Annie Oakley wasn't a cowgirl. She was from Ohio and was a sharpshooter in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. She didn't work cattle.

Funny, you say cowboys wore bowler hats, and show photos of guys in suits in bowlers, but all the working men you show are guys in slouch hats, and sombreros

Sitting on a horse for three months without a shower doesn't sound romantic to me.

The "Cowboy" era, particularly driving cattle to market, only lasted about twenty years, then the big feat would be moving them from one pasture to the other, or the spring round-up and branding, which is what rodeos portray.

Excellent video! I’m an old guy who grew up watching every western I could possibly watch. Always was fascinated by both the outrageous Hollywood tales and the realities I could find. Nice to find out most of these facts.

You are not really accurate with the type of hat cowboys wore. In the southwest the working cowboys wore a type of Mexican sombrero. Look at photos of Texas cavalry Confederates. They wore the wide brimmed hats they brought from home into the war. Maybe the Northern cowboys wore bowlers but in the southwest a wider brim kept the sun out of the man's eyes. It often had a low crown as well, (I have a photo of my g,great grandfather with one in Oklahoma 1880s). If you look at photos of REAL cowboys you will see that. Plus, photographers often had props for customers which probably included bowlers.
