Also, there is an art to squad selection that people don't talk about cos like having a squad where there isn't a big drop off in many positions is an underrated advantage. They had that advantage in the whole defence (plus goalie), midfield bar rodri and in CF. Italy had that too in 2021. If you really focused on them it was clear they would do well.

Not playing Gordon on the left as carvajal was nowhere near tested for his pace. Foden being forced in which pushes Bellingham out of position, ruins the effectiveness of the team. Also Kane should not have stayed on as long as he did. As soon as he came off for Watkins, you can see the immediate panic as the CB’s have to watch for the in behind passes.
