a second time into my mother’s womb and be born?” He’s talking n metaphoric language, he gets the picture. Jesus is saying, “You need a new birth. You need a wholesale overhaul. You need to be regenerated from above. And his question is, “How can I do that?” And the answer is, “You can’t...you can’t because...verse 6...that which is born of the flesh is flesh, that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. You need a spiritual birth and that doesn’t come from the flesh. So you can’t generate a spiritual birth. You can’t regenerate yourself. It’s not anything you can do. You must be...verse 7...born from above.” So here’s this man coming and saying, “I want to enter the Kingdom of God.” And Jesus’ answer to him is, “Look, this calls for such a dramatic, total regeneration that it can only happen from above. The flesh can’t do it, you can’t do it.” Now this is very instructive, isn’t it, in terms of how we do evangelism? When somebody comes to you and says, “I want to enter the Kingdom of God,” what would you say? You’d probably say, “Well, first of all, pray this prayer.” Really? “Say these words, repeat after me.” I hear that all the time. Jesus didn’t do that. Jesus didn’t say, “Here are the three steps, four steps.” Jesus said, “Look, you have to recognize that this is something you can’t do. This is a divine work that comes down from above and constitutes a total regeneration, new life, and you can’t produce it because flesh can only produce...what?...flesh. You need a spiritual birth from heaven. And then in verse 8, a most amazing statement, “The wind blows,” and He moves the analogy from the analogy of birth to wind. “The wind blows where it wishes, you hear the sound of it, you don’t know where it comes from, you don’t know where its going.” We all know that, right? The wind comes and there it is. We feel it. We see its effect. We don’t know where it’s coming from, we don’t know where it’s going. We can’t initiate it, and we can’t stop it. It operates under power way beyond us. “So is everyone born of the Spirit.” What’s He saying? This is a divine miracle that comes down from heaven. This is not something you can generate. This is not something you can produce. This is not something you can manufacture. This is a spiritual thing, a work of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit comes to whom He will when He wills. That’s such a powerful answer. You’re talking about a divine miracle that comes down from above. Just to seal that, go down to verse 27, same chapter. John the Baptist answered and said, he obviously got the message, “A man can receive nothing unless its been given him from...what?...heaven.” So the message here from Nicodemus is, you want to enter the Kingdom? That’s a divine miracle. That’s something the Spirit does to whom He wills when He wills. He comes and He goes and you see the reality of His arrival but you don’t know where or when. It’s a divine miracle. Now you would conclude from that that this is the doctrine of divine sovereignty, would you not? The Spirit comes when He wants, on whom He wants. That’s a divine sovereign act. Comes from above, gives life to whom He wills when He wills. You can’t manufacture it, you can’t make it happen. You can only receive the heavenly gift by divine sovereignty. For much more on this see "The Sovereignty of God" by A.W. Salvation is by the Sovereign Grace of God, NOT by the Works of Man: Men cannot will their salvation, run for it, or work for it; salvation is totally in the hands of the Lord to give to whom He will. Rom.. 9:16 says: “So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy.” The sinner does not make a decision whether to accept or reject Christ because that option does not lie with the sinner, but with God. The lost sinner can only reject Christ unless God sends His Holy Spirit to save him. True conversion is only by the power of God, not by the will of man. If a person thinks he can save himself by performing the "work" of "deciding for Christ" or "accepting Jesus" at his leisure, then that person believes salvation can be earned by his efforts and not God’s. Read: Rom. 3:20, 27, 4:4-6, 6:23, 9:11, 16, 11:6, 35; I Cor. 1:31, 15:10; Gal. 2:16, 21, 3:2-5, 11-12; Eph. 2:8-10. Thus arguing & debating with the same unsaved heretics & phony religionists endlessly who have not been touched by God's saving power is a total waste of time. The apostle Paul recognized this fact when he said in Titus 3:10-11, "A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself." 1 Peter 3:15 ( (for an excellent exposition of this verse hear Dr. James White's message "The Defense of Our Faith" at www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=7415173271)
