Peter Robinson described his thoughts on Decentralized Sequnecers, and why he thinks that BFT consensus algorithms are appropriate for this usage. He then does a deep dive on QBFT, for formally verified BFT consensus algorithm.

Is QBFT compatible with optimistic rollups sequencing ?

The question comes down to have you see the derivation pipeline working, and what is the source of truth for the chain / rollup. Also to be considered is how you see forced inclusions working.

One thing I got wrong (thank you Roshan Singh for pointing this out www.linkedin.com/in/roshansinghindia/). Clique is BFT. It can have forks. Blocks aren't final until all nodes have built a new block on top of an existing block.
