When you tore and crumpled Sephora's postcard- the most inspirational moment to me in this videos part series. I need to learn to do things like this! Thank you for sharing this video and talking about your journey.
Everything happens for reason, we do things for a reason and you're just trusting your intuition and you blessed so many women at the shelter who I'm sure are truly grateful for the cosmetics and it really will help them with their self confidence and make them feel special and make their day. And give them the confidence to go start a new life a new job I think you buying those things and donating them was just all fulfilling the purpose that you don't even realize. I think you were just following your heart. You have a very receptive heart Full of love and goodness! You are truly blessed and you pour your blessing on others thorough your gifts your videos. You bring awareness you put things in perspective. I am truly grateful to be able to have the privilege to watch your RU-vid videos and your life journey. You're truly inspiring! Thank you!
God bless you for the end of this video. So many of us makeup collectors act selfishly without knowing it, but you uplift people by being unselfish with your things. I'm inspired by you. And you're right, the waste is when we just let it rot, not when we give it away.
I agree with you 100%, you are giving me so much inspiration to stop buying stuff I don't need or will ever use and I need to de-clutter too. Thank you sooo much for this video yes I cringed at the stuff that is being tossed but you know what after that I could sense how better the atmosphere felt like a major detox and good for you for giving it away to women in need.
Thank you!! Haha I hear you, I think our natural nesting instinct tricks us into thinking we need all of this stuff, but really we can be so much happier living less cluttered lives. :)
I was astounded at the makeup you have on hand! I barely have any. But then it hit me, you have only one winter coat and I probably have one for each degree! Time for me to declutter those 50 coats :) Thanks for the inspiration! A few minutes later: I'm realizing it's not just coats. It's books, crafting supplies, fiber tools and equipment, cooking tools and appliances--oh dear! Major work needed on my end! One day at a time :)
I am so impressed with your decluttering. Truly an inspiration. I don't have as much as you do but I have way too much that I don't need or use. Thanks for leading the way.
Oh haha, yeah this is definitely about simplifying life and keeping it that way, we don't want to declutter and then refill the void, that would defeat the purpose. For me, "Less stuff, Less Stress" means freeing oneself from the grip of excessive material possessions. Sometimes owning too much can make a person feel bogged down and even stressed. It stressed me out to the point of feeling absolutely sick and disgusted with myself for being so selfish.
17:13 I remember watching this series years ago, and the line "the wasting of the money already happened" is something that I actively remember every time I purge my stuff. It's one of those things that changes your whole perspective. I love this series so much, and I go back to it every few years, and it's cool to see how much one sentence can change everything.
so true - the money spent is already a sunk cost. i'm trying to find a local women's shelter so i can pass on some of my products too. i'd rather someone enjoy it than have the product collect dust in my home. these videos are so inspiring - thank you for posting them!
I was like this with books. I love books and I just kept buying and buying more and more books just for the sake of buying it, regardless if I would ever read it. I had so much stacked in my bookshelf that the newest ones needed to be placed on the floor because, there wasn't any room for them. I'm in the middle of doing a declutter and putting the books I love on my kindle. I had 60 total. 13 on kindle, 9 that I'm selling and putting on kindle. I have 12 hardcovers that I'm keeping, the rest are being sold.
Honestly I have only really gotten into makeup in the last four months...and I am 46 lol. But I have been concentrating on being a Mom for 22yrs. The makeup I have now is stuff I love and not excessive BUT a lot of it has been YT driven. These videos keep me in check! I admire you for what you have done for the shelters!!! Love you and your videos...thank you!
What I particularly loved was your excitement when you begun putting together present bags for the shelter, there was a definite upturn in your mood and you dug back into the plastic makeup drawers with enthusiasm with the vision of being able to give beautifully presented bags of lovely items to strangers who would receive joy from them. I think that's a generous soul you have. It's a lesson for me, as well, to think of the joy others might receive from the thing that sits not being used in my cupboard. Might make it more easy for me to let go of things to have a vision of others using and loving what is just more stuff for me.
purging a lot of my cosmetics, clothes, shoes, etc makes me stop and reflect on how very lucky I am to have been able to have it and makes me happy to share it with women who have not been so fortunate. We all know how good it feels to get a surprise of something "girly" and it's even better to make that happen for someone who's down on their luck or going thru a tough time. Hopefully your videos are inspiring others to share the joy.
Your take on "wasting money" is right on! I hope many people listened to you and can have the same spirit as we enter into the holiday season. You are a gem Christine.
"Stop, put it down, put down the sparkles. Lol! I have to tell myself that all the time. Sparkles and glitter are hard to resist. Good job. I like your declutter videos. They are so organic and natural.
I think it's so great you're giving so many things to a women's shelter. I'm sure those women will appreciate having products to help them feel special when they are going through a tough time.
Simplifying your life makes it so much easier to have a clear mind! It's amazing how much crap we drag around with us, literally and figuratively. Really inspirational what you're doing!
At the end when you were talking about the real waste, that is so true and when you look at it like that it makes it easier to let things go, the money is already gone but the waste is sitting on counters and taking up space when someone would love to have it to use. I see some awesome cleaning and decluttering in my near future. Thanks for the inspiration.
i just finished all 5 of your Less Stress videos.....all i can say is......WAY TO GO! I'm currently going through every little part of my apartment and reorganizing everything....and yes it feels fabulous. Cheers
You are such an incredible person. I can't imagine how much you're impacting these women and young girls at the shelter. Absolutely inspiring and hopefully people will follow your lead and do the same!
I think it's wonderful that you're doing these videos. We often get so caught up in the life of consumerism and for what reason? You are going to make so many people happy by donating these items to those who really need it, and that's way more important than having a collection. I was out running errands today and because of these vidoes I didn't buy any new makeup or nail items. You're inspiring, thank you!
Yes! The waste is not using it all :) I loooove that you are doing this! I am a firm believer of using what you have and when someone has 40 blushes there is no way they are ever going to use them all. Makeup technically only has a 2-4 year shelf life...depending on brand. Unopened 4... it will get rancid and make you break out.
I'm so happy to see that I'm not the only one that buy things and never use them lol, I also give tons, literally tons of makeup, clothes, shoes, and handbags away at least twice a year. It makes me feel good to be a blessing to someone else and the looks on their faces are priceless!!!! Sowing seeds of kindness never go out of style!!! Kudos!!!
I finally found a women's shelter that will take all of my clothes, shoes, jewelry & cosmetics! I am so happy!!! When I was cleaning out I kept on saying your quote "if i have not used it in the past few months....get rid of it-pass it on". Thank you so much for doing this. I finally got the NEED of giving it to someone who will make use of it : )
its 2020, and im rewatching this.....Christine, you are hands down the best vlogger....thank you for being such an inspiration these past 7 years....and still going!!!...
Love this series!!! It's very inspiring to start going through my own stuff!!! I'm a bit of hoarder too, because I always think "Well, I might need that later!!" And 3 years later, it's still sitting there : / . Great vids!!!!
It was so helpful for me to watch you eliminate things you no longer need, want or use. I have too much stuff (more crafts related) and since moving to a smaller place, I don't have space to keep it all. Thanks for inspiring me to let go of it. Love your channel!!
Hi Christine. I love what you said at the end...that the true waste would be keeping the items and letting them go unused. So glad you are giving them away to people who will be so appreciative of them and make great use out of them. Keep up the great work. : )
Christine, thank you for sharing the process of decluttering your life. I especially like/learn/appreciate when you share your thought process for letting go of things. I had a lightbulb moment when I watched you give away things you still loved, it occurred to me that I thought you only gave away what you no longer needed...crazy I know! But thanks again for sharing your process, I can't wait for your next video and wouldn't mind watching "DeStress/DeClutter #84!!!
I'm watching all your videos as I'm packing and getting ready for my move and I'm holding on to things because I feel like if I give it away I'm wasting money. When I said the wasting of the money already happened u totally changed my thought process. Thanks!
I really like that you are giving your stuff to people who could use it. This saying is so true: 'to the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world.' Giving to the women's shelter you could be that one person. Thanks for sharing.
You are awe inspiring. You go girl! Make them haters feel tiny. That got me teary eyed at the end when you said that about waste and defining what the true tragedy would be. Love you though you are but a stranger and yet feel like I've known you for some time now. ♥
You inspired me to do the same Christine! I just finished putting my not so often used items together and they are going somewhere where they will be needed and appreciated. Thank you so much for making these videos!
The trigger was the realization of my selfishness in collecting such excess... it made me sick... I was so pissed at myself... wasting all that money, having too much stuff and then continuing to buy more. I felt suffocated and weighed down. Also simplifying my skincare inspired me. I quit buying store-bought skincare products, something I thought was impossible for me, proved to be the best decision ever. I loved the new found simplicity. I want it to spread to all parts of my lifestyle.
I am with you girl. It is hard to know where to start, but afterwards, the purge feels good. Sharing when we have so much is a plus. Keep the videos coming. You have such cool ideas for everything.
I see that this is an old vid but still want to say great job I love that you decided to donate things you realized you had over spent on. I see so much makeup hoarding on yt that it is out of hand, maybe even competitive. I started watching vids so that I could learn how to wear modern day makeup after I went natural a few years ago. I also see that it is definitely addictive. I know that those ladies enjoyed the gifts so stay encouraged on your journey.
I know, I'm late, but I love these videos! They really help me overcome my hoarding, I'm binging them while throwing out my stuff, so thank you very much! Also thank you for pointing out the "it's not a waste to give it away"-fact. Your arguments are really solid and true.
My FAVORITE video of this series! What you said at 17:05 really resonated with me! This is the perfect time for me to stumble on to this video set as I'm in the middle of unpacking my life into a new apartment and its the perfect time for me to start my decluttering!
This video is so refreshing in comparison to most of what is on RU-vid! I love your idea of being "rich in other things", besides money. A lot of people in this world (myself included) could take a lesson from you, it's not about what you have, or how much you have, but who you have and how you live! It's easy to get caught up in the 'stuff', but so nice to hear how you are simplifying ...Now I'm ready to go home and minimize my stuff! Thanks for all your great videos :)
I love this video series. I've always been a minimalist and like keeping things very pared down. I remember when makeup videos were about techniques not constant acquisitions! Something that I like to do before I buy something if think about the cost. Not the cost in dollars, because that is abstract. Rather I think about the cost of bringing it into my life and having one more thing that I need to deal with, navigate around, and take care of.
What a nice way to use up your V.S. bags! It is hard to get ride of those, but doing goody bags like that, uses them, and looks like such a treat to receive.
I love the fact that you're doing this little by little, makes me feel like I can actually do this. I can declutter my life too! Thanks for the inspiration (:
You are an inspiration, donating all your excess make-up to women's shelters. Being a beauty junkie myself, I understand how hard it is to give up your shiny baubles...but as a woman who once was in a shelter for domestic violence survivors, that make-up and body lotions, etc. will make many women very happy. :)
I agree with everybody else Christine!! I keep coming back every day hoping you've uploaded the next one. I live in Florida so with the time difference obviously every morning over here, you haven't gotten to it yet but I still look!!
This is so great because everywhere you look on youtube gurus are showing off their enormous collections of products, making people feel like they don't have enough and need to buy more. It''s going to be like an early Christmas for those women you're donating to. I'm glad I subscribed to you.
I am going through this right now as I feel that I have been too blessed to not bless someone else. Plus, there are things that I have that I would like to give more attention to and not go to waste (spoil) before I could use them. This is a GREAT THING that YOU are doing!!!!!!!!!!!
I have loved this series!! I will start watching, and then have to pause it so I can go clean out stuff from my bathroom/office/etc.. Thanks so much for all the inspiration!
Thanks again, appreciate how u are not completely wiping out your collection. These videos have made me realize I need to simplify my life in terms of makeup. Thanks for setting a good example & giving good suggestions :)
You have totally inspired me, I have come on youtube and watched all the beauty guru's and found myself trying to keep up with their hauls, forgetting that they make money on here and also get things for free from companies. Thank you for making these videos I feel like I can finally stop "keeping up with the Jones's" Love your videos and you are great!
You are so right about the waste, that would be a waste of money if you just kept the stuff and never used it. I don't believe that is a waste of money since you are giving it to friends, mom and women who need it and would appreciate it. Can't wait for part 6!! :) Watching this is so therapeutic and I will be doing this this weekend when the kids are at grandmas.
Thank you for your videos. I feel the same way where I find I have so much stuff and feel such a relief to clean it out and give it away to someone who will actually use it.
really enjoying this series, you had soo much stuff. less is definitely more, free yourself! It's great that you remember that you can donate after you've enjoyed something or haven't even touched it! xxx bless you
I think its wonderful that you are sharing with women at shelters. There are so many women who would feel so special with what your are giving away. I Commend you my dear. The good that we do for others always comes back our way. God Bless. :)
I would like to thank you sooooo much for your videos! You have been such an inspiration to me to de-clutter my makeup and nail polish collections. Well, I finally did it this morning and I ended up throwing away 6 eye shadow palettes and 4 blushes along with about 10 bottles of nail polish and now I only have makeup that I use and it fits so nicely in my Caboodle case. My nail polish collection now fits nicely in the bathroom drawer and now it's so much easier to find exactly what I'm looking for!!!
I love all your videos but enjoy most are your day vlogs, those mini getaway video n most of all your decluttering video. Its very inspiring to see someone do something good for herself, her community and her environment. You may not realize this but you just help me go through my personal hard time. Thank you Christine. 3
I am so proud of you. Less is more...More time for what is really important..you. You will have more time for your relationship and for learning more about who you are! You are one smart woman!
Your right Christine most poeple would keep it and let it waste than give to another who would love to have it i think you are a very big hearted person and i always say u get back what u give in life..
These videos are so incredibly inspiring. I just got a small MAC order in today and decided that it's going to be my last makeup order unless 1) I need to repurchase something that I've used up or 2) I find a product that I absolutely HAVE to have or the world will end (and even then it has to be something that is completely different from what I have). I already went through my makeup stash after the first declutter vlog and got rid of a bunch of stuff.
I'm in love with this videos! I'm so glad to see that you're so friendly and donating all of the stuff you don't use! I think I've see the light! This videos are very handy and they are saving me my money! You are right :' Less stuff, Less Stress'. I've found my new favourite quote! I'm so happy that you opened my eyes. Oh and if there are some mistakes in the text...that's because I normal speak another language. But I hope that my message is clearly.
I actually started doing the same thing! Have been thinking about not buying any more stuff for a while now, and your videos just inspire me to start going through my "collection" of make up and just learn to let go...really...let go! Thanks :)
Christine--your words are so true--at the end of your video. It's a waste to keep it if you don't use it--and a blessing to those you give it to, because they do need it! I know that wisdom--but applying it more is what I also need to do. You are a HUGE inspiration, Christine. Really truly. I'm so proud of you I can't stand it, and this philosophy can transcend into other areas of our life too. Those sparkly crystal things though--I'd be digging out of the pile and putting back in my drawers. L
This series is really inspiring. I don't have much make up (one bag) but I have a really bad book habit, and I'm starting to make some progress on that stash! Thanks for sharing what you are doing; your self-discipline is rubbing off on me.
Thank you for these videos! It gave me the kick i needed !! Also you made me realize I don't need everything, less stuff less stress! So thank you so much!
It's so good that you give your extra items to the less fortunate that is really a good thing good for you being less concerned with material things :)
