Good stuff yet again! I think a lot of people may understand the concepts you lay down but what many don't have (me certainly) is the discipline it takes to not chase squirrels, to stick to a wise course of action. I imagine having a full understanding of the aircraft's capabilities also helps.

Excellent training video for new and not-so-new pilots on your decision process to engage or avoid. It helps that you pointed out your errors as well, as when you fixated on the first enemy you spotted flying low rather than carefully scanning to see if he had friends.

As always - great video. Personally, I really enjoy hearing the thoughts on how and why you fly the way you do. Its great. One of these days, I'll catch you on Discord & you can teach me some of your ways. Sadly though, I am on the enemy side this go-round in the TAW server. Happy Hunting & Have a great day man.

Personally, I like these kind of videos where you explain things because it helps me improve my flying. I really enjoyed recent Fw190 video for the same reason. Also, that was really a nice long range shot on that 109. What convergence do you feel comfortable with the most? I'm between 300-400m depending on the plane.

There was an "gun out of ammo" warning - don't know whether you had multiple calibers of gun, but if not would explain the missed shot.

Thanks for the video, very instructive. Would you mind making more videos like this and maybe getting into a bit more details when the dog-fight happens, especially in defensive positions? I know that ideally one should not start a fight without an advantage, but what usually happens is that more often than not, a beginner (like me) would get bounced and then would madly try to shake the enemy off and in the process predictably lose all the energy and the sight as well.

If you focus while being outnumbered or while losing you can really learn a lot more, than just winning everytime. When people give up on fighting, cuz they don't wanna lose, they only wanna win, they just keep losing, because they lack the experience, the losing gives you, like disengaging, paying more attention, looking around more and just overall you have to be careful about your positioning more, than your aiming, while losing. (Am I right? I don't play simulators, except for War Thunder, but this rule is mostly everywhere where some fighting is) That being said, equal numbers and equal skill of players is better game for *everybody*, but when you are in disadvantage and you can get the most out of it, you will learn a lot more. Well there's also the disadvantage of stress, frustration and depression, but after a while u can get used to it. I just felt like I wanted to say something to your reply, I really like your videos and even though I don't play some dogfighting games very often I learn a lot from your decision making, plus your vids are quite a good cinematic experience. c:

Perhaps went entering a situation where a lot was going on, or you know is going to, use pause video to explain what you have seen you are reacting to. That way if you start to get busy quickly, you aren't still in the description of observations and decisions prior: Or give you a chance to describe something that is going to happen very fast, and what instinctive decision you had to make, then continue the video. Didn't see so much of a need for that in this video, but that gives you some breathing room, so your mouth and brain aren't having to move 100 mph to be staying with a rapidly unfolding situation, and skipping something you wished you'd mentioned. Just seems there is so much information you want to put out, and need to take a breath, it could make it really unpleasant for you! Just a suggestion, I don't know if the video program your using would enable you to try the technique.

I see you open and close your map without any problem on knowing where you are. How do you do it? I'm spoiled by the WoL server with my plane being on the map, but every time I try Random Expert I always get lost and frustrated due to not being able to know where I am on the map apart from looking for water and matching it on the map.

@windhover2021
@windhover2021 7 лет назад
It helps if you have a plan before you takeoff. Just know where you start and where you are going and you shouldn't have too much trouble. Albeit, the Moscow map is not the easiest to navigate.
@BlackHellHound1
@BlackHellHound1 7 лет назад
It is not as easy as it may appear. I have flown a lot without GPS in this game. Also, as Sheriff's wingman. To keep track of your locations you need to pay a lot of attention to your heading as well as ground features. Especially ground features! Towns, forests, roads, rivers, lakes and airfields are good to keep an eye out for. A good examination of the map before the flight also works miracles. Once you understand these things and know how to use them, you will have to do a lot of practice. After years, I still get lost quite often. (and so does sheriff). To finish it off, it is important to fly to very recognisable points. For instance, If you want to fly to the enemy defences. First, you have to look for 1 or 2 recognisable points that you will fly to in order to get there. Let's say you see an airfield not too far from you that is nicely between you and the objective. Guess the heading you have to fly and then look for a recognisable point on your flight path. A long but narrow town as an example. Now fly towards the airfield and look for the town on the way. Do you see it on your left, then you have to go a little left to keep on track. Ultimately, it is nearly impossible to explain how to navigate. The best way to learn it is to simply do it. It won't take long to get used to the basics. Learning to do this intuitively takes years!

Is ten days of autumn included with the battle of moscow DLC? Also does anyone know of a place that sells all the IL-2 DLC's for cheap or as a bundle or is there an official bundle coming? I really want to buy all the DLC packs for IL-2 but I hate that it costs so much and I wish it was all included for free.
@SheriffsSimShack
@SheriffsSimShack 7 лет назад
no its not free. If u want to save I recommend for the next sale on steam. Yes the costs are relatively high but the quality of content is much higher in comparison to other projects. Especially AAA Projects. The devs earn every cent of those 70 Dollar per Gameversion. If u don't want to purchase them all at once that's of course understandable, you can buy them piece by piece. They are modular.

Okay thanks. I know that battle of moscow is 40% off on their website so I wasn't sure if I should jump on it now. I wasn't sure if ten days of autumn came with BOM. Is it worth getting?

Okay thank you very much. I'm very new to the IL-2 games so I haven't tried MP yet. Heck I've barely used anything besides the BF-109 F-4. Do you guys ever do flights to help people learn how to play? I know thats kind of an odd question but you don't know unless you ask.

It shouldn't be that easy to shoot down a 109 - it takes away from the excitement of the engagement,
@BigRed999
@BigRed999 7 лет назад
Don't I know that (or anyone who flies Luftwaffe...maybe even the Reds too...oh and the game designers, they know....and some old Bolshevik pilot who also knows laughing after he watched the vid, "lol, wish we were that hard to shoot down and them so easy back then ...) The game is skewed but it's the only game in town...that will end soon with DCS.

Your in a Russian plane. According to 1C you should be capable of light speed historically in ww2. Also, no need to check your six Russian planes had shields and photon torpedos
@fuctairlines6322
@fuctairlines6322 7 лет назад
Bs i16 could or would never match a 109 in any aspect. Russian planes are given op fm's because propaganda.......sniper rifle accuracy cannons and better speed/aerodynamic characteristics despite already being obsolete before ww2 started. Cry all u like about this but I refunded this sim the same day I got it. I got 5 hours flight time on bos after 1000's of hours of previous il2 versions flight time. This bos is a joke. Clearly the final nail in a the il2 coffin. I am however following closely ATAGS recent opportunity with cliffs of dover
