If wages kept pace with productivity as they did in the 1960s and 1970s, the US federal minimum wage in 2024 would be $22 per hour. It's $7.75.

Great stuff Will. Can you help please? I need a proximity switch triggered by a magnet to count rotations on a coil winder. Does the width of the sensor affect sensitivity and therefore determine the maximum winding speed?

I'm sorry but if you still believe this you're mentally ill. Slavery has always existed, the word comes from the 9th century meaning "Slavonic captive" who was enslaved by Spanish Muslims, yet in this video, you bring up the word is "harmful" to "black people, to brown people and to people of colour" whilst using tags "#DEI", "#inclusion" & "#industrialautomation". I thought I was the only person that felt this way. I am glad to know I am not. Primary and secondary is always used for the very same context of application. Why do we have to come up with this master/slave terminology? I going to research and find out who or what organization started this terminology. I kinda have a feeling where it will lead me. So sad that this mindset is still being used systematically.

I've worked hard to try to remove this from my every-day but it is quite challenging! I've found for industrial devices where i work I find myself saying "scanner and device" or "Scanner and node" more than anything.

I appreciate how you explained the retroreflective photoelectric sensors. Much like how you struggled with alignment of the sensor and reflector, i am having issues at different heights also. Are there simple tools i can use to align them? Example being 8 feet apart at different heights
@WillAutomate
@WillAutomate 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for the question Nic. I've see a few tech's use a line laser level or laser pointer to get the lineup easier between two, especially if the light source is infrared or something hard to see. Alignment is definitely a challenge for thru-beam sensors and retro-reflective sensors.

There can be a lot of other reasons as well, the location of manufacturing setups are normally in remote places that are not very accessible and suitable. Also the production demands can be overwhelming to cater to when you are indulged equally in your workplace and catering to your family as well.

Will, is there a standard wiring configuration for M12 a-a-coded sensors. (2,3,4&5 wire)???
@WillAutomate
@WillAutomate Год назад
Yes absolutely. Should make a video. IEC has a standard. 2-3-4-5 all follow it in an M12 Acoded. Pin 1 - Brown - power (24v or + positive) Pin 2 - White - NC signal or alternate function Pin 3 - Blue - common ( 0V or - negative) Pin 4 - Black - NO signal or sensor output or actuator input pin 5 - Green or Green/Yellow - Earth Ground when needed like for analog signals. Alternate Pin 5 - Grey - additional device function.

Nobody wants to work for worth less Federal Reserve Notes.
@WillAutomate
@WillAutomate Год назад
Interesting take. Objects have value based on individual perception & societal understanding. But I think the numbers in this video show that those who can work are in general and the idea that “nobody wants to work” misses the entire point of the video.
@greorbowlfinder7078
@greorbowlfinder7078 Год назад
@@WillAutomate ok try this Instead, only the foolish work hard for Federal Reserve Notes. Smart people know if you want to get ahead in this fraud based economy you can't actually work hard for someone else or produce any value that can be and is always stolen through inflation. The object of this top down fraudulent economy is to get as much as you can without producing any value for others. Federal Reserve Notes ensure the trickle down criminal mindset. And you're a fool if you don't get it by now. It's not like employers have anything of value to trade for labor.

Theyve debased the dollar so much that these wages dont buy anything worth a damn like a nice house, vacations, nice cars, family. Instead you get barely enough to make it to the next pay check. NO fucking thank you.
@CrossForum
@CrossForum Год назад
It sounds reasonable to me. I retired and have no desire to go back into the workforce right now. A problem I saw when working was employers don't know what they want in an employee. They are really, really picky about who they will hire, but they put out very, very generic job announcements. This causes unqualified/minimally qualified applicants to apply, plus it causes a lot of applicants who may have SOME of the listed qualifications (but not the right ones) to get dropped from consideration. It also causes those who would be qualified to not apply since the job description is so confusing. Another is folks looking for a better job, a position of advancement, but an employer is only looking for someone to 'lateral over' from doing an exact same job at another company. It would really discourage me from job hunting if I was still in the workforce.
@WillAutomate
@WillAutomate Год назад
There is definitely a disappointing disconnect between what employers say they want in job descriptions and what they actually expect from employees. I always advise people to apply for roles at companies they want to work for regardless of the job description requirements like 10 years experience in a software language 4 years old. They are so desperate to fill positions right now they need candidates who have even part of the skills listed.

Everyone I know is doing side hustles and gigs for cash while living with family or friends. Especially the young guys, guys don't need much to live and are checking out of marraige and society because the juice just isn't worth the squeeze anymore. It's bad for society tho, so the ladies better step up and they can always marry each other too...
@WillAutomate
@WillAutomate Год назад
There’s a lot to unpack here. But generally, no matter the gender, the gig economy is changing what careers look like and I told a room of manufacturers this week that the average influencer income is $60k/yr. They are competing with the flexibility of this and they need to redefine their ways of working & building roles.

Do you have any idea how you can by pass the linear sensor
@WillAutomate
@WillAutomate Год назад
Typically most are part of a closed loop system providing position feedback. As soon as this is attempted its likely that the application could no longer work and possibly be dangerous by giving the controller an erroneous signal.

Hello Will..thanks for the info on diffuse photoelectric sensors..if I may ask..my currentl diffuse photoelectric sensor does not emit red light and the receiver signal light keeps blinking..it doesn't do the job..could you help me how to fix it?..thanks..
@WillAutomate
@WillAutomate Год назад
Tough to know exactly what is wrong. Did that specific sensor ever have a visible red light? Some photoelectric sensors are infrared and you can't see them. I cover light sources here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PyBvrGNPRpE.html If the signal light is blinking there is commonly a code in the manual if you find it online that tells you what the blink means (fast versus slow, pattern or color). It also could be that the dial/program is set very low or even that the light is turned off by the function of the sensor. Or if it was in use for a while, it might just be bad or burned out. I would start with the partnumber and the manual online and work thru the above suggestions. Hope they help!
@schiz8860
@schiz8860 Год назад
Thanks for yout reply Will..actually my sensor is IPF PN630520 laser sensor..it doesn't have visible red laser light but the other sensors exactly the same as this do have. I found one manual about this sensor and it is showing an instruction about qTeach. I tried following the steps but no success. Or maybe I am not doing it right.
