You go!!!! As an advanced practice provider I applaud all the scientific knowledge you have around illness and herbs. This is Masters level information!
The beauty of YT is that you may have posted this last year but I’m finding tremendous value in it today! Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for. God Bless You.
As a nurse with 35 years experience I just am so impressed with your channel. I have always used a whole food approach to nutrition and medicine whenever possible with my own family. Yes God is indeed Good all the time.
Radishes make 100% sense! My grandfather was the Horseradish King (self proclaimed LOL!) No horseradish was ever "hot" enough for him. My mom bought every brand known to man, and he'd always complain. Every once in a while she'd find something "acceptable." After eating it, he'd growl at us kids jokingly and say, "Nothing clears the sinuses out like some good horseradish!" and he'd fake blow his nose, and all the kids would laugh. You said "radishes" and I immediately went back to that "clears the sinuses out." Hmmmm The old Horseradish King might have been onto something.
Did he try wasabi? Real wasabi, japanese green horseradish, is possible to grow in the garden & is one of the most expensive vegetables since it is tricky to grow & transport as fresh. Blessings 🙏🕊️🌟
I made this for my friend who had a bad headcold. I made it for her Wednesdays evening. She took it Wednesday evening, all day Thursday till she had to take a flight across the country on a redeye that evening. She had no problem on her flight and felt so much better when she arrived.
I’m 35 weeks pregnant and have been struggling horribly with sinus infections and an over-production of mucus. I’m headed to the grocery store today to make this!! 🙌🏾✨
I have found my favorite channel, there is nothing about your channel that I don’t enjoy. You’re a great mother with so much girl and your children are so well behaved and willing to do their chores, which is a reflection of their parents. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
Seriously we need more people like you in this world and I hope your daughters continue your legacy as you do your mom and your grandma. My grandmother raised me and I was too young to know that I should write down her recipes or what value they would be to me. You interact so much with your children. I don’t think that’s going to be an issue. Take care and keep doing what you’re doing.
I made this recipe yesterday. I did not have a red onion so used a yellow one in its place. After 24 hours I can already tell a difference! Thank you for sharing this
I am so surprised and happy to hear you speak about histamines in particular, their relationship to mast cells. I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome so I am very familiar with everything you mentioned. Because of the high risk of anaphylaxis, I cannot take anything over the counter as the chemicals in them cause me anaphylactic reactions. Thank you so much for sharing this home remedy. It means so much to me personally to have something completely natural to take during excessive histamine releases. Can't wait to make it and try it!
I want to thank you so so much. For the recipe, this last 2 weeks, my lungs were getting worse. Dr, No thanks I'll pass, Anyways I went yesterday and got the ingredients, and drink a lot , I mean I was eating a whole garlic 🧄 a day and it wasn't working like normal, so thank you so so much. This morning I'm so happy to finally be on the mend.God bless you all. And And don't get runned down during this harvest time.
I watched this over the weekend and today made this as drink for me to slip over the full day. The spice and burn are addictive. I feel so much better. I was slowly recovering but today it feels like your remedy has kicked this cold's butt.
Years ago I used to grow a lot of sprouts. Mostly alfalfa sprouts and bean sprouts. The health food store had radish seeds for Sprouts and I tried them. They tasted just like fresh radishes out of the garden. I think they took maybe three days to grow.
I know you posted a yr ago, but recently found your channel. I don't like garlic or onion, so I really like the idea of dehydrating and putting into capsules, great idea.
I've been really sick with the flu. I saw this video and had everything I needed so decided why not, I'm desperate. The smell is awful so I was a bit worried it wouldn't stay down, but I drank it and it really wasn't bad at all. Five minutes later I felt it start to work. Thank you so much for sharing this. I will be using this for sickness in my family from now on along with my teas.
Oct. 15, 2023. Hi there! Thank you so very much for sharing your recipe for the decongestant. I have in the past used the purple onion and sugar, used for making a cough syrup, which works very well. However, today I was on a hunt for a natural decongestant. Thank you for sharing your recipe and I will get the ingredients and make some this week. Also, love your homesteading videos. I have found each to be clear, educational and informative! Keep up the great work! God bless!
Thank you so much! 💛 My sister said she tried this and she said it worked great for her family when they were sick. My daughter has had this dry cough and we haven’t found anything to give her relief so I can’t wait to try this! BTW-I think the compound in onions you were talking about was Quercetin. (kw-er-se-tin) I didn’t know how to say it at first either.😁
@@Ruthannzimm I made your recipe and it is amazing! I didn’t have time to strain it because I needed something to use immediately before bed so my daughter took it straight from the blender. It helped instantly and she was able to sleep! The next day her cough was 10x better and she continued to take it unstrained every 3 hours and she barely had a cough. Thank you so much! After all the home remedies we tried this is the only thing that worked and her cough had been so bad! I’ll be making this every time we are sick from now on. I’ll be sharing it with everyone too. God bless.❤️
I found this fascinating. I knew only some of the information you shared but didn't know the science behind it. I also didn't know that radish tops steal nutrition from the bulb once harvested. I always remove them before storing them in the fridge if I don't intend on roasting them with the bulb because they get slimy quickly. Love your channel!
Thank you! I am going to refer back to this come the winter months. what a sweet scene at the end with the boys just hanging out on the chair with. all legs hanging over 😊
This is a fantastic video! I usually buy fresh salsa, add fresh crushed garlic to it, add a little cayenne to it, and eat that when I'm sick. The capsaicin is a mild decongestant, you already discussed onions and garlic, tomatoes are high in vitamin c, and you can taste it! 😂
How long will this recipe last if it is kept in a cool dark space? I've made the garlic and honey tincture and keep it in a quart jar in a dark cool closet. I used it when I had shingles on my leg .I took it orally and dabbed it on the areas where the sores were and I promuse you it tastes awful but it worked quickly. As for onions, my grandmother used to when she would get a bad cold , she would cut a very thick white onion and make a sandwich out of it.I asked her once, granny, why are you eating an onion sandwich? Her reply: well baby, I can't smell anything and I don't have any taste in my mouth and this hot onion is going to fix that.
I have only recently found your channel, and greatly appreciate everything i am learning. This especially is something i have been looking for thank you!
I came upon a video of yours a few weeks ago and I'm so grateful! Love your common sense and approach to caring for your family! hink I have watched most all of your videos since and will continue follow you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
This morning I was forced to try it. Great recipe! Last night my nose got plugged, my body started hurting, and I all of a sudden got a head ache. This morning I foraged some wild radish and picked everything else I needed, I was too desperate so I didn't strain it (it tasted fine to me). About 5 minutes after I took it my nose unplugged and I was able to breathe again. Thank you so much for making this video.
Love this and will be adding it to my home remedies notebook. I wonder if it can be made ahead and frozen in cubes and able to store longer. That way if I'm sick as well I won't need to worry about ingredients or actually being able to make it. Thanks so much for the recipe! God Bless!
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I am adding this one to the one we use at our home. I buy the Celestial Lemon Zinger tea that is very good and that is what I give to my grandchildren when they have the head cold and cough. Clears them up quickly. It is also really good with some Wild Turkey Liquori as a hot toddy. For the adults of course. I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much. I love watching your new videos as well as the ones you made before I started following you. I look forward to each one! You are so knowledgeable and explain everything so well. Be blessed.
Quercetin I think is what you were trying to think of! I was just taking a supplement because we all had the dreaded Covid (sadly) for the first time since it came out. I wish I knew how to get this out of our bodies!
I just made this for my constant cough, it not only tastes very good but has suppressed my cough. I cannot belief how quickly and affective this recipe is.
I just found your channel and it is so timely. I am having a bit of congestion because of the seasons changing. I am going to make me some of this! I hate taking otc meds.
I found this fascinating. Thank you. I just found you and have watched a few of your other videos. If you use honey or any other sticky thing. in a measuring jug. Just oil is first, and it will slide out. That way you do not waste any goodness :)
We plant radishes in the fall. Starting about the beginning to middle of August. So we have a crop before the first hard frost. Thank you for the recipe:). My husband found your channel a few week’s ago. Thank you for such wonderful teaching. It’s simple , very informative:). Great job:). We like the old ways:)
@@smas3256Hello, can you explain and tell me more about the radishes tops? How are they good for the organs and diabetes? Do they have a bad flavor, especially if you don't like radishes? Two out of 3 of my children (adult kids) just got diagnosed with Diabetes (the big D word I called it). They both got diagnosed in the first half of the year in 2023. What do you actually do with the tops, we all are new about understanding and learning about the big (D word) Diabetes... Thank you for any input and information about this.🎉 😊😊
Hi Ruth Ann! Thanks for this syrup recipe. I wonder if you could freeze the syrup using those very small ice cube trays? It seems like it would still be effective; that way you could have a nice cold piece of frozen syrup to dissolve in your mouth. It would last longer too. You could make a big batch to see you and your family through the winter. What are your thoughts on this?
I am a retired ICU RN but a very untraditional one. I go to what I can make first and will try that first. Most times it works. I also grow medicinal herbs in my garden. I think there is a reason why I like radish soup!!
I grow radishes in 2 little planters on 1 of my windowsills, all year. Not many. 6 to 7 in each pot. If I harvest 2, I plant 2 more seeds. So, they aren't ready for harvest at the same time. I never thought to add them to my home remedies. I need to get another windowsill planter. Thank you. ❤
Love this! I didn't know about radishes lol. I'd love to hear your story of how you guys came to have your 3 younger boys. I love watching them flourish there on your farm. What a blessing children are.
Haha. I was wondering why you didn’t put ginger. I do this as well, but without the radish. All those ingredients plus ginger boiled into a tea. We are usually treating sore throat when the flu comes around, so ginger really helps with that. I just recently found your channel and love your videos! ❤ More power to you!
T Thank you so much for your recipe. I have been sick and I'm elderly and cannot get better. And can you believe I have all the ingredients so I can make this today.. I love your videos.. you are a. blessing; and I love you Honey.. 💞🙏✝️💞
Used vitamix then sent thru my juicer. I think I could send it all in the juicer and save some cleanup. Hopefully I will be on the mend today. Thank you!
I made this today. AMAZING results in such a short amount of time! I did add the ginger root (and probably used a bit too much onion as I am prone to do). It is surprisingly tasty with just a bit too much oniony flavor - entirely my fault, I've no doubt. Cannot thank you enough for this recipe. I love your instructive videos and the way you interact with your children. I am dehydrating the 'pink stuff' that was left after straining, and will put it in capsules. Great idea that I would not have thought of had you not said something. 🥰 Thank you again, and God bless you and your beautiful family!
Finally made this one! Has a little bite to it but works pretty good. As a person with an immune disorder I can’t tolerate the over the counter red dye cough syrups, I’m allergic to red dyes. This is what is working. Thank you 🙏
I've been enjoying your videos. Thanks for the decongestant recipe. Vitamin C is a great healer you know I'm sure. When I eat an orange I eat some of the peal with the white pith.
My husband and son have been experiencing a bout of allergic reactions. I'm gonna give this a go to see if will be a benefit to them. If so, I will definitely continue to keep it on hand. Thanks for the info!
I have chronic sinusitis and have had dozens of the infections over the years. The doctors I trusted handed out antibiotics like candy to me which resulted in a compromised immune system. I now refuse any antibiotics and do all kinds of natural things to get over it when I do get them. I'm looking forward to trying this!! Thank you for sharing! Do you have any homemade remedies for cough?
I love this I make something similar, but because I have a Vitamix, I don’t juice my lemons anymore them in half I take out the seeds I can see I make sure they’re scrubbed good and clean and I put the whole thing in the blender because there’s a lot of nutrients in the zest and pith And it almost gives it a creamy consistency, so thank you for this I like your recipe
@@vickiefletcher4023 yes the Vitamix just makes it creamy. It will even get a little frothy depending on how many dates you put in and it’s very zingy. I love it.
