Hi Gabe. Here’s a tip that my help you to avoid throwing away food that’s expired. Buy some stickers like the colored dots that you can get from the office supply or craft store. Get the ones that are red, blue, yellow and green. Put the red stickers on the items that will expire first. That way you consume those items first. Yellow for next, green then use blue for the items with the longest expiration date. Organize all the red stickered items together and the same for the other colors. You will be amaze at how much money you are going to save on your grocery bill. I hope you find this tip helpful. I forgot to add that you can make it a fun activity and include Ceej and Reagan. Kids love stickers. 😁

She doesn't need stickers or a sticker system. She/they just need to do a better job when ordering groceries all the time by doing an inventory on what they have & only ordering what they need. Just because God has blessed us with the resources to buy doesn't mean we shouldn't be good stewards of what he blessed us with! Throwing out 7 bags of groceries is not good stewardship! There are homeless & hungry people that would have appreciated having the money to buy the groceries that were thrown out! Lets think people. I work uptown in the city where I live & I see people at times digging in the trash for food. Perhaps their family needs to do a service project of some sort in their community dealing with such & perhaps it would make them appreciate what they have & not be wasteful! Chad Jr. included. He is not to young to be taught life lessons at his age & learn about giving back!

@@faithleonard1537 I have neighbors that always throw away a lot of food. Stuff that's going to "expire" in 3 days is always thrown in the garbage at their house. Along with leftovers, they cook so much food and don't eat leftovers at all and everything not eaten at dinner goes straight to the garbage including thanksgiving dinner. I once found 2 unopened pies the night of Thanksgiving spilling out of their overflowing garbage cans. I asked why they throw away so much food and I was told because they don't want it. They'll clean out their pantry and have 4 bags of garbage from that alone. They told me, if I really wanted the food that bad then get it out of the garbage before the garbage men pick it up

Now that you've decluttered (good job, btw), go through your pantry and inventory what you have. Get a white board to put on the inside of one of the pantry doors and write down what you need so that you have a record of what you need to replace, etc... Then, look at everything and plan meals for the week or month. For example, you guys have Taco Tuesdays a lot. How many Tuesdays can you cover with what you have? If you don't need to buy anything else for that for a while, then write on your white board "Taco Tuesday - covered" or something like that. The other rule is to forbid the kids from getting into the pantry. When my kids were smaller, I'd make them individual snack bags for the day. I'd hang them on little hooks in the kitchen and tell them they could snack on the fruit bowl that was in a location for all and they could refer to their snack bags. The youngest ones I'd help with their snacks but never were they allowed to go into the pantry or the refrigerator without permission.

@@TheGabeFix You're welcome, Gabe. Folks can be critical of the amount of food that gets wasted but it's not intentional. One of the reasons I keep my kids out of the pantry is that they move and shift things around and then I lose track of what's what and where. They stay out and I find I can manage things beyond just in my head. I"m constantly overwhelmed by chaos. The snack bags work wonders because I can control what they snack on and I don't get interrupted as much by "can I have a snack?" questions. It also gives them some autonomy. Thanks for sharing your family and time with us!

I volunteered at Feeding America pantry and a can good is ok to consume if pass the expiration date AND undented. It can last up to 4 years, if not more. I was surprised but the food is still safe to consume.

I know this is a little late but I have been on a organizing/ decluttering binge. I've been watching lots of vids with organizing tips...... awesome ideas and most go to the dollar tree. The dollar tree has some really nice organizing containers. Check them out.. they are addicting but your closets refrigerator etc look fabulous!

Some times I think the food is close to expiring when we buy it. You have to check the dates on the food items and I don't give expired food to people I just don't.

No judgments, but I did laugh my arse off. lol The only reason my pantry will never look like that is because I'm waaaay to frugal (aka stingy) to accidently buy more than I actually need. This is a first! I have never seen so many negative comments on any of Gabe’s videos😳😒Sheesh!!!! They travel so much, they probably forgot about the food and she had to throw it away. Shit happens! Good things is now once you shop you can just rotate and keep it neat (FIFO). Great job! When I go grocery shopping I normally organize and clean the fridge/cabinets/pantry. Such a long process but worth it 😄.

Judgement free over here!!!!! In the future, don't buy 2 much food to avoid wasting them. Also, have baskets and container. I used white ones and clear ones from dollar tree to help me organize and I check before buying food. I so love this video. Inspiring and helping because I was lacking. Lol

Great job! You can look at the container store for inspiration on baskets and containers to keep everything in. Since your family enjoys cereal, I'd recommend the clear cereal and pasta storage containers. It keeps boxes from getting out of control. If the container store is not having a sale on what you want, you can always look elsewhere. They are my #1 inspiration for organization.
