So true on fancy dishes, My elderly Mom has three sets of fancy dishes that have NEVER been used to serve a meal. Her friends keep giving her more sets as they move away because no one under 60 wants them.

My favorite organizing advice is that things which are used most often should be most accessible and conversely things that most accessible should be the ones most frequently used. Most of the time, the example given involves the kitchen. Where to store plates and coffee mugs, etc. But I keep this in mind in all my spaces. There's nothing in my closet except clothes I like, which feel good, fit well, and which I am willing to wear often. (e.g. No scratchy, tight sweaters) This is how I organize my medicine cabinet, my linen closet, under my bathroom sink, my desk, my makeup, and my nightstand. Even my purse is organized based on how often I will need to access the items. And it's not about how easy it is to retrieve the item. It's about how easy it is to put it away. The easier it is to put something away, the more likely that item is to make it back to its home.

Gayle and Ed....thank you for this video and all you have done. I look forward to them every week...guess I'm gonna miss you both next week.:( I have stopped the negative talk to myself awhile back but want you to know I have been going through beloved genealogy papers and think of Gayle saying "thinning the herd" and thats what I am happily doing!

I had an idea for you last night. Ways to repurpose items. For example, last night I was using a really nice face cream on my feet because it irritated my skin on my face. I also refill my hand soap dispenser with shampoo or body wash if I buy one I don't like much. I use boxes to organize drawers, etc.

I use face creams as body creams too :) my skin is so sensitive. Also, liquid soap > foaming soap recipe is 20% soap : 80% water, swish gently until mixed. 🙂

I really Enjoy your video content. I use to randomly listen to you 2 phones ago .. I like the fact that your videos are longer & are an audible format, as i usually listen while doing other tasks (workout, walk, etc) .. My favorite bk 'Atomic Habits' was literally the 'Key' to enable me to implement any self-help or other Great idea into my life Successfully! I like how you give many helpful ways to implement improvements in 'bite-sz' style as well. Thank you 😊

Buy fancy china second hand and use it as daily tableware. ❤️ Eating cereal out of gold leaf salad bowls is so fun.

If anyone still owns silver in silverware & teasets etc --> hold onto them a bit longer as our country continues to go thru transition. Silver will begin to rise, and those items will be worth alot.

Shredding paper - I use the tax papers to line the two bird cages, or just tear them to use in my compost area.

If you want Pinterest, you have to be willing to purge 90% of your belongings. Those minimalist spaces are beautiful BECAUSE they are simple and empty.

Mail (with your name on it) still comes six years after your death.

My parents have been in their house about 20 years. They still occasionally get mail addressed to the last occupant.
