I just feel its dumb to try and compare any specific fighter stat or attribute across different weight classes. Smaller guys are faster, so look better when striking. These are the worlds Best fighters at 185 currently, and we dont necessarily see any major skill discrepancies. That to me indicates a competitive weight class, regardless of the former, current, or future champion's reign. I only started to watch in 2012, but I didnt hear people say Anderson Silva fought bums. He's clearly the greatest 185er, but we can objectively say that a prime Silva beats a prime Adasanya? Its not a simple answer right? These are the comparisons we can rather be making.

The take on Lawler vs MacDonald was potentially flawed, as many person's "best fight" isn't defined as "the fight with the greatest display of skills over the largest percentage of ring time". Drama, beef, history, toughness, theatre, grit, revenge, atonement, brutality, unpredictability, etc. can all contribute to making a fight amazing. Those factors (and others) are what can make the "best" fights.

Some of your Izzy comments on who beat him are reasonable, but he outstruck Rob in both fights. The reason the second fight could have gone to Rob was because of his grappling in close rounds. Also in terms of pure damage, in the 2nd fight as a whole, he dealt way more damage than Rob (mainly cuz of rd 1 being the most dominant rd by far)

Prochazka vs Texeira is the best mma fight ever. It had everything except for bullshit drama. Striking, wrestling, BJJ, many momentum switches and near finishes on both sides, it was a display of technique as well as grit and determination. Everyone assumed the fight would end quickly either by Prochazka cracking Texeira or by Texeira taking Jiri down and making quick work of him there. Instead, Texeira showed he's very competitive on feet while Jiri proved that he is more than capable on the ground. And then it ended in a finish that noone expected, with Prochazka submitting the BJJ master Texeira at the end of 5th round.
Izzy has quite literally outstruck everyone besides Jan who had a grappling threat and Alex in the second fight (where izzy found the finish). The first Alex fight he dominated until he got caught, which is also how their kickboxing bouts went. Alex is elite Top 5 we know this. Izzy is on his level or barely below it. One bad performance against the ultimate point fighter strickland and he’s not Top 10? That’s a terrible take. He’s definitely Top 10, top 5 is debatable. Side note: I’m tired of people counting close decisions as losses for fighters who won the fight. How does a win count against you? That doesn’t make any sense. Fights can be close with a clear winner.

Robert and Strickland did out stuck him but they are also high lever strikers themselves. It’s not really definitive but there is an argument for Izzy as top 10 when you consider his skills, accolades, and resume. It’s really all subjective.
