yes! I've started some of it, but kinda dropped off when a routine for me completely fell out :( I have a new love for seeing sleepy dogs hanging out with their owners and it's sooo cute. Seeing Leica is so heartwarming. It's so amazing seeing your life evelove over the years from your content, to moving in with WJP, getting a job, travels, spirituality, WARDE, and getting a dog. Your videos transport me to a healthier state of mind. It's been a tough day and a bit as we just lost our dog, Ghost, of 6 and a half years. I put off clicking watch knowing Leica looks so much like our old boy and it would be too hard. But your radiant energy and pure love came through and seeing Leica entering such a happy journey gave me so much love. I feel so proud that we also gave Ghost a similar journey of happiness. I feel you need to appreciate your life more! the part where you said it felt kinda sad to end a decade like you didn't do enough made me so angry.. in 24, living with my parents, don't have a job, living in South Africa which is totally corrupt.. feel like I'm wasting my life away so I'm moving to Bali soon.. but you have eveerythingg.. I don't even have friends that I can see frequently.. I know your 30 now and it's hard but you have SO much to be grateful for Rachel SO many people ENVY you including me.. you have a great boyfriend, a great social life, a great house, fame, what more do you want? just say a little prayer every night before you sleep thanking the universe for everything in your life and you'll appreciate your life more. I know after you got a little more positive but so many times in your videos the mood is a bit low cause you regret stuff or have FOMO or something
Not sure if you’re a long time watcher or not but I’m sure that those words didn’t come from a place of ungratefulness. Rach has also expressed in precious videos that she doesn’t really believe in FOMO. When it comes to an ending of a year or period of our lives I think we all get a little introspective or even existential sometimes. Rach also did explain and show gratitude to the people in her life who made her 20s so wonderful and that she was ready to move forward. Personally I enjoy the low moods sometimes. I find them really relatable and spark some of my own thoughts about how i could improve my life.
thank you guys both for this message. @nadine - you're right, I don't mean to sound discounting and also am very grateful in many ways for the life I have. I know I'm lucky, and it's a lovely reminder that we can ALL find moments of gratitude each day in our lives. Even if the going gets tough. Even if our circumstances don't align with our goals. Granted, as @Elisha has graciously said is, yes, true, I've learned not to lean into my social FOMO, but I still need work on my success FOMO. It's all relative, isn't it? Ofc, I recognize I am in a bubble. LA and pretty much SoCal is a huge, thick, glass bubble. A bubble of dream-driven souls who either have wildly successful brands, have made it in Forbes 30 under 30, aspirational slashers (meaning they have 5 different streams of income but are actually barely surviving because they can't break into an industry), or even married with kids by 30. But this comment is a beautiful reminder to also be mindful of how we let it affect us. I have a really great life, one that I repeatedly remind myself that I am incredibly LUCKY in a lot of ways. Some days it stops me in my tracks that I get do to what I do. That WOW, if my parents just let me go to prom that one night, my life wouldn't be the same because I wouldn't have been frustrated enough to get lost on the internet and make a blog 13 years ago. Maybe what I have, checks off your personal values in a quality life. It's *still* all relative! I am human too, and I'm still valid to feel how I feel while being given space (which you've allowed me to do by watching my creative processing). Yes, I have a great foundation with someone I love, but sometimes when we fight, it gets really, really heated. Sometimes I question how normal is normal fighting? Sometimes I wonder, IS THIS IT? 6 YEARS, ARE WE GONNA GET MARRIED? DO WE EVEN NEED TO? LIKE WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DONT? IDK. Ok, I get invited to cool swanky events, but more often it leaves me feeling drained and questioning the depth of some friendships and if inputting energy is worth the output. Also, I love my home, too much. It took me 9 patient months to find it, but now, after only 4 months, I have to figure out how to afford time, money, and energy to MOVE. My stuff is still there, but I'm couch surfing because little did I realize, the "sickness/cold/flu" I couldn't shake for the 4 months since moving into this house, was because of black mold. Ultimately, right now, yeah, I'm in a fucking bind. I also know I have it a lot better than others. I know also, that I am privileged to have family close to lean on (not that they financially help, but I know I have a place to stay when I know others might not in my predicament). I'm lucky if I can get through the day laughing about it and I try. I was in that mood when I filmed that portion in the video. Some days I want to cry about it too. Some days I want to punch through the wall. Feelings that I wouldn't ever invalidate in someone else - even if they have more than me. Also, because I'm already halfway through my meltdown, remember I don't share every.moment.in.my.life. Not because I am trying to showcase my life in a certain light, but because my life dramas aren't always my own laundry to air out. I respect the people in my life's narrative to not take it there. So these missing pieces become an imaginative playground to create stories about others. Missing puzzle pieces that from the outside-looking-in, it is impossible to know what the piece looks like. But what more do I want? I want a safe space to communicate my thoughts, even if at the moment, it doesn't sound like the right thing to say, I STILL FEEL IT. That's why I created Warde, a safe space on the internet. I hope I can share my candid thoughts, which yeah, Saggittaruses like myself are born with their foot in their mouth. I'm not fucking perfect. The things you listed, are things I have and thought I wanted, but I still catch myself spiraling in my head. So I guess it's a life we'll continue to discover. All we really do want, is to be happy, no? SORRY for my downward spiral. This triggered a vent. I try to share moments that make me happy or introspective, so someone can take my lens and see how it can momentarily shift their own perspective. Or see the beauty in the unconventional, and hope that it inspires someone to look at their own surroundings differently. That's why I like making these videos. OK, I'm gonna stop making this about me because really, I know you're frustrated. EVERYONE HAS A DAMN RIGHT TO BE FRUSTRATED. THAT'S HOW WE GROW. Maybe you feel that life hasn't dealt the cards you want. But it WILL happen, and you will appreciate it so much more when it does. Maybe it's not exactly what you thought you wanted, I hope it's BETTER than what you could've imagined for yourself. I've heard amazing things about Bali - I've read stories, articles, and friends' posts of life-changing experiences there and I'm glad that you've taken a huge leap into an unknown to explore that. Because that's a hell lot braver than me, weeping in California, a hell-bent, dreamlike state I was damned and lucky to be raised in. I commend you. I commend you for writing this. Commend you for putting me in check. Commend you for standing up for what you know you deserve. You're ahead too! You know you deserve better. There are hurt souls out there that don't reach further because they feel they deserve better. That's a real crime here. I hope that we can ALL recognize that if we have a friend in that mindset and remind them that fuck, you deserve more. You deserve to be HAPPY and to make that next step, no matter how big or small, to start your journey there. Yes I am a long time viewer and I recently did your reset video from like 2 years ago and where you drew that diagram (family, friends, work) etc I just realized every single title in my life is negative.. recently broke up with my boyfriend after 4 years, don’t have a job, don’t have a lot of savings, don’t have friends I can see often. And yes when I realized that it just made me angry but also motivated me to make a change (hence moving to Bali) so even though I discouraged you your still SUCH an inspiration to me, i lived in China for a year which was absolute hell and your videos still always inspired me and made me feel a little better..that last paragraph made me cry and I will treasure it forever. @Rachel Thanks for taking the time to reply with such a long and honest message, even if it is a rant. I understand the success FOMO as I decide what type of career I want to pursue (creative or medical). I keep comparing and contrasting the life I could have with both but it is so hard to make a decision and to let go of one. As a person who is in a committed relationship myself, I really empathise with the overwhelming, dark and whirlwind of emotions that can rise when there are disagreements. I hope that love and kindness can help you process how you think and feel and support you! I really admire how you respect other people’s privacy and not film every single detail in your day. I think we have all seen low long it took Weston to adjust to the camera and I’m sure we are all grateful to see the lovely moments you share together. The content you capture at the moment is wonderful, the short clips remind us all that there is beauty in everyday and they’re like little happy and beautiful moments we can revisit and hold onto. One of my favourite quotes is, “if you’re not growing, you’re dying” and I guess that why it can feel so damn scary and frustrating when things change or something unexpected happens. Frustration is all part of the grieving and the process, you have every right to let it out! A small word of advice: try to not let those emotions consume you and use it to find your “why’. Keep questioning your beliefs and thoughts at this time to help find the outcome you want and some answers. Write them down, ask what other people think if you’re brave. Sometimes we can get so into our heads that we don’t see another path or perspective. @Nadine I wish you safe and memorable travels to Bali! I would suggest really learning the laws and customs over there. I have seen some heartbreaking cases to do will illicit drugs and some innocent people being falsely criminalized. I’m sorry that your life seems to be all negative and I’m sorry for all of your losses. It’s amazing how you took your anger and turned it into something positive. Are you and Wes okay? I don't know but for some reason he doesn't seem interested in you or the trip or something. He's just kinda there. I just don't see love in his eyes when he looks at you. With some people it's easy to tell when they love someone, maybe it's just different with the two of you. Just an observation.
It's a lot to unbox, one that I'm not gonna try to explain over the internet, but the core of what you're seeing is him actually shutting down completely when a camera is on. we're lucky we have footage of wes in the wild hahaha
I get dead eyes when someone points a camera at me so I totally feel for him...some of us simply can't exist authentically when we feel so observed. I can't describe it any other way than it feels invasive and everything I do after that feels preformed and I am not a preformer...with other people it doesn't look that way at all. Rachel looks really comfortable and natural in front of the camera. People are different like that
