I loved this video Cilya! I’m noticing the same thing regarding my 8 month journey thus far. The expectation is not the reality when it comes to how they look. As you so eloquently stated, each loc is an individual that make up one’s unique look. Thin, thick, strong, weakened, colored or grey they are the threads that make up our unique hair tapestry. Have a blessed week!

I feel you on the reason for choosing Sisterlocks! I am very anal and like the uniform look. I have driven myself crazy taking down and redoing certain locs so they aren't super big. I am on my second set because the first set had grid issues and were too large. Sometimes you have to let go and let God. These locs have a mind of their own. And as you said, there are many factors that go into why the loc looks the way it does. At the end of the day, it's a journey that will have ups and downs. But it is definitely worth it. It is teaching me patience and helping me to remember I can't control everything. Thank you for this video!

Yes! LET GO AND LET GOD lol. I was killing myself over how certain things looked but I just learned to appreciate where Im at because at the end of the day. Everything turned out better than I expected when I originally got the locs installed. Im glad you came to good terms with your journey and I hope the best for this second round! 💕

It never fails to make me smile when I hear someone calling the hair at the back of their head on their neck 'the kitchen.' No matter what state that person is from, that area of their head is called 'the kitchen.'

Thanks for sharing! Cause you mentioned alot of things I have noticed on my locs. I enjoy your videos period. Working out in locs, the time you had to go through a longer than normal reties and I ❤ the styles you have shared. I been watching you since your your establishment.

The journey has been amazing. I see similar issues with my locs, some thinner some thicker. My 1 year is 9-28 so I’ve resolved to less to no manipulation until completely locked. Let let her do her own thing. Your hair is absolutely beautiful. Your channel is informative and your spirit draws people in. Continue being unapologetically BeaYOUtiful ❤

Thank you so much! Im glad you enjoy the content. I try to be as transparent as possible. I did this on a whim because it just came over me on a day I felt like I was having a bad hair day. I hoped sharing would help and Im so happy with the turnout 💕

I’ve been going to through the same thing Cilya! As my locs mature, some of them are getting stronger/thicker, but others need to be combined (especially around the edges, so they won’t fall out). Focusing on the overall health of my hair helps ease my worries, as well as talking with my loctician.
@cilyahowell0529
@cilyahowell0529 Год назад
Yes I totally agree. Focusing on the bigger picture makes things less stressful. As long as you’re always actively trying your best to keep your hair healthy and communicating with your loctician thats all that matters.

Great video thank you! I've had my sisterlocks for 6 months now and recently spoke to my loctition as I was worried about a couple locs the way they looked and she told me that sisterlocks are not a perfect science. That was very reassuring for me to hear and your video echoes that x

I started my microlocs on my own & all of my babies are so different. One side of my hair naturally grows thicker, its not obvious to others but I can tell when I'm styling. My curls in the back are much tighter than in the front so my hair back there is like perfectly compact & a lil shorter. Also, my hair is much drier than it's ever been and I know its because I don't wash it as much as I did when I was loose natural so the texture feels not as soft as I'm used to. But it's forcing me to relearn my hair and get comfortable with where I am now. I wouldn't change a thing

Omg I noticed the thickness difference too. But I love the term relearning! Im glad you’re embracing it ❤️

Thank you so much i enjoy your transparency. Im experiencing itching i just coloured my hair two weeks ago but even before that it was itchy but it seens worse i wash it twice a month , i am one year and three months (not completely locked) so i had thoughts of combing them out

Try using the Nizoral shampoo it helps with the itchiness I was experiencing.

Try to stick it out! At least to the 2 yr mark to see if there is improvement because hair dye changes texture. Did you get it professionally colored?

@@cilyahowell0529 no I dyed it myself 😭 but I won't do that anymore. Ok I'll wait for another year thank youuuuuuuu
