Thanks for watching! Do you have the Decathlon Forclaz Trek 100 jacket, or are thinking of buying one? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

And yet, you could also be hiking with a £400 down jacket in -0C, which could then end up been way too warm, I used this jacket yesterday in -3C, with a hard shell jacket, and it was absolutely perfect.

@@journeyanywear I am currently not heating my room at all, its around 10C I am glad I bought the 3XL I can pull the sleeves down when my hands get cold and they warm up so fast, if its really, really cold, you can do that as well as using the pockets for extra insulation, its incredible how efficient duck down is, you look at the insulation in this jacket and could think, well thats not very thick, and it is not really, but wow, so incredibly warm, and light too, I seen a you tube video recently of someone that chose a really big down jacket, he said he regretted it, and it was so warm, it was pretty much useless, I can believe that, £60 for this in incredible value, even though is gone up from £40 in about two years, having a hood is really handy and this one is so warm, also it cant blow away, and you cant leave it on the bus like I did with my hat 😆 bus company found it, hoping to pick up on Friday 😃, I'm glad you like your jacket, thanks for the vid, and the comment on mine here, I think if I was going into extreme cold like -10C to -25C I think I would probably layer a couple of down jackets, I am thinking of doing this with my decathlon 10C down sleeping bag to get it to go gown to around -5C to -10C, mind you you can always use these down jackets to boost a sleeping bags rating too, down is such amazing stuff, nothing compares to it that mankind has made. (Ps, your right about the massive flaps that go round the hood, and how they look, its good they are there to pull up and keep the whole neck and lower face warm when its really cold, when its unzipped, I have learned to tuck them under on the inside of the jacket on each side, if your wearing an outer shell this works really well.)

Im from Ireland and i bought one of these jackets in 2021 and its my go to colder weather jacket. I have a few high end expensive down jackets but this does me most of the year. I really like it and im going to buy a new one in a different colour. Only downside is that is has jumped up 40% in price in three years. I paid €49 for my original and it now retails at €69.

Glad to hear that this has been your go-to jacket as well, even more than the more expensive jackets! It really holds its value. I agree with your downside, I've seen the price jump over the years as well, here in US. Good luck choosing a new color when buying a new one! Cheers 👍🏽

I agree with the collar thing, it would look better if it stood up like Arc’teryx. If decathlon put a hood string adjustment to tighten it up, that would make it stand up, and it might then dominate the lightweight jacket market.

You can wear a Down Jacket as part of your layer system under another coat in extreme weather. I use down jackets like they are Jumpers .... I have about 8 - 10 of them ... and my first hooded down Jacket [brand new with tags] only cost me £15 including post, from Ireland. I actually bought a decathlon hooded down jacket just a few moments ago ... seriously ... for only £18 inc post .... and the tag on it says its full down [no mention of feathers] so I'm guessing it's probably not the forclaz trek 100 [it says : Down Jacket Full Down Grey ... on the label]. It is the same design, but without the FORCLAZ logo on the left arm. I'm an XL so I bought a 3XL, and it should arrive in 3 days. PS: I plan on cutting up most of the Down Jackets I own to make other things ... the cheapest one I've bought cost £5 inc post ... and once, I bought an XL down gilet [BNWT] for £14 from Ireland ... but got sent a BNWT 2XL 400 fill down Regatta Jacket instead [the tag on that one said £250]. Edit : I just noticed in a photo that it has a "Quechua" logo on the seam by the right pocket ... the Decathlon label is on the inside.

I have the synthetic down version, do you have any info on that one? like, does it keep you warm just like the RDS down material or less? Thank you
@journeyanywear
@journeyanywear 3 месяца назад
Hey! I'm not sure about the synthetic down version - I haven't been able to test that one out yet. But I've read that synthetic insulation handles water/moisture better, and dries faster than the regular down. However, the regular down is better at keeping you warm, is more lightweight, and performs better in warmer/cooler temperatures!

Hey! Thinking about buying this as well for central europe trip. Do you think it was at all out of place or too “backpacker” looking for the city? We want to hopefully hit a michelin restaurant/some clubs in prague and want to fit in.
@journeyanywear
@journeyanywear 2 года назад
Hey Chris! Thanks for checking out the vid. That's awesome you're heading to central Europe and visiting Prague too - it's such an awesome city! I don't think it looks too backpacker-like for walking around the city, hitting up beer spots, and doing casual activities (I saw many others wearing puffy down jackets too). Now if you're going to a Michelin restaurant and going to a club...I probably wouldn't use this, and would prefer something more sleek-looking. If this is your only jacket though I think you should be fine - I feel like the locals would know you're a tourist regardless of the jacket you use, lol!! Good luck with the decision man!

Uniqlo vs decathlon, Which down jacket you like the most? Means which is kindaa worth for money?
@journeyanywear
@journeyanywear Год назад
I think they're both worth it for the money! But if I were to choose, I'd pick my Decathlon Forclaz Trek 100 - for a little more money, you get a more durable jacket that includes a hood as well. I think the Decathlon jacket is better for overall adventuring/hiking/traveling. Note though that it is quite puffy though! If you want to save a few bucks and get a more low key/stylish jacket to walk around town and travel with too, the Uniqlo Ultralight Down will be fine (unless you get a faulty one like mine in this video 😆). Check out the Uniqlo jacket review on my channel for more info on it - cheers!

The down jacket featured in this video is not very warm and the Uniqlo one it’s actually warmer.Don’t just look at the down fill power but also at how much of that down there is inside of the jacket. Also look at what the shell and lining is made of and how thick it is as well as whether or not it is coded with any DWR finish.

@journeyanywear

Hi there! I haven't worn the Patagonia down sweater so I can't specifically comment on its features - but I do see it's selling for $279. The Decathlon down jacket is a budget down jacket option, though I've heard in other reviews that it's as good as down jackets that are hundreds of dollars.

Hi there! I mentioned my size in the video 😄

This down jacket costs very little for a reason, it will only keep you warm during a summer hike at night assuming you’re wearing layers underneath. It certainly isn’t for cold weather although that depends on what your definition of cold weather is.
@journeyanywear
@journeyanywear Год назад
I definitely agree that "cold" is different for many people! Obviously from its price, it's not going to perform as good as other down jackets that are hundreds of dollars more. But that's ok - some people are willing to make the cost tradeoff if it suits their purposes. Thanks for your comments!
