When he opened the generator box I expected a much bigger generator to be behind the door(given the size of the box). Like a 20KW or larger but a 9K is a still something.
My buddy just bought a 6 kw light tower of a rental company we got it wired with a sub panel on it so you can either use the lights or 240 30 amps for a tranfer switch like yours in garage got it to manual start or auto start like yours only paid 1500 for it got a three cyclinder diesel and he can still tow it if needed got plugs on the feed from it to garage
Love the New Color Changing Lights and also love the New Paint Job you did on your Garage Entry Door. And as always I Love your Videos keep up the Awesome Work and Videos also not trying to put you on the spot but are you planing on doing a Video for your soon to be New Room with that stuff you showed and where talking about improving the Room?
In Australia, each room has a flush mount speaker and the alert that goes into each room is an audio signal… the main panel has a microphone and you can talk to the whole building using the mic… there is also an “Alert tone” which sounds like your tone, then after a few mins a separate “Evac Tone” with an actual voice asking people to evacuate. . This video is our alert tone, followed by evac: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a0l2RNYas00.html
The UPS that you had attached to the Wi-Fi/internet gear looked like a professional Smart UPS. That version of the UPS should run its own self test once a week. I have similar ones that do the same. It’s not much…..the test only runs for about 5 seconds but at least it is something.
The reason the generator switchover wasn’t clean was because after it started it started to shutoff right as the transfer switch switched over but then the generator came back to life and then it was fine after if you listen at 11:09 you can hear it start to shut off.
Yes I'm aware of that that part is pretty obvious. it's trying to figure out what the reason is that it didn't fully start. Possibly wasn't given enough time before load was transferred especially being on Eco mode so RPM was low.
You should run some CAT6 or CAT5e around your house so you could place access points everywhere and have fast internet speeds, even if you don't have fast internet, you can still use the speed to transfer files across the network. Just buy a small rack, maybe 4-6 rack spaces and get some patch panels and switches. That's how I set my network up on the cheap and it's working well for me, even allows you to add poe cameras and servers or a NAS. Not sure about prices on the island but here on the mainland it's pretty cheap and easy to retrofit. I have no regrets, except for not getting a rackmount router, that would be pretty nice.
Is your new phone the iPhone 15 Pro Max? Also, for the generator maybe the fuel had to go through the filters and carb. Just like how the one at your high school cranked slower after the fuel filter was changed when you filmed the load bank test.
Yep that's my new one. And yeah that could be it or I'm thinking it was the load transferred over too fast before it had properly got up to speed especially being it's on eco-mode so lower RPMs
@33:16 Nope, won't take any more Windows updates since Microsoft ended total support on January 2020. You could finagle with ESU (Extended Support Updates) but there is a process to that and for what your access control system is used for, I doubt messing around with getting ESU patches for free is worth the effort.
What kind of current phone do you have now Nic I heard that you said you had a iPhone 14 Pro Max last time and that sounds awesome right now I have the 15 Pro Max now and it’s awesome where it’s all USB-C now and where you could also use an SSD where you could plug it in the phone and just instantly record to that drive.
15 Pro Max now it's nice being able to record 4K 60 and switch lenses slightly better camera and USB-C is nice and it's a bit lighter other than that it's pretty much the exact same lol
Nic this is crazy its already december Congrats on 19.1k Love all ur vids i am looking foward to the annual by the way i wanna ask does ur house have the wire from the old smoke detectors still there or did u take it out its crazy ur 17 years old and u know this much anyways congrats on 19.1k nick hope u hit 20k soon!
You should program the HVAC shutdown relay to only open if certain smoke detectors activate and the duct detector do you dont have to deal with it shutting down every time the alarm goes off
Very nice! Love all the variation in how you test certain things. looks like the system's are doing great! 19:16 Did you forget to censor that or is it just hard to hear what your saying over the panel yelling at you? lol I don't mind the swearing, but I know you usually censor it out lol
@@Eterrnal_Andrew But at 20:36 he did cuss by saying s***. Now yes unlike TemporalEngineering, I don't like the sometimes usage of swearing in his videos but it makes it better if it would be censored out as it appears he forgot or decided to not care at all and I kinda wished you can edit the video audio in your RU-vid studio without having to delete it, edit it, and re-upload it to censor profanity
Everything looks good Nic like always, i saw your post about the middle school fire thats scary im glad everyone was safe, did you go to that school? Did I tell you that the fire alarms were i work non of them in the main lobby downstairs work anymore, we had a false alarm recently, it only went off upstairs, any ideas why? I guess I need to call the alarm company
You should have a delay on the ATS you shouldn't have it swap as soon as power is detected, gives the generator a chance to warm up. Your putting a load on it before the generator has a chance to idle to speed.
Yes and no because it's never happened before and the generator itself doesn't switch on its power until it's at speed. I could slow down my entire set up by putting a time delay relay on the coil to the generator power contactor and give it a few extra seconds would slow down the total time however
Never been a fan of mesh networks. If you aren't sure, a mesh network relies on wireless connections between access points. And you still have to power them so at that point I'd just use PoE with a star topology. You can achieve the 'one network' thing without having to switch on your devices just by matching the SSID and passwords. You may intermittently run into a common issue where devices get 'stuck' on one access point. I believe Ubiquiti's APs have a 'fast bss' setting which mitigates this, and other APs have other names for it such as fast/seamless roaming. This feature obvs depends on matching the brand, and really it's just a cope for our devices being badly designed, as they don't have preference for faster WiFi signals. Don't let anyone knock your generator as it's more than the vast majority of people have achieved, you're just making the best of the resources you have. I love how seamlessly it works. Also I respect you using Windows 7, probably my all time favorite OS.
I guess I use the wrong terminology is what I meant by a mesh network is where all access points are wired back to a switch but you don't have to manually change which access points your device is connected to as you move around the building maybe the name is a roaming network where it will automatically pick up the strongest signal
@@nics-systems-electric i can highly recommend ubiquiti access points, i would get a cloudkey though as the cloudkey is what makes roaming around between access points more seamless, its constantly checking the connection strength and moves you between points for optimal connection.
@@nics-systems-electric the dream machine is just the controller for the ubiquity access points and would allow you to have as many Apps as you want with one network, if you already have one Ubiquity AP then it would make it simple and have one network throughout the whole house / garage, if you RU-vid ubiquity networks there are many good videos explaining it.
Hey I have question that hope that can help me with our alarm was showing a low battery and connected my voltage meter it show 13.3 voltage is a bad battery or issue our alarm system
Had a faulty battery on our burglar alarm because soon put in the new battery the low battery warning went away but also 4 year old so I was not surprised
I have a question for you. I had an MS 9600UDLS demo system. It had three smoke detectors and two modules. Unfortunately the 9600udls had a power supply issue. The screen would flicker off and on rapidly and the system was flooded with AC fault and Restoral signals. After this happened all three of my sd365 smoke detectors randomly went off into alarm or dirty detector trouble. My question is this. Is it possible the 9600udls damaged my 3 sd365s? If I use these same smoke detectors on a new addressable panel, would that be OK? I'm worried that the 9600udls damaged these detectors. Also, is it possible if the detectors are damaged that they could damage the new SLC on the new panel? I know that this is a long question so thank you.
I can't say for sure if it would have damaged the detectors or not. if it caused some sort of strange overvoltage on the SLC it's possible. But I wouldn't be worried about putting them on a new system to try them out. worst-case scenario they won't work. There is overcurrent and short circuit protection on SLC loops. I would've killed many many systems by now if they didn't. But if you were still worried about it for your own comfort you could put an isolator module in first that way you'll know if they are going overcurrent.
@@nics-systems-electric Got it. I will put an isolator module before each smoke detector when I test them. I'm glad to hear that putting the detectors on a new system won't damage the new systems SLC. I appreciate your advice.
@@nics-systems-electric Oh, I thought you looked really young and now I know why lol. I'm 19 and I have a Student Credit card. I believe it's the same here in the States. All that aside, I get some sense of dopamine from your videos lol.
