Charlie Hankins used to live there. I used to go to his shop in Lavallette right next to the post office.. I remember when the moved the old house off that island and took it to Tuckerten its a museum now. Grew up right in the area. Near Chadwick beach
Other then being the most densely populated state in the country with the highest property taxes and auto insurance in the country, pure corruption from the piece of shit Democrat Gov all the way down to local corrupt democrat mayors that created communist laws that take so many of our constitutional rights away from the citizens , NJ is a nice state
This is awesome 👍 I'm a huge fan of urban exploration. This is like a ghost 👻 town....or island. The homes aren't even that old! Unbelievable. The hurricane 🌀 rolled through, demolished and never looked back. Gotta love mother nature
There is an old law in the books about claiming abandoned properties. Its called reverse trespass. The catch is, you have to make the placere-inhabitable[or build a house there] that can be taxed. It has to be inspected by the tax assessor, then it's yours. Depends, what's the Island worth? How much to tear it down & build a small cottage there?
The truth of claiming an abandoned building or property is you, but you first must try to find the owner,.then typically you have to.pay back taxes, and property liens and insurance costs.
I agree so sad to see how the home was trashed. I will never understand why people do that . The house should be torn down for safety reasons and the value is in the land.
I’ve been recently looking into this. With the amount of abandoned properties here in the state, I’d like to claim one. I can’t afford to buy outright or rent with the prices going so far up, but these homes deserve a second chance
My family's house is very close to this on the barrier island. This island is part of the backdrop of my entire life. It makes me sad to see it like this up close. I'm used to seeing it from across the water. I remember when someone lived here when I was growing up.
That’s awesome, I’ve really loved hearing locals in the comments talking about their experience and knowledge of the island. Thank you so much for sharing Its such an eye grabber
well, "multi million dollar pricate island" sounds better than $850k derelict property that PA sustem is called an intercom. by 1991 it was way out of style. man that loft bedroom is(was) so sweet. u told me a few things i didnt know. fantastic info. thank you very much
Need to pick better background music..just dont go with what ur showing..better to find out all you can about the place and narrate as you walk thru..other than that cool video
@@exquisitedecay5672Look at other abandoned videos. Instrumental mood music, not what you used, and certainly not Springsteen or Bon Jovi. You're missing the whole point.
Like I said it’s sort of in limbo, some llc bought it in 2007 for 100$ so what you can assume is the property was already having some issues. After sandy the Llc tried to get a payout from the insurance company I’m thinking for repairs or upkeep spent on keeping the house from falling apart. However it seems they are still as of late going at it in court so the property may go up for sale in the next year or so, I think more likely it’ll be absorbed into the neighboring nature preserve
At least in the states it’s usually a matter between banks. The properties foreclose and usually sit in legal limbo for quite some time, I’m sure this property could be bought somehow its likely owned by a bank now who wants a return of some kind on it. Sometimes they get turned over to local or state governments, the island could definitely become part of a nature reserve that the surrounding marshes are already included in. Local governments in some cases also have the power to deem a site unsafe or an eyesore and demolish it, but I have no clue if this place sits within the township’s jurisdiction
Lmao not one person has gone on the island and posted it from what I can find tons of drone stuff tho, why are you actively seeking videos of the island out get a life
