Love to see your Nuuly reviews pop up not cos I care about your clothing (though that’s fun too) but because I find your ramblings equal part hilarious and comforting 😂
The first coat!! Fav item. And I totally get you on the accent thing, since I'm from England if I watch too much UK TV I get lots of my accent back, same as any time I've gone back there it's sort of instant, I fully think it's part of a survival instinct of trying to fit in. When we moved here like 18yrs ago, we stopped in Australia for a couple of days and I picked up their scent so quickly, especially the word "water" for some reason
fabric composition tip - if it doesn't say the fabric comp in the title of the item, it's almost definitely a blend of plastic fibers. if it does say "Wool Coat" for example, it's still worth checking to see if it's a sneaky 80% acrylic, 20% wool blend or something edit: as someone who also has extremely annoying sensory issues with clothes, figuring out which fabrics you actually wear is huge. for me it was the missing puzzle piece for why I just didn't wear certain items in my closet despite loving the style of them or whatever
Ok as a fellow libra I literally could not have related more to you about the indecision around the jacket 😭😭😭 literally me!! I will go around to everyone I know trying to get them to help me decide because I just can’t. Also, the waiting 2 years to buy something!! I have indeed done this and recently waited like a year to finally buy a swimsuit!!
If it makes you feel any better, I was up until 4 am the night before moving to Japan frantically packing and re-packing my bags to try and make them the right weight for the flight and man. I really shit the bed. I packed multiple things that straight up do not fit or that I don't even really like, certain seasons are crazy over-represented, I didn't pack my favorite jacket that I used to wear all the time..... so you're not alone in the packing struggle!
The accent thing is so true. I was told I don’t sound like I’m from California, that you can’t tell where I’m from but this was said to me when I was on the East coast. I also don’t have the typical chicano accent but when I’m around certain friends, it pops out a bit. When I was in Korea and I had a lot of Chinese friends in class with very basic English skills, I started to sound like them more. It’s different than when a monolingual native English speaker talks to non native speakers (i.e. stupidly slow) my inflection is different
ISo happy you found the jacket on Thredup! I was going to suggest that as it seems you can find almost anythind secondhand. And pass on the Bernardo jacket. I bought one from Thredup actually (same material but different plaid) and it pilled almost immediately and was not warm at all. I gave up and went back to my thrifted wool coats!
hi hi! (commenting from main account lmao) they're Lotta from Stockholm! I bought from the "seconds" section which are any shoes that have minor defects, sold at a discount! I haven't even noticed any defects or imperfections so definitely worth it for me!
