Thanks so much for doing this video truly helps definitely will save for future reference. You are such a fantastic teacher, I’ve watched every video and learned so much about the how to’s of this craft that I have fallen in love with because you so selflessly share your wealth of knowledge with others. Once again thank you
Wow!! This video was so informative! Thank you so much! I've been so aggravated and confused about all of the top coat choices. You have cleared it all up for me. I just love your channel!!!! 😊
Wow this is the video I was looking for!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 🌸 🥰👏. I will definitely keep watching it when finishing my projects.
Fabulous. You just saved me a lot of research. I've been trying to figure out the best solutions for projects for a couple of weeks. You are the best instructor. You must have been a teacher in a former life. Thank you
Thank you so much for clarifying the differences between varnishes. Tremendous help as I decoupage on coasters for hot/cold beverage use. I have always used the Polycrylic as protective finish and your video reinforces that I am doing it correctly. Much appreciate. Thank you!!
@@dina-vp1me 2 or 3 coats of Polycrylic. I use the pray can gives a smooth finish look. wait about 15-20 minutes between each coat. I would use a good face mask, yes, and best to spray outdoors.
Thank you so much for this comprehensive video! I have a couple important projects that need to be done right the first time. You've saved me a lot of time!
Wow! Thank you so much!! As a beginner, you get so much information and end up being so confused 😂😂 This is awesome. So much time will be saved researching. I'm keeping this video handy for sure!
That's great Kelly! I've made all the mistakes for you, LOL/ I learned the hard way in some cases and in others I did all of the homework before hand. I'm so happy to save someone else the time. :) Patti
Thank you for taking the time to teach so many of us. I have a brain injury so am a bit slow but can’t figure out of I should buy the Minwax Spar Urethane that is made with water or made without water. I would really appreciate your help with this! Again, thank you.
yes another page said triple thick is not waterproof. but i did bake the pavers after applying. also u saved me from the poly urethane that goes dark in time. i have the polycrylic so thats what i'll use on stuff that might get ruined. great helpful video Patti :)
Very helpful video, have picture that seemed duller than it was,my son used polyurethane to recoat and now it looks messed up! He used sponge brush instead of bristle type brush!
Great video! Loved the intro. Question: I’ve just prepped a wood table. Top has light coat stain. I’d like to adhere fall leaves and wine labels. What should I use please?
Hi! I just finished my first decoupage on a mailbox. I coated with Gator Hyde by Dixie Belle and was wondering if I should spray the Minwax Helmsman on it too. I’m worried that it’s mostly white and is like to avoid yellowing. Thank you!!
I enjoy your video and the fun you had at the beginning with music and editing. I would like to make my own mailers out of used packing paper. Do you have a sealer that you would recommend? I do not want to use aersols, so I would prefer something I can brush on, such as the water-based polyacrylic sealer you described. This paper came in Amazon boxes (brown) and I also have some that is from a roll of butcher paper. I also do a lot of dye work, and I use this paper from my brother's Amazon purchases to absorb the dye and help flip my work, as I do an intricate dye that involves layering dyes differently on each side. A lot of explanation...These papers are so beautiful that I hang them out to dry when I am done dying and save the tie-dye paper in all sorts of colors. I would like to make my own mailers with these using some sort of sealer, as the post office requires the brown paper to be taped, or have contact paper, or be sealed.
Oh wow, thanks so much. I can't spray, I live in an apt. and neighbors complain of the smell if I use my homemade cardboard box spray booth outside. I end up using my good old Min Wax polycrylic gloss but I get bad paint brush strokes and I'd like more gloss - any suggestions? I need a paint on with a better gloss - anything? Which one would you suggest for heat resistant coasters, maybe the Minwax Helmsman spar urethane varnish paint on?
hi! i am very new with decoupaging. a friend had suggested the liquitex to use for decoupage. i'd like to know if i use it as an adhesive to my mulberry paper & over it to kind of seal it, will i be able to distress my decoupage in case i need to? thank you....
Any chance you have a recommendation of a spray that can waterproof non edible food props. I am wanting to preserve and waterproof a fondant covered dummy/foam. Ideally no sheen and non yellowing. Thanks!
I have put 4 coats of polycrilic on top Of a napkin decoupage onto a dollar tree glass cutting board. Will that make it water proof or At least water resistant? Thank you. I enjoy your videos.
New here to decoupage and I made the mistake and used a clear wax over a decoupaged table. I absolutely love it but realize now that it can easily be damaged. Is there a hard top coat I can use over the waxed top to save this table and make it durable?
I've decoupage a small chalk paint table. Was going to wax the legs, but stuck what would i use to protect the paper decoupage on top.Would modge podge be OK.
I wonder if you could help me with something please? I am putting a napkin on a piece of painted plywood...(only on one corner). How can I 'blend' it so it looks like it's been printed directly onto the plywood? Will the torn edges of the napkin blend better, with the more layers of varnish I put over the top please? x
I am starting to work outside of the box.....have used American Accents to do drawers in the leather look.....but I am redoing my bedroom....I was sidewalk antiquing and found a queen size cannon ball bed frame.....the center of the headboard, I want to give it a leather look.....can I use acrylic paint diluted to give it some color and then do a finish coat
How many coats of the Minwax Helmsman spar urethane did you put on your outdoor map table? I have a flipdown table on my rv that will be outdoors occasionally (it's on the inside of my rear doors) ...also, I'll cook on this table too, eventhough I won't have hot hot stuff directly on it. Also, you said use poly acrylic instead of polyurethane because polyurethane will eventually yellow ...won't the spar urethane yellow too? Thx in advance. - Mike
for the tiles I would use an engine top coat spray since they are designed to handle high heat. Give them about a full week to cure b/f using. You would need to get those in an automotive store. Sink back slashes just need to be waterproof so as long as you add enough coats (apron 4 or more if you would like) you should be ok with a polycrylic but I personally love resin, nothing else looks like resin except for glass.
