So few of these Park-Ward limosines are in existence anymore. I rarely every see them come up for sale. Rodd has the best collection of rare British cars that it's a pleasure watching these videos.

You are so correct about the raised roofline as far as eye appeal, I can see it makes a huge difference. Lovely car
@novaseline4u

Absolutely. Things like this make all the difference when a vehicle is designed from the ground up as a limousine. As compared to the standard stretches done here in the US, the compound curves of that roof, in addition to its elegance, greatly strengthens the panel, and reduces any likelihood of vibration or noise transmission into the vehicle interior. I'd love to have seen how that unibody was built. The rocker panels would have to be several layers thick. I would bet it would take two or three men to lift those assemblies onto a jig for body assembly. That car is just incredible. Nobody does an interior quite like the British. In a class by itself.

Truly beautiful special one-off Rolls_Royce. Rodd I never get tired of watching your channel and video. I just wish that you could post a video a little more often, as it really seems like such a long time since your last video. Maybe a Christmas 🤶 special 📮 posting?. Thanks......

This is what a limousine should be, tasteful and understated. Modern American limousines are ostentatious and gauche. Americans should have kept their eyes on Rolls-Royce and Jaguar Daimler to see what good taste really is.

100% agree. Elegance is based on refinement

Thank you for this presentation! The factory extension of the car by Mulliner is indeed superb. I appreciate the commentary regarding this and a "stretch limo" that took some of the dignity away from the limousine. Indeed, I had no idea that the roof design on such aftermarket stretch jobs show a roof that droops. I wonder how roadworthy any of those vehicle are quite honestly. Although I am sure that there are others, the only American coachbuilder that comes to mind as having exception eningeering and build quality was Lehmann-Peterson in the 1960s. Ford was so impressed with the company's customization of the Lincoln Continental that it warrantied the car. I love how the classic Rolls-Royce of this era was built to last rather than built to a price for disposal after a few years. I've always subscribed to the perspective of buy the best that you can afford, and enjoy it for a long time rather than the planned obsolesence concept of consumerism. I'm not sure how I feel about contemporary Rolls Royce cars, although I feel its true DNA is linked to the current Bentley, even if the grand Mulsanne is no longer with us.

The main purpose of making cars is to sell them. These are so beautiful that I can understand the temptation to squirrel them away. But a collection of this size must be one hell of a drain on anybody's resources.

Lovely dignified gentleman's carriage... Hoopers did an Emperor State Limousine based on the Spirit Similar transition - total 40 inch added length with 4 inch increase in height, longer rear doors and rear quarter, higher windows and roof line in proportion. Most had centre jump seats. Also a central sunroof They did one State Landaulette with central sunroof, rear mohair convertible plus a lift out targa top for standing for ceremonial occasions. Came to Australia for a year in 1993.

Makes sense to have the door ahead of the seats. Then passengers using the occasional seats don't have to climb over the back seat passengers.

Just wondering if the large "Sprit of Extasy" (flying lady) at the entrance to your beautiful facility, came from the former Peter Satori showroom on Colorado Street, in Pasadena? I remember one set in an elegant Batchelder- tile fountain in Satori's showroom. Satori, an suave English man, was a pioneering post WW2 distributor/dealer of English cars. He product- placed a lot of Rolls-Royce cars in many golden-age movies and TV shows, and had a sizable high-society/celebrity clientele. The historic building, a former 1920's Nash dealership, next to the Norton Simon Museum, is now Rusnak's and continues to sell Rolls-Royce and Bentley automobiles.

🤔 Not sure if I like this or not. I'd lean more towards the 60s and 70s Daimler limousines myself, they just look more regal and dignified. However, I very much doubt I will own anything like this, because it just isn't my cup of tea. I want to drive the car, not be driven in the car. Back when I was in my mid twenties in 2014, I scrimpt and saved for my first car, a Rover P6 V8 series II. Now that's a car you can enjoy driving, it will cling to the road, and slide around if you want it to, but all the while you can feel it questioning your actions. Every time I did something stupid like driving down a pitch black country road at over twice the speed limit, or driving around in circles and sliding around old pallets at an abandoned industrial area near where I worked, I could almost feel it mocking me, "oh really sir, when are you going to grow up?" But it always complied, never complained and even though I abused it, it passed every MOT without a single advisory, all I had to do was change the oil, brake fluid, diff fluid, transmission fluid, brake pads and tyres, occasionally. Unlike my modern BMW coupe that seems to need work every other day. I'm seriously considering selling the BMW and getting a Rover P4 as a replacement. The P6 consumes a lot of fuel. But I digress, I had the opportunity to own a Daimler DS420 limousine, beautifully appointed inside, in white, clean service history, lived in a garage it's whole. The chap was only asking £1100, begging for someone to take it away and give it a good home rather than sending it to the claw. Which is the first problem with these cars. Where does one put them if they don't have a massive garage? It's not like you could happily drive a limousine to work every day!
