Somehow the most perfect thing ever, despite so much of it being completely imperfect. It slows down, speeds up, little glitches, coming in slightly wrong, stuff not quite on the beat. If this was recorded today, with the benefit of ProTools etc, it would be so much more polished and tidy. I love how natural and real it is. The isolation really lets you hear it all. Magical!

Not to mention one of the greatest songs ever!!! The instrumentation is outstanding, and Ringo is not even the drummer on this song, having left the band temporarily over an argument with Sir Paul. The Beatles double LP (more famously, or perhaps infamously, know as The White Album) has some throw away songs, but on the other hand, has some songs that are phenomenal - Dear Prudence, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Blackbird, Julia, Yer Blues, Mother Nature's Son, Sexy Sadie, Revolution No. 1, and Savoy Truffle - awesome songs!!!

Right? It’s sooooo damn good. And it’s unreal to think that he used that technique on 3 tracks for The White Album: Dear Prudence, Happiness is a Warm Gun, and Julia. This is all the evidence you need how underrated a guitarist John Lennon was. You can Google the guitar tab for yourself. It's next level.

Yeah, he's doing a nice conventional, but well executed picking. Personally I'm more impressed with George's lead work.

Listening to these tracks isolated makes me even more certain that the drum overdubs starting at 2:03 panned right, are actually Paul. I never notice before that there are clearly 2 drum overdubs there panned right making it sound like impressive playing. Pehaps this is the reason why people assumed that part was Ringo, even when all the evidence points to it being Paul. When listening to it in isolation with the knowledge there are clearly 2 overdubs being played simultaniously, it sounds very much like Paul's style. The playing in this part is quite similar to Momma MIss America in sections. As others have said, at 2:20 ish when the snare drum sound changes sounds like the tea towel on the snare fell off, which sounds good in the context of the playing. I also always wondered why there was that other short drum part panned left at 2:09, but it sounds to me like a small part of the original drum track which was faded up for a couple of seconds. This seems to match the drums leaking in though other mics at 14:55 ish. It then sounds like the dual drum overdub ends at 2:35, returning to the original drum track panned right again.

I don’t understand this new NEXT LEVEL of informing (the tracks AND the description of exact instruments and ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND VOCALISTS, like whaaaaaa?), but it’s beyond amazing. I really have to say, and I don’t want to say, but what you are providing is *almost* a religious experience for me. The actual BEATLES AND Sir George Martin (for REAL the “fifth Beatle”) piece by piece (not to mention as a producer myself) is just a profound experience for me ….. I don’t know who you are or how you make this possible but sincerely, Thank You. 😑🙏

Some of George’s lines are so psychedelic. Love the stinging tone he manages to get out of his guitar. Nice counterpoint to the dreaminess of the song.

I know this has more than likely been asked, but how are you doing this? After growing up with these songs and listening them for the better part of 40 some-odd years, it is refreshing to really ~hear~ them for the first time. Wow, so many things that I'm hearing for the first time and I thought I knew The White Album. Thank you for opening up a new window in which to view this wonderful album.

John is actually one of my favorite rhythm guitarist. He doesn't get enough credit for it I think. A lot of his guitar playing from 1968 to 1970, from The White Album to his solo album Plastic Ono Band was just Superb!!! Really just shows that at the end of the day, the most important thing about guitar playing is simply what sound you can make come out of it.
