Dr. Jackson Gates has been found liable after the parents of a baby who was decapitated during childbirth at a metro Atlanta hospital filed a lawsuit against him for posting video of the baby's autopsy on social media.

The lack of empathy for the parents from both the hospital and doctors involved is extremely deplorable. Why not ask the parents, FIRST, for their permission to post their child? Now Dr. Gatse is going on a social media justice rant defending what he did all in the name of exposing the hospital and doctor that killed their child. That doesn't justify posting their baby without their consent, even for so-called educational purposes. This entire situation is so SICK!

Empathy means putting yourself in their place, imagining what it would feel like to be in their position. It's much easier, for some, to feel sympathy but it's not impossible to feel empathy or both even.

Empathy involves actively sharing in the emotional experience of the other person. I understand empathy completely. I experience it to the extent that it is debilitating. If you can put yourself in the other person's shoes, and literally share/feel that pain, you are experiencing empathy. It is not imagination, that is sympathy. Sympathy is feeling, empathy is an experience. On the contrary, you appear to not understand the difference.

If it was for 'educational purposes', as he claimed, that would need to be confined to actual medical school classes, and not posted for the general public. The general public doesn't do autopsies, and don't need to know how. He knew this particular baby would get him the clicks and views he needed to be a social media icon.

@galndixie doctors post things to social media for educational purposes all the time. The key is patient permission. My dentist has a form you sign if you consent to your procedures being posted for educational purposes, because it's still confidential information. Even In a teaching hospital you as a patient have a right to request that medical students leave the room when you're with your doctor.

How they found out was even more atrocious! Baby was sent to the funeral home and when they opened the box, there was no head, just a body. The fact that the hospital hid the fact that the baby was decapitated and held him up so the parents could see thru a plexiglass window and not be allowed to hold their child was beyond disgusting and disgraceful. 😢

Even if I was allowed consent from the son's parents, morally it would be disgustingly reprehensible for me to post autopsy pictures of a decapitated or dismembered baby on social media. I really can't recall hearing anything as disturbing and ridiculous as this. I try hard, almost daily to NOT give up on humanity as it is, or seems to be as of today. We are living in some truly sick, horrifying and immoral times. I'm at a total loss of words at this point. Ain't no way...... Even if he did do it for 'educational purposes', he still, morally, ethically, and legally, needed the consent of the parents. Nobody has a right to put your dead baby's body in the public eye for any reason without your consent, especially when you're going to show it being autopsied. I feel so sorry for these young parents, the heartbreak and tragedy of all that happened to their poor child, and then to be faced with this insulting breach of humanity and compassion, is beyond belief. My prayers go out to them and all members of their families.

The doctor has no moral sensibility towards the parents of their deceased baby by posting the deseased baby on social media. I hope the parents get justice for their baby.

They should lose their medical licenses. The obgyn needs prison time. You killed their baby then covered it up! Everyone involved in the cover up needs to go to jail!! As a healthcare professional myself, I could never imagine covering something like this up!! They should all be ashamed of themselves!!

My heart breaks for these parents...they have been repeatedly traumatized by those who they entrusted with their most precious part of their lives and they were let down in ways that are beyond criminal. I hope and pray they not only find peace for themselves but they receive justice. Looks like Fulton County Georgia needs to be cleaned out of even more corrupted people in charge. Good lord...what is up with this place?!?!
