Keep the bag, you can put all your other miscellaneous items that you're keeping for memory into it, so that it's like a memory capsule, and you can make a policy like you only keep so many memory items as what fits into the bag?

keep the bag! its a nice story to tell your kids, boys or girls, about working hard for something they want and showing how much it means to purchase something on your own.

Keep the bag and save it for your daughter. As a little girl I loved playing with my moms old purses and I know it brought her joy to see me enjoy her old things.

My mom kept a lot of little things like that for me and even if I didn’t want them or never used them it was really cool to see the stuff she had when she was younger, I’d definitely keep it. It’s also a good story!

I love that you didn’t just get rid of everything if you are still actively using candles/room scents. Too many of the „declutter videos“ on RU-vid are so wasteful. I am all for throwing out/ donating things that are no longer working for you, but some people get rid of stuff that they will end up repurchasing! Well done Elle!

Keep the bag!!! There is no harm in keeping sentimental items. Plus, having spent hours and hours of fun and imagination playing dress up in my mom's special pieces, I say keep it for sure! Put it in a box of memories/future dress up. If you were moving to a studio apartment, I'd say store it at Grandma's house (hahaha), but seriously, if you have room for one box of things you don't use daily, keep it! The story alone is a great lesson in teaching children that not everything is given to you just because you want it, and how you must work hard for things you want. KEEP IT!

I love these declutter videos because it makes you look at your buying habits and also give back to the less fortunate. PS you need a bookcase! Every house needs one

I decided when I started my Konmari declutter that I was going to have a memory box for any sentimental items I want to keep. Right now as I’m going through all of my stuff, any time I find sentimental items I set them to the side and at the end I will go through all of them and decide what I want to keep for my box. Right now it’s in a drawer and just containing it all to that space makes me really happy when I look inside. Maybe you could have a memory box for things like that purse and any of the items you and Blair designed that you want to keep, etc.

I would keep the bag! Growing up I played with a little purse that my Mom had when she was young and it was my favourite dress-up accessory. I have it now and I am saving it for if I end up having a kid as it has so many good memories :)

Don’t feel bad about keeping certain things for sentimental reasons. Someday you will probably have grandchildren and it will be amazing for them to look at some of the items that were special to you at different points in your life. Maybe just keep all those items together in a plastic tub or something. I view it like keeping photo albums, it’s fun to look back at old memories. I think you have been doing amazing at decluttering your items! :)

Keep the bag. I am so glad my parents kept certain items such as my American Girl Dolls and other favorite toys & games, or things I saved my own money to buy. I am so happy that I get to pass those things down to my daughter 💜

I use to work at bath and Body Works and with the plug ins once they stop working you can take them to the store and exchange them for news ones. They have a lifetime warranty. Not many people know that. So instead of throwing them away you can just exchange them for new ones.

Keep the bag! It's a reminder of perseverance and hard work. It's a good memory and a good lesson. Sometimes we need the small things in the hard times. It's not hoarding to keep a small amount of things. If you can fit all of your keepsakes in like a hope chest or smaller that's not hoarding.

If looking at the bag brings you so much joy, maybe have it framed and hang it up? Maybe by your closet? I know you could definitely get rid of it and be totally fine, but it is more than a bag at this point. Its that you worked and saved up for it and felt so accomplished.

The cell cases you can hot glue into a shadow box and display it in your office!! It would be so pretty to see on the wall!

keep the bag - it was one of the first things you bought with your own money! if you don't have daughters, Blair or Jellybean might. and besides, if you really feel it's unnecessary later on you can throw it. throwing things that don't spark joy is great and all, but it's also important to recognise that those "spark joy" things change SO much over time. and btw I don't think keeping things for memory purposes is hoarding, I do it too! the only condition I have is I have this cardboard box in my attic and everything has to fit in the box. but I love this series, great work decluttering Elle! you've been motivating me as I've been decluttering too and it feels so refreshing omg I love it!

With the bag, I would personally keep it for old times sake and I’m not a hoarder. But I think there are certain materialistic things that really mean something and are sentimental. You did get rid of a lot and you can always get rid of it at a later date but you can’t get it back if you threw it away !

Also, I can’t wait for all the moving and new house-related videos!! Please show us all the decor process, organization and tours!! So looking forward to seeing all of that!

Keep it. I have a similar situation with something that I bought, and even though I know it will never be in style again (well maybe) and that I can now afford some much better. THe fact that I worked hard to get it and it was one of my first major purchases as a teen..I keep it. Memory purposes and keeps me humble.

I kept a few nonsense things like that for my kids to play with. I didn’t want it, but I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it. So I basically just let my toddlers play and destroy it. It allowed me to feel like it had one last use before I got rid of it.

I’m watching this on a 5s so there are definitely people who still use them!!

Keep the bag, as long as you love it. Give it up when it's guilt instead of joy. I have a couple of my grandmother's purses, which I have filled with memory things of hers...hankie, old perfume bottle, crochet pieces...etc. Use it as a memory item container....if that makes sense. You did great letting go of books!

I’m a total minimalist and purger, but I’ve kept a small pink Coach purse for many years even though I wasn’t using it anymore. Well, now I have three little girls and they LOVE playing dress up with it! I say keep for now and purge when you’re done having babies! ❤️

Bath and Body Works will let you exchange old wallflower plugs for brand new ones! It keeps you from continuing to buy plugs and end up hoarding old ones. I do it all the time! They never seem to last very long.

I think you should keep the bag. You have so many fond memories in that item, and as you have said, it is sometimes worth it to keep sentimental items. As you said, it could be a great play item in the future, and it makes you happy to remember.

I love the book part of your declutter as it was such a walk down memory lane for me to see all the books you recommended in your glitterature like the selection, maze runner and of cause your own beneath the glitter series which I keep mine on my bedside with all my other favourite books and comics. Also for the bag keep it and pass it on to your future daughter/niece etc as they’ll appreciate the bag especially when they know about your story.

I would keep the bag. I always keep things that have a story attached to them. In my house I have one small container that I use as my “memory box” where I keep purely for memories.

Keep the pink bag. It was a huge accomplishment to save that money and buy it yourself. Hang it on a hook inside of your closet or something- it has been with you so long you might regret letting it go. You did so good with letting other things go - let yourself keep something so sentimental.

I think that if there are things that you genuinely love, and they make you smile when you look at them (and you actually make a point of thinking about them and looking at them), it’s totally okay to keep sentimental items. Especially when it comes to things that meant so much to you at some point. Obviously that pink bag brings you a lot of joy, so I don’t see why you can’t keep just because you want to. Not every single little thing had to be in use all the time to be worth keeping, IMO.

If you know you'll never use it, take a picture of it and pass it on to someone else. I'm starting to do the same thing, I'll take pictures of things I want to remember, and I'll even sometimes print out the picture and stick it in my journal and write about why it was important to me.

I always think about keeping things that my future kids would love to find and hear stories about in the future. Keep the bag and anything that brings you joy like that! You'll never regret keeping it (since it will maybe sit in storage for a while) but you may regret giving it away!

Oh no. For future reference, you can exchange the old wall plug ins from BBW!!! you can get another one for equal/lesser value or just pay the difference it’s awesome! I just found out last year. It’s a life changer because I feel like they don’t last too long

You could save certain bags and stuff for your daughter to play dress up with one day (or Blair's kids, etc.). Or you can always take a picture of something that brings back memories but you won't necessarily use ever again. I find when I come across the picture, it brings back the same memory without having to actually keep the item.

I told my fiance you were the one who introduced me to the leaves bath and body works candle years ago and he said he is thankful for you! Lol it's his favorite scent!
