I came down with Plantar Fasciitis 20+ years ago, so I REALLY do sympathize with you! I put up with it for nearly a year, until I just couldn't stand it any longer (I didn't know what it was). I finally went to a foot specialist who gave me a shot in my heel - it relieved the pain completely, and immediately, I walked out of his office pain free! It only lasted a couple of weeks, but in that time I found out about Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts (they sell them at Sam's Club here in Texas). After using them for a week or two, the pain went away, and did not return. A few years ago, I forgot to put them into a new pair of shoes, and within a month the pain began to return. I know that what works for me, may not help you, but they are cheap, and they REALLY work for me. Good Luck! I really enjoy your videos! You are a real craftsman!
If I ever move from my house down the road from you…I would buy your place in a heartbeat. Every thing built right and from an engineer/machinist. Absolute attention to detail in everything you do.
Didn't catch what bothers You, "only" feet but that's bad enough. I remember You faced other life limiting trouble earlier. Impressive that You still have very much the same Randy spirit. Your technic for removing the old deck looks great. I've done like that in similar situations. 1983 we cut a summer house into 2 pieces with such a saw after drilling some pilot holes. Then the crane of the timber truck could lift it away, in 2 parts. Shit, You needed to remove all of the deck down to the ground. In Sweden most things are metric but for wood, imperial is very common. 2 inch 6....... Nice work, well done.
Looking good Randy. Well done and nice to see a video out. 1889 that lasted a long time. four hundred buck would buy ten boards and a box of nails here. Lumber is up in the sky here. I have been working hard here. Not much spare time. Look forward to your next one.
That is a beautiful deck you have built, Randy. I don't know what you said or to whom, or why they knocked you in the head to give you that big old knot, but I am glad to see you had it taken care of with no problems. As always, it has been a pleasure enjoying a few minutes of your life that you have shared with us, thanks for the videos.
The deck turned out great Randy and I picked up some tips and tricks! Maybe I missed it, but did you leave a gap between your decking boards? And if so, how much? I need to put the decking boards on the bunkhouse porch. Thanks for the shoutout, it was a lot of fun having you here.
Thank you Jayce for stopping by. I set this deck with no gap, but there are gaps just because using wood. With syn wood decks usually set a gap, usually recmd. by manufacturer. Being in a forest so much fall from the trees the gaps will be filled in less that a year. Pre sealing the wood helps a lot to stop swelling, which many are concerned about. Not here never a problem. Where you are not a problem.
Should have let us know you were not feeling well. I would have been praying for you. I'll start now. Deck looks great. Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Randy, when is the first Boot Scooting Boogie dance? Love to be there,,,that's one awesome deck! Here's an O.I.T. (old indian trick) from Bear. Every night, put a gauze patch with 4-5 drops of raw honey on the scare tissue. In a few months, only you and your bride will know one was there, but your doctor won't ! Sammie in 2005 was bitten with a recluse spider on her leg. We treated with honey, and the flesh was dead dw to her bone. A year later, the scare was only dime size. Best to you and family over the Holidays, from the Jerry Marcy family in TX!
Randy...... alright, alright...... no more complaints about your lump 😂. Glad it was nothing and you're doing well. Plantar is unbelievably debilitating. Keep stretching everyday (for the rest of your life) and it will be completely manageable.
Deck looks fantastic Randy! Glad your head is healing up and I hope you get past the foot problems soon. By the way, have you figured out where you're going to put that power hammer yet? 😉🙃
Nice work as always Randy. Was the incense cedar cut from your property? Is it fragrant when machined? (Old - tropical hardwood - sawmiller here, so curious). Overall, your place looks beautifully maintained and idyllic.
