One thing I think is worth mentioning is how many great, defensive plays/passes Justin Holl made. I watched the game with my dad and even he was asking for who #3 was because of how often he just did the simple, correct thing in a heated game.

This team is tougher. Yzerman brought in some gritty veterans and our young players are a year older. Special teams are way better so far. Break outs are better but as you pointed out at times they still play dump and chase. Good start!

Trust the Yzerplan...it is working. A power play near 50 percent after 5 games is just one indication but their overall play has just been better this year. LGRW.

What's funny about Jeff Petry is that Detroit brought him in partly because he has a reputation for pairing well with Ben Chiarot. I've seen them play together, and I can kind of understand it. I also get the feeling that they probably worked better four years ago, before father time took away a some of their motor and punished them for behaving like riverboat gamblers. They are both defensive liabilities who play super-aggressive on offense, and that will get you burned.
