That pineapple story was funny. I cannot imagine someone standing there showing off their pineapple.😅I used to have a house full of the older things like you collect. I collected them from garage sales, church sales, wherever I found them. I just loved it. My tastes have changed over the years. My home is mostly french country. With a touch of shabby chic, with some of the pieces like you have that I saved and used for a long time. I still love the style. Your home is lovely. Lovely natural centerpiece. The fruit especially the citrus is so beautiful this time of the year. We still put an orange in foot of our stocking on Christmas Eve. When I was growing up it was always a great to get oranges from California and grapefruit from Texas gifted to us by two Norwegian bachelor Great Uncles. Sometimes in the winter that was only citrus we could get in Northeastern rural Montana. Loved your prep work and wow on that huge glass bowl for prepping double batch of sugared pecans. Could you use same recipe for other nuts like walnuts or almonds? I may try small batch. Enjoy yourself with your family, dear Linda. I am totally on board with you taking care of yourself. I have been caring for lots of people in my life and only recently decided to make caring for myself a priority.🎄💙🎄💜🎄

When my late sister bought her home in Leominster, MA the dinning room and kitchen were wallpapered with Red and Blue Pineapples ... Boy did that say Welcome!!

Very similar history of pineapples here in the UK, including the building of greenhouses to grow pineapples - quite some feat, especially here in 19th C Scotland. Later the trend of exotic plants ie monkey puzzle trees were a popular addition to wealthy houses brought back by early plant collectors. Quite fun spotting them in gardens nowadays - along with pineapples on gate posts! Merry Christmas x

I make the pecans but melt butter on the cookie sheet first and then add the sugared pecans so they are coated...candied pecans❤

Love the juxtaposition of the shiny serving pieces with the natural greens and fruit. Very Williamsburg. I got some sugared and spiced nuts from a friend this year. Definitely would love to start making those a Christmas staple . I would like to make one suggestion..... when you brought out your little step ladder, I noticed you still have the large vinyl brand information on it. You need to remove that ,so the ridged traction on the step is there for your safety. Depending on the shoes you wear, it can be slick and cause a fall.

Such a pleasure to see your lovely traditional New England style decor for Christmas. I love the simple use of fruit to create a centerpiece, and the sugared pecans are a real treat. I've made them with a slightly spicier blend of seasonings and they're always a hit. I have a few small cellophane bags to fill with spiced pecans tied up with a pretty seasonal plaid ribbon. They make a very nice holiday or New Year's gift. Happy holidays to all!

Merry Christmas, Linda. Colonial, kindred spirit, here. Made the Williamsburg Apple Cone last night. I do like your arrangement on a pedestal, too. Very nice. I want to be able to talk with you re health. I spent the lockdown learning about nutrition. Bottom line, our greatest health enemy is sugar. In all forms. Carbs are sugar. Alcohol is sugar. Processed food is sugar. Fructose tells our cells to store fat. Read labels. If it says, high fructose corn syrup, or natural flavors, don’t buy it. Eat high protein, medium vegetable, no sugar. If it does not grow on a tree or bush, or come out of the ground, don’t eat it. Grass fed, organic is best in meat and eggs. Eggs do not raise cholesterol, carbs do. Oils, only avocado, olive oil, coconut oil. The others cause inflammation. Alzheimer’s is diabetes type three. Doctors are not trained in nutrition. They prescribe pills. Before you do meds, study nutrition, especially for women over fifty. You get plenty of sun and fresh air, may need some good vitamins. It is a journey worth taking to learn all about how to feed your body correctly. Class dismissed. 😁
