It's crunch time so I need to decide which luxury items I'm packing to move to NYC and which items will be sent for my parents to look after. I'm having to be very honest with myself on the bags/shoes/accessories that I won't be reaching for when I get to NYC - or the ones I can live without for a few months...ENJOY!

It's a tricky business packing everything especially shoes. I've seen people on TikTok putting tiny bags inside bigger ones as a way to get the whole collection. Cass, I hope you have a great time in NYC and I'm happy for you wherever you go.

Good luck Cassie! I emigrated from the U.K. to Singapore last year and it was a nightmare! I did actually ship some of my (less fave) bags and luckily all arrived safe. However, because we flew during covid we had to fly via Thailand for 3 weeks because of quarantine rules etc. I had so many bags in my carry on that the Thai authorities thought I was smuggling bags in to sell 🙄 even after I convinced them it was fine, they still confiscated the Chanel mini I had bought at Heathrow airport and made me pay a bond, because they have a crazy rule that you can’t bring goods into the country worth over a certain amount. Cue leaving Bangkok, I did indeed get the bag back after paying my bond. But omfg it was stressful. NY will be totally fine I’m sure but I did want to share my story for others who may be travelling with a lot of designer goods in hand luggage. If they screen you, you may get asked awkward questions 😂

This was so much fun. I'd be a lot more ruthless in my packing and ultimately have nothing to wear. So, this has definitely helped me put things into perspective 🤣 I also do a lot of jumpy movements when I’m stressed out. Excited for your move!

I wish I could be ruthless with clothes! I started a 1 in 2 out rule in an effort to downsize, but I love so much of what I own AND what I buy. It has helped me to not buy clothes that I feel just okay about

The level of excitement watching who stays and who goes to your mums 🫣 Why do I picture your mum suggesting pieces she’d like to take for a spin behind 😅. I imagine your mum giving love to some of the gems you’re leaving (overlooking the robot bag 🌾👀🌾). Love the mindset of the ones staying behind are just not making it in round 1. Happy packing Cassie! I am a huuuuuuge bag addict, currently have around 60… I know, I need help 😜 But I love them all so much and if I had to choose only a part to take with me abroad, I’d go crazy, cause they’re a very careful selection. I know it doesn’t sound like it is, but I swear it’s true! 😂

I live in NYC. Everyone wears a lot of black and neutrals, especially in Fall & Winter. And lots of Louis Vuitton. I would take the Neverfull. And you’ll want a crossbody bag that zips closed for the subway.

How bad is the subway crime? Does most of the subway crime happen in the bad parts of New York. Almost every week for the ladt 18 months I see a violent crime on the news regarding the New York subways. I live in California but watch the New York news here on RU-vid.

@@patr70 Unfortunately crime is all over the City now, even in Midtown. Since the riots & looting in March 2020 crime in NYC has skyrocketed. Another reason I recommend not calling attention to oneself with brightly colored luxury bags on the street or the subway right now. Going door to door in an Uber it’s okay. For several years leading up to March 2020 NYC was the safest it’s ever been.

From my experience moving in- moving out. For the first trip it's better to pack according to quantity per purpose limits. For example: 3 bags for evening, 3 bags for casual wear, 3 work-agenda bags, 1 beach bag, 1 shopper, 1 travelling bag. Otherwise you'll pack too many nano bags and only one big.

You are so very lucky, when I was moving cross country my mom wouldn't let me keep anything at her house so I got rid of EVERYTHING. I gave my bags to her friends, my shoes and clothes went to the local homeless shelter. Out of all I gave away, I wish I kept my bags. I am so excited for your move.

I know you’ve been to NYC before, probably many times, but just remember that NYC in summer is hotter than the fires of hell. Over the knee boots, or any boots? Uh-uh. But have a blast, pick a neighborhood and make it your own. You are so very, very welcome in our fair city. Safe journey.

Wishing you safe travels; I also wanted to mention the last time I went to NYC in March 22 I did a lot of lux shopping and the plane was full on the way back to tampa, Florida so they made me check my carry on bag I was devastated😭 I did notice people with duffel bag shaped carry on bags didn’t have to check their carry on bag vs the small rolling carry on’s. Literally in the tunnel leading to the plane I was trying to stuff my luxe things into my personal item ugh🙏🏾🙏🏾

Husband once had to check in a rolling duffle and it never made it to the carousel on arrival… it had been destroyed, almost shredded, even though it was a tough fabric by a travel brand. Contents amazingly survived and they paid the cost of a replacement bag but always be aware that they don’t treat your goods like you do.

Be sure to check the cost of living in the new state. I hope your not moving to Virginia because I'm closing on a house today, and what's left on the market is overpriced and overbid. If you're unfamiliar with the neighborhoods renting is a good option because you can learn the areas and have a place to stay if you build. I have to move 27 years of stuff, so I get your pain

@@ubiquitousflow Florida. We have the land already but with building cost skyrocketing, I am thinking we rent for a few years or even buy something smaller until things level out. Building cost have gone up over 50%. So not the right time to be doing this, I wanted to sell two years ago and move but my husband insist that he wanted to work two years more. And here we are.

All the tiny bags need to go to NY. Everything else needs to be sorted by season - take the current and upcoming season with (Summer and Fall), and switch them out for the next two seasons when you return home for a visit. ❤

Take a mix of trendy and classic. Use the trendy as they are items meant to be worn now. The classic items can be brought in bit by bit. Bring a couple now but mostly bring the trendy items:).

Hi Cassie! It was very teraputic watching you choosing what to bring. I live as a digital nomad so we travel around with only a carryon suitcase. I left behind most of my stuff 6 months ago and I miss them so much. It sounds strange but watching you having the same trouble made me feel a little better. :) Have a great flight! :)

As for the bags that you're both taking along and also leaving behind, I think it's a good selection except that I would have left the Prada canvas tote behind. Maybe it's because I had that bag years ago in dark green and sold it. And as for a bag that you're leaving behind, I would take the LV monogram (multi-pochette?). Remember that you will be buying more bags when you get here to The States, so maybe you should reduce your list by about 2-3 bags that you're taking. Greetings from Los Angeles

I think you did pretty good! So shook you hesitated on the Fendi First bag tho, it’s so different and new! But I get having to be selective whenever moving. It’s a really good exercise in revisiting what you wear and don’t wear though so it’s almost kind of good you’re forced to leave stuff behind. And congrats on moving!! I moved to NYC for a fashion design job last august so if you need someone to hangout with lmk! Also do photography if you need pics taken of yourself😁🛫🗽

@@CassieThorpe sounds good! Good luck with the move!🙌🏽 the clothing advice I can give is and this is me coming from Norway, the winter snow and sludge is not as bad as you think it’ll be here and it still gets plenty hot here🤷🏽‍♂️two things I sort of miscalculated when moving.
