Grand Design is toast. Way too many experienced Rv folks having MAJOR problems. Holy moly that daylight under the bed into the garage?????

The garage door was open. Otherwise, it would've been dark, and we wouldn't have noticed.

There is even more space once you raise the bed to allow more headroom in the garage. I'm not a fan of this design at all but have several friends with it who really love it. 🤷‍♀️

You'd think that for the money, the manufacturer would have hired a QA/QC person to check the fit and finish before it was delivered.

I agree! Manufacturers often boast about their Pre-Delivery Inspections, yet there's still a lot of room for improvement. Yep another momentum with a bunch of problems. My wife is a travel nurse. And we're looking in becoming new to the Full time RV life. We originally thought we wanted GD Momentum. Not now. We won't even consider one.

They all have their problems, just some more than others. When you do find the right RV, be sure to get an independent inspection before you sign that dotted line. Happy hunting, and welcome to the RV life!

Great video of a thorough inspection. We bought our 2018 GD used in 2020. When we were looking at it, the dealer tried to keep us from going on the roof. No roof, no sale. We went on the roof. We like Grand Design but I can say I would struggle to justify choosing a new RV and really would not put GD in my top five. The bed on that model in your video raises up to load things into the garage, so you have complete open access between bedroom and garage. The front recliners are sitting under a cabinet that will crack the head of a taller person. The worst thing is that there is no or very little real solid wood in these newer trailers. Pressed boards with contact paper made to look like wood grain. Lovely. And with a price tag over $100k, what a bargain. *sarcasm* Buy used and save yourself the torture.

@@jkroaming we were touring the similar garage model at an RV show with friends who ended up getting one. While some of us were standing in the bedroom, they raised the bed (which on another note is really tall even when lowered for sleeping!) and we could see people in the garage! Just a strange way to design that! The friends use theirs for bicycle storage, which is a great way for bikes to travel safely.

Some similar models have a much better cargo capacity. My initial thought was bicycles and/or scooters. Those make more sense in this type of floorplan. I'm glad your friends are enjoying it, because that's all that matters in the long run.

That trailer should be a triple axel at that weight. I have a 2019 376th that’s pretty much the same floor plan, but a triple axle. Other than new tires, it’s been trouble free.

💯 Several Solitudes and even the Montana Legacy we recently shared have the same flaw. 3 axles would make these models a whole lot more viable.

I have a 23 336m. I must say at first I didn't care for it. After using it for 6 months I've grown to enjoy it. Quality is a issue. Not up to the asking price IMO. Don't think I would buy it again, but love the floorplan.

I recently bought a motor rv. This will be my 4th rv ive bought 2nd motor one. My wive and i learned a lot and what to look for and note. So before we signed the sales man agreed to fix the issues we saw. Also when picking it up we went through it with our list to be sure it was all tooken care of. And i even had them run the water and they rewinterized it with me helping. That way I know where everything is. I set that up before signing that i would be allowed to do so. Other wise i would go somewhere else. Your paying the money so that makes you in charge. Also doing that allows me to get a feel for the guys doing the work in the shop. Treat them with respect and pick there brains. They know rvs better than most of us. I learned quite a lot from him. Made me feel better buying from this dealer. Once you buy the rv you deal with the service department. Ask to be introduced to them. Talk to them and ask questions. These are the people you will see the most if your camper has issues. Not saying it will but things happen better to know the people behind the sales man. You many never see the salesman again. Good luck and have fun.

@jkroaming I don't have a channel. I don't care to be picked apart by horrible humans. I've seen the crappy comments people leave creators just to be mean. I do, however, interact with several people on social media platforms and obviously in the rv community. I have a whole list of names for different brands that have been having major issues, and I use them often. I'll keep using them until these companies improve quality of their products. Lippert is LIEppert. Forest River is Fakest River and so on.

I recently bought a 3970FB Bighorn. Not been able to use it yet due to all the problems ( bought it over 4 months ago ) But even mine wasn’t in that bad of a condition! That’s a really strange layout too, looks like lots of wasted space. Now watch someone put normal living ‘stuff’ in there and break the frame!

Great video. But when you said you can have the dealer fix all the stuff pretty easily that is very true but my thought goes directly to the fact that it Hasan't gone anywhere yet except from the manufacture to the dealer and has that much carnage what is it going to do when you start towing it around to use it. If it can't stay together to get to the buyer it's going to be a very bad camping experience and that will take the joy out of RVing.

So true, no one wants a spoiled camping trip! A few things were *screwy* straight from the manufacturer 😄. The headboard trim was possibly a result of not being secured in the proper location, so when the bed lift was activated, it came off. That should be a 'once and done' fix . . . I'd hope. Neither the buyer nor the dealer can ever fix Grand OSB Design's underlying materials and non-engineering, nor hold them to all the lies in their marketing, like pieces of aluminum foil bubble wrap that magically have an R-value greater than 5-1/2" thick walls in your home. And there is no such thing as "marine grade OSB" as they claim in their tour for their underlayment--that is also outright consumer fraud. This industry needs to stop lobbying and start doing things right.

I wouldn't even there and from the video the quality looked very poor. Worthless carrying capacity. Why even put a washer dryer connection at all. If anyone tried to full time in that would be a total disaster!

First, I can't believe their lack of quality control, they did not see the screw coming thru the front cap, slide rooms seals of lack of, or they did and said, just ship it. Second, a toy hauler with only a CCC of 1516 lbs, what were they thinking, they were not. Nothing Grand about that.

Thank you for this video. It is so sad to see GD go downhill. I have a very early one and it is holding up well. If I were to buy a new 5th wheel, it would not be a GD, but one of 2 other brands. But honestly, I probably wouldn't even buy a brand new one, but used (pre-Covid).

GD has seemed to change over the past few years. You don't necessarily need to fear 'Covid' models. Our 2022 ORV has had minimal issues with us full timing in it for almost two years.

UVW 14200 GVWR 17000 = 2800 payload. Not sure what was up with the sticker you looked at. The cargo capacity should be on the front left. Want someone real junk look at Forest River and Jayco products.

You're looking at brochure weight of a base model. Any added options take away from that weight. Since the factory installed those options, the CCC sticker reflects the added weight.

We had a Grand Design it was cheap garbage. The said they wouldn't honor the warranty after 9 days when it flooded. They lied to us and it was a horrible experience. Never again! Check recalls and class action lawsuits these things are dangerous!

The weight is included if installed at the time of manufacturing. This RV has a base CCC of around 2,500lbs on their website. The generator and other addons are what killed the capacity.

I learned my lesson on 5th wheels. Frames are too light for the weight RV manufacturers put on them. Not enough cargo capacity weight for the size of them. Too many ways for it to come off the line with poor build quality. Like ... a screw through the outer body. Or screws not actually drilled in all the way, or bad seams, or bad caulking, or a million other small issues that just make them overpriced junk.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I believe a lot of the problems you mention apply to all RVs, not just 5th wheels. With motorized RVs, you'll get the standardization and quality of an automobile for the automotive part of the RV. You'll get that with a tow vehicle, too.

Love these videos? I just don’t understand why people buy these.. especially when you are talking load capacity.. we drive a 21 f250 crew cab 4+4 gas? And tow a 21 Winnebago 1708 fb. We have everything we need. Power, room and unlimited weight. I don’t want to bake a turkey or sit in a recliner and watch tv? We are outside chilling. If weather comes? We sit in our little dinette and laugh and make it work with no slide ? Because they all leak and break. Not to mention the price.

Seems like rv quality has definitely gone way down, went to the rv show in Wixom MI, everything is just so cheaply built. My opinion they're all junk.

Yes, it seems like some manufacturers are slipping. Manufacturers are offering lower cost options due to the demand. There's always been cheap RVs. We're just seeing a whole lot more of them now.
