I had survived an extremely abusive childhood then fell victim to a “dirty John.” He ruined my life. There are so many more out there. Please be aware.

I just love that daughter!! She is a tower of strength. Her mama has turned a terrible situation into a mission to help other woman! D sad he’s tough too!!! Love that green romper!

I fell for a charmer once, all the red flags were there but I had said early on I wasn’t having sex before marriage because of my Christian faith. The temptation was so great and the feelings so good but I had to choose whether this man would be good for me. He pursued me more. I believe he wanted to break my faith and lose my strong morals. He got banned from 2 sports clubs for stealing and his pregnant girlfriend rang me. He had also been in prison but he said he was young and dumb when he stole a credit card (even though it was only a year ago). Conclusion is I stayed firm in my boundaries, never kissed him or slept with him and I’m so proud of that. 2 years later he tries to friend me on Facebook but I decline. I know what’s good for me and I won’t be so quick to fall for a charmer now, actions speak louder than words.

Don't ignore those "taps on your shoulder." I did but the gut knows.

My dad was just like Dirty John. My life was hell growing up, and to make matters worst, I dated men just like him for years up until I finally recognized the pattern and broke the cycle and met my now-husband. My husband's ex was a female version of Dirty John. I think it's important to acknowledge that women are just as capable of this type of abuse as men.

I lived this and the police did not believe me. My ex is John and he was a master manipulator! He had an answer for everything, I was lucky enough to escape

Terra reminds me of Susan Walters who in 2006, killed a Hitman named Ed Haffey hired by her evil husband in self-defense (who died in prison of lung cancer in 2014.)with her barehands! She also struggles with ptds. And one interesting thing to note is that the attack on Susan Walters by Ed Haffey happened ten years before the attack on Terra by John Meehan!

Mom needs to be accountable for her piss poor choices! She couldn’t get into bed fast enough with John, she chose to ignore evidence and I don’t think Debra should be treated like a hero! However, the daughters are the true heroes!

I was in a situation si.ilr to debra , about 30 years ago , with a guy I met said he was originally from Bakersfield, ca , I met him through one of our old neighbors before we moved to the valley closer to work , he lied about his name, said his son committed suicide, and that his mother was dead , which both were a lie, they both were alive ,I found out he had been in prison for murder and was on death row for 11 years ,long story short he shot my 9 year old from a previous marriage in leg , invited his two nephews to come live with us ,2 months after that he had made things so bad for one of the nephews he caught a greyhound bus back to California, 2 weeks later he got a gun after his other nephew, lucky jack could run out the back door and hid for a while then went to town and filed charges on him , he also tried choking me todeath before all that with his nephews happened, while he was in jail I divorced him , but he was such a shrewd character he only spent 2 years behind bars , he was told to leave the state and never come back , after that I dont know where he went or if hes alive or any thing about him, theirs a lot more in between, but this is enough to get the idea across to what life can be with someone like him , I don't live at same place I did when all that happened, I'm single , and as of now I'm not planning on getting involved with another man

As long as there are women like Deborah, there will be men like dirty John! Honestly, the mother is to blame for the whole situation that happened to her family and especially to the young Terra ... If it weren't for the eldest daughter who figured everything out from the start, Deborah would still be married, in agony with filthy John...
