I forgot how refreshing it was to watch you at work. While fighting to get my life back on track after life knock me out of my game , the only craft I was doing was tags. I mean I literally went crazy making collage tags as if my life depended on it.(lol) And now seeing your journal cards, it reminds me of that as I made quite few with birds and butterflies. These cards are little work of art and I enjoyed watching you make them. Love the idea of making pocket out of them. And while I had to get rid of most my craft supplies I am glad that I hold on to all the scraps and bits and bobs. I am so gonna be making journal cards now...Thanks for the inspiration!

I always love your projects and techniques, and love Arteza products. I see you are using a tearing tool, and thought of my homemade tool. I took the metal tearing strip from a tin foil box and backed it with cardboard. It's one of my favorites, kind of a straight yet textured tear.

Hi joie! for tearing, I sometimes use a hacksaw blade, one can pick up a 2 pack at the hardware store for just a couple of dollars. works for me! Thank you for this video, I am working through a glue book and wondered what I would do with it when finished, if I don't use it for a journal. This is an excellent idea!

I agree! This works like a charm. I “saw” Sue at Art, Craft&Journal using one and borrowed my husband’s blade. If he ever needs it again, he’ll have to go buy a new one because this is a much used tool in my bag of tricks.

I put a good squirt of those metallic paints into a small spray bottle with water and misted my coffee dyed papers with them randomly. It looks really pretty!!

What a great idea using these pages. I love gesso (the painter in me) in every incarnation and so easy to make. Lol metallics are so yummy. I sew paper and fabric and paper is way more fun! I think because I'm not looking for perfection. I made a tearing ruler inspired by Natasha at Treasure books on RU-vid, easy, fun and CHEAP! 😄 oh cute stamps 😍. Lots of inspiration! I so enjoyed this video. Love all your techniques. I am learning all the time. You asked for ideas about tearing so I thought I would share something I learned. If you put your ruler on the small edge you want torn off then tear the biggest part of the paper, it will make it easier to tear especially if you only want a thin piece torn off. I hope you can understand this explanation. Thank you again for all your videos.

I just finished for tags using the ideas from this video. They are on Instagram. I added little charms on each one of mine. I didn't think I'd ever use this page from my collage Blue Book, but I just love them I don't know if you can see all the pretty gold and Mica spray and black Splats and quite splats. Great idea Joie! Love this idea. I've been wondering about the glue books. This is a great idea for them! Thank you for sharing! It looks like your ruler has a tear ruler on it around the other edges. I bought a 3 pack of regular plastic rulers from Dollar tree, went out to my brick steps, whacked it several times along the edge, and then rubbed both sides and that new "tear edge" on the bricks to keep from cutting myself and get all the excess off, and it works just fine! Hugs! 😊💙

Hi Joie: I'm intrigued by the machine stitching on the cards shown in your intro. (which I didn't see on this video). On screen, the thread you used looks quite thick. Is this the case? And if so, do you use a specialist needle - e.g. for leather stitching. How did you get the variation in stitch tension - smooth on 'top', bobbly on the 'underside' ? I guess the answer to this is experimentation with tension! I enjoy watching your tutorials - as others have remarked, clear instructions with explanations for your choices of papers, glue, inks etc. And calm voice too - from God's Own County? best wishes Jacky

Hi there! Truth is I'm bumbling along when it comes to sewing. I think I have been using thread that is too thick. Hence the bobbly underside, which is not intentional....though I do quite like it 🤔🤔 The results that you see are just what happens. I think I just need to swap the thread and it would all normalise. I mix PVA with a craft glue that's actually meant for wood, but there are several glues on Amazon that many Crafters use. I think Tacky Glue is a popular one, I have used it, it's good 👍💜

You can add extra paper or overwrite... I like to do both. 💜

Joie, I’ve just ordered some mica powder! Do you mix with water only in your spray bottle? Or do you mix with something else!

Hi Gwen!! I just mix it with water. I have on rare occasions sprayed it afterwards with a cheap hairspray... but mostly I don't add anything else 👍💜😁

It's an old school book; I sometimes cut up the pages so I only collage on one side!❤️

You always say take a screenshot . I don't know how to do that as I am using my phone.. would appreciate an answer.

The answer depends on your phone...if you Google your phone model and how to take a screenshot it will tell you. Let me know if you need further help, I'll do my best. On some phones if you tap the screen with 3 fingers it does it. 💜

Hi, I'm afraid her shop opening had to be delayed a few days at the last minute....but she is opening soon. Sorry..it happened after I had filmed. I'll share news as it opens..and I have more of that package from Helen's shop to share too. 💜💜

What is a glue book page?

It's a single sheet of paper in some form of text book or exercise book that is filled with paper pieces of any form, adhered as a collage. Some crafters like to use magazine images, I like using scrap paper pieces, old book pages and maybe a few digital images now and again. It's a freeform style of crafting, it's relaxing, easy and fun. Hope this helps!!😁👍💜

I actually rescued an old school notebook that my next door neighbour was throwing out, so a genuine, already filled notebook. Upcycling!! 😁😁👍💜
