As the days keep getting shorter, and the chateau becomes increasingly chaotic, we decided our bedroom should be next on our decorating list. Join us as we transform our sanctuary into a toile de Jouy (or tree de Jouy) wonderland...

"Color has no gender", you are so right, Philip! Since the children moved out of the house, I don't decorate as much anymore. It's too much work to clean up after Christmas by myself. That's why I love it when I see Stephanie and Philip unleash their creative spirit.

Pink as a female gender colour came about in the 1940's. So a very new trend. Red and it's derivatives [pink] was actually associated with males and war, during the 15,17,18 century.

@@sindysimms4001 I still do but not as much and they also have to be easy to put away. For example, instead of a huge Christmas tree, I just use pre-decorated miniature table trees.

@@roseb7525 = Awesome. I think our society puts too much emphasizes on what they deem normal. Pink for Girls, blue for boys. Baah, Humbug I say. Like Philip states colour has no gender. How many men do you know that look stunning in a pink shirt. Look at Stephanie's uncle, he wear loads of fantastic colours. Decor isn't any different. I love colour myself having been a student of fashion ect. I certainly received training in seeing, reading and making colour. I love dying silks, cotton, wools and linens. They are fab fabrics to dye.

I think the main reason we don't have trees inside and lit up year round is that then it wouldn't feel so special.

I put up my pink tree weeks ago, then I put up my Turkey feather antique tree, then my Christmas family tree! All because you two were having fun. For my little bedroom tree I used necklaces and all the odd earrings it looks beautiful and very suitable for the bedroom my husband agrees I normally do a deep pink maroon tree as that is the colours of the room

I have trees all year around, Christmas must have at least four different breeds of trees, ficus for the rest. There are many times during the year a tree is appropriate. We have a vintage silver tinsel tree. We use it in February with red, pink and silver ornaments for St. Valentine's day. In March, it is decorated in green for St. Patrick's day. In July it is covered in Red, white and blue for July 4th. We also have a tall thin tree that is covered in brown, gold and pine cones for fall. Then the Christmas tree goes up.

If there's such a thing as a Romantic Christmas tree, the "Tree de Jouy" is definitely it! Beautiful, I love it... I also have a flocked tree, the type that just keeps giving and giving and giving... snow built up in the hallway, down the stairs into the dinning room... the family room and outside the front and back doors, no amount of "hoovering" worked! With "fresh" snow every day, in 2018 I thought it was a health hazard for my new Cocker pup, so it hasn't been up since... now she would just eat everything she could reach! 😁🦘
