Deconstructing Rhythm Changes 

Do you ever play down in Brownsville Brooklyn. Its rough here but, a lot of great music.

As a sax player, Rhythm changes have been my nemesis, but I'll see thru them better now. Thank you for laying it all out so clearly! (That last bit was the best advice of all: Practice Practice Practice! )

Wow, did you ever just connect some serious dots for me. This is the single most impactful lesson I’ve ever seen. But I got lost when you started talking about all the different substitutions. I would really love to see some more lessons explaining why you can substitute one chord for another just because they have a couple common notes. I just don’t get all of that. I’d really love to see another lesson where you give us a jazz song, that has rhythm changes in it, and then the first time through it we can do your first substitution, the second time through we do your second substitution, and so on. If I could practice that One song that included all of those substitutions then I would learn all of them. I don’t think I can put it together myself so I sure hope you will. What a terrific lesson thank you so much.

Great lesson. Ive seen this idea before (stripped down rhythm changes), but never overlayed with pop songs like this.

Really ties things up and inspires me to produce jam tracks for exploring Swing 42
