If wages kept pace with productivity as they did in the 1960s and 1970s, the US federal minimum wage in 2024 would be $22 per hour. It's $7.75.

Everyone I know is doing side hustles and gigs for cash while living with family or friends. Especially the young guys, guys don't need much to live and are checking out of marraige and society because the juice just isn't worth the squeeze anymore. It's bad for society tho, so the ladies better step up and they can always marry each other too...

There’s a lot to unpack here. But generally, no matter the gender, the gig economy is changing what careers look like and I told a room of manufacturers this week that the average influencer income is $60k/yr. They are competing with the flexibility of this and they need to redefine their ways of working & building roles.

It sounds reasonable to me. I retired and have no desire to go back into the workforce right now. A problem I saw when working was employers don't know what they want in an employee. They are really, really picky about who they will hire, but they put out very, very generic job announcements. This causes unqualified/minimally qualified applicants to apply, plus it causes a lot of applicants who may have SOME of the listed qualifications (but not the right ones) to get dropped from consideration. It also causes those who would be qualified to not apply since the job description is so confusing. Another is folks looking for a better job, a position of advancement, but an employer is only looking for someone to 'lateral over' from doing an exact same job at another company. It would really discourage me from job hunting if I was still in the workforce.

There is definitely a disappointing disconnect between what employers say they want in job descriptions and what they actually expect from employees. I always advise people to apply for roles at companies they want to work for regardless of the job description requirements like 10 years experience in a software language 4 years old. They are so desperate to fill positions right now they need candidates who have even part of the skills listed.

Nobody wants to work for worth less Federal Reserve Notes.

Interesting take. Objects have value based on individual perception & societal understanding. But I think the numbers in this video show that those who can work are in general and the idea that “nobody wants to work” misses the entire point of the video.

@@WillAutomate ok try this Instead, only the foolish work hard for Federal Reserve Notes. Smart people know if you want to get ahead in this fraud based economy you can't actually work hard for someone else or produce any value that can be and is always stolen through inflation. The object of this top down fraudulent economy is to get as much as you can without producing any value for others. Federal Reserve Notes ensure the trickle down criminal mindset. And you're a fool if you don't get it by now. It's not like employers have anything of value to trade for labor.

Theyve debased the dollar so much that these wages dont buy anything worth a damn like a nice house, vacations, nice cars, family. Instead you get barely enough to make it to the next pay check. NO fucking thank you.
