Watch some of the hoarding shows on youtube and that will also help you to declutter, I have spent the last couple months decluttering, it is overwhelming, but a great feeling... I am still going with my decluttering, around another month... I am a big collector of junk, antiques etc ... my house looked horrible... it was suffocating me mentally and physically... so my tip is if you need inspiration or motivation, watch the hoarding tv shows you can find on youtube,... try and do a little decluttering each day and it will get easier, do not try and do it all at once, then you will fail.
Adventures With Wild Warrior Bill thank you for the comment. I am happy to hear you cleaned so much out! It's a big thing. I know :) I am almost clutter free now. All my mother and my items, combined!, fit in less than 3 m3 storage :) it took some months to reduce her items after I came back from India. She was pretty open minded to me doing the work, it was easy. Since I started myself, I haven't owned more than what fits in 3 m3. I was hoping to give out advice from my and and my mother's journey of emptying my mothers house after my father passed away :) Be gentle and take it slow pretty much. I watched the hoarding shows trying to understand the mechanisms behind these ppl. My father was indeed a hoarder. But we never succeeded to make him understand that things can be thrown out or given away. For these ppl it is really an emotional journey.
