@@onlythingsfobsrunisthekfcl4199 well you just have to go to the islands. Kids there swim everyday and young men go fishing or to the bush. It’s only the ones who live over seas who cant lift a finger and do things out doors. Like one of my cousin who has lived in America all his life. Came for a holiday in Tonga and boy did we have fun scaring the crap out of him. He’d scream all the time when we’d kill a pig for a feast or the time when he tacked along with us to go hunting at night in the bush at ‘Eua island for wild boars. He pissed in his pants we told him not to come but he kept insisting. Poor guy but it was fun to have him around after all I’m a girl and I can stomach doing all of these stuff but he can’t. He was a big fella all muscle’s and all that. But can’t do things like fishing nor a hard day labour. Even my 10 year old brother could do all these things cause that’s just how we were raised. Gotta have my cousin back for a visit again it’s boring here yah know🤣🤣🤣
When his daughter walks out in front of everyone and yells her part of the Haka, it gives me chills every time. Everyone deserves a dad like him. not only is love for culture and family strong. He was raised by strong women and truly believes in empowering women as well. He's incredible.
He was raised in the middle of Iowa by strong women who never tried to stifle his heritage. He's an amazing combination of ancestry! He's strong in so many ways, yet gentle when he visits his grandmother in Iowa. He's proud of his heritage-as he should be. I am in awe of him.
@Nicholas Major Stating that he was raised by strong women is "feminist bullshit?" What the actual fuck are you on about. Get over yourself and chill out.
Its beautiful to see more and more representation of different indigenous people. Different kinds of people have been recognized for their own movement in media but people indigenous or native to Polynesia among others are rising to the public eye when for centuries everyone wanted to hide them away and slaughter their tradition.
I cry every time I see people performing the/a haka. I don't have a clue what's going on because I'm just a bumpkin from East Texas, but it is absolutely stunning to see. It's moving and beautiful and emotional.... We don't do that in Texas....we have banjos. We drink and play banjos.
We haka for many reasons. Mainly to intimidate our enemies going in to battle.... also to bring attention to issues that bother is ( high suicide rates etc). Haka is done by men... women do something similar.... It's not called haka though.
We got Black Panther and Aquaman in the same year. So glad to see POC finally getting to be hero’s which show case positive aspects of their cultures. I hope we get to see more in the future. Clearly ticket sales speak to a real hunger for such films.
AMEN BRO. I cannot tell you how much I would love to see more movies celebrating different cultures. Like I would love to see movies about Native American and Aztec mythology!
kenzo 85 haha they both needed to draw off the history of the peoples in said movies so it wouldn’t be too hard if literally you have a whole culture or multiple to draw from
I've been wondering how they like learning it. His son seems so into it, and his daughter still seems a little shy. I wonder if she's watching her dad and thinking about the onlookers a lot, or if that's a female role in the haka (to be a little quieter and more gentle). I love that they're learning it and sharing it with the world. It's amazing to see!
As a Maori from New Zealand we have every Polynesian race there is, Maori, Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Tokelaun, Cook Islanders, Rarotongans, Nuiens and all the rest of them. But I never saw us as one. I always though we were all different, which we are through our different cultures and traditions. But I never once stop to think that we were all one as Polynesians. And yet here they all are
Rotumans of Fiji are Polynesians just like Rennellese & Bellonese, Sikaianans, Tikopians and Ontong Javans of Solomon Islands. They lived in a Melanesian country but their ethnicity is Polynesia.
Fijians ain't classed as Polynesian. They are Melanesian because of the blackness of their skin... People from the Solomon Island's, Papua New Guinea, Bougainville, New Britain and New Caledonia etc all fall into the Melanesian category... As for us Polynesians well we're just nextdoor!!!... Mauri Ora...
This is a beautiful tribal celebration to remove any negative spirits from the movie's premier. It's nice to see Momoa with his people and tribe. I hope his career soars due to his great works in Aquaman.
I wanna see JASON MOMOA (KANAKA MAOLI) THE ROCK (SAMOAN) TUKI BRANDO (TAHITIAN) ULI LATUKEFU (TONGAN) MANU BENNETT (MAORI) in a Polynesian Fantasy Scfy Action film Directed by TAIKA WAITITI............
This man does everything from the heart - wise and humble and genuine which are sadly rare qualities these days. It's so refreshing to see those decent and true qualities getting so much media attention rather than the usual vacuous, shallow, wealth driven messages that our children and young people are flooded with by other celeb's currently. Fabulous example of how humanity should be, good for you Mr Momoa
To be honest my husband shares a lot of the same values as Mr. Mamoa, my husband's people are Native American. He is a traditional man. And the values of being a protector and a provider for his family and his people as well, and keeping the culture alive runs deep in him. He like Mr Mamoa are men, real men. There are a dying breed unfortunately.
Uchiha Hikaku The new revamp version is practically a Polynesian version. Respect to the OG writers of the first Aquaman because without them AQMAN wouldn't exists!
This is amazing and so cool Jason’s son and daughter were apart of it. They will respect and remember this time forever. Awesome dad and a proper gentleman
I agree, the "hero" is not on the movie screen, but in the Father and Husband who shows his children that you can be a "man's man" and have a heart, and soul.
ikd maybe they've never seen the haka before and don't know who Momoa is. Haha actually could you imagine some 80 yr old grandma somehow ending up here while trying to get to her email or something and just being so confused
The dumb asses who edit videos of Jason doing the Haka with his kids to make it look like something else are probably the haters. I hate those dumb asses they show up on social media with a crappy edited video and try and spread shit about Jason.
As an Aboriginals first Nation person 🖤💛❤️ here in Australia we will never forget our Mother Land nor Ancestors that watches over us. "POWER " ✊🏾 to all First Nation People from across the waters and faraway. Thank you for sharing Jason Momoa .
How can there be people who do not like this guy?!?! to find unfriendly?!? excellent person, big heart! May God always bless you! I never tire of seeing this performance. 😍😊
I'm a Polynesian ancestry from Fiji (I'm Rotuman native by the way) and seeing Jason performing haka with the rest of the guys make me proud of where I come from, my identity, my race, and my culture. I'll say that I am proud to be Polynesian. Faiak'sia (thank you) and lots of love from Fiji. ❤️❤️❤️🇫🇯
Its beautiful to see more and more representation of different indigenous people. I love the men & women of Polynesia!! I lived in Honolulu for 7 years with Northwest Airlines & all the people made me feel like family. Respect for nature, a love of the sea & islands, & good food were the basis for sharing. I'm glad the traditions & dances were preserved for each of the 7 groups (Hawaiians, Maori, Tongans, Fijians, Tahitians, Samoans & Niueans as well as Micronesian people). The Oceans make up 3/4 of our planet -- all of us have much to learn from our Island cousins about respecting each other & caring for our environment. Jason Momoa, Dwayne "Rock"Johnson, President Obama & others are trying to teach & warn us of our responsibilities to the animals and Earth. I pray in this new year of 2019 that we listen!!
@Notre Aira dude if u want to then go make it happen im asian and i wanted to live in hawaii my whole life im choosing my careers with that being the end goal try ur best and do sth about it maybe u can move there too!!
That was beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes and chills....to be able to pass that down to the younger generation is so good. It's amazing to see and hear a culture speak through motion and language like theirs.
Hakas get me everytime. You can feel their love and pride and passion just watching it on your phone. It's absolutely breath taking and beautiful to watch
There isnt 1 single insincere thing about this man that is what makes him so beloved and so full of joy and integrity at such a young age. It's like hes seeing everyone and everything for the first time, and like he's seeing everyone completely equally...no color barriers, no sociofinancial differences, just people, and he treats everyone with such pure kindness and respect. It's such a rarity anymore to see or meet anyone with this truly beautiful a soul.
It's because he's from Hawaii and Hawaiian. It's the way of the land there. Unlike everywhere else where people backstab each other and take advantage. Hawaii is a place where you are taught to treat people how you want to be treated.
Seeing your kids haka with you is so incredibly POWERFUL! Thank you for being such a strong influence for our culture and the family that we all are. Aloha bruddah from Oregon!
Fa'afetai💕 Thank you for representing the Polynesian culture and making us all feel important. It’s an honor having you show the world what we are about.
This is CULTURE at its FINEST! We went to see AQUAMAN and we ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I have always been a fan of Lisa Bonet and now I'm a fan of Jason. He was so DOPE as AQUAMAN! 💚💛
Every time I see the haka... I cry. The unity, the energy, the pride in tradition- moves me. Absolutely beautiful. Congratulation on a great movie Jason.
SteadyNUnremitting As a South African we adopt our father's cultures. I am father is Xhosa and my mother is Tswana. I identify as Xhosa because of him. So it might be the same with the Polynesian culture too.
Keone Jones That is why I said MIGHT, anyway Lola and Wolf are a quarter African American. Lisa doesn't seem to have a problem with the Polynesian culture taking precedence in her household.
Your amazing. I love how you portray yourself and that you don’t let fame ruin you. You are always yourself and not a facade that Hollywood calls people to use. Thank you for being yourself. You are such an inspiration to me.
Love the mix of Hawaiian chanting ? Then into a haka ...the first part had beautiful wording like (my translation🤣)...”my power comes from ...my ancestors ....my mind..my body..my spirit ...its the light within me “ fuuuuuu powerful lol ....the second part I recognized comes from a well known nz haka ! Well done family representing us all on the big stage ! From a Maori of nz ! Chur...tuturu whaka maua kia Tina!
aaah thank you for the translation!! This whole video (I mean most of his videos) I was wishing I could speak Hawaiian so I could understand what they were saying. The culture seems so beautiful, and if every Hawaiian is as loving and caring as Jason is, then I'm definetely learning it so I can move there!! :)
Jason you are like Man of the Year for me, spreading good vibes and happiness at a time when that is especially needed and important! Long may the Momoa-Mobile roll! Happy Holidays to you and yours! Peace!
What a truly, truly outstanding way to bring the spiritual essence of “group flow” to the whole of our world! THANK YOU POLYNESIA for sharing this inspirational, and intensely uplifting Haka to the whole of humanity at a time when pulling together as ONE is so very needed! Is it right to say “hoʻokahi mau kanaka”? Thank you !!!
The fact that people not of polynesian decent can feel and understand and respect what is happening without having any idea what is being chanted is a testament to the amount of power and energy exuded by the haka. It is one of the most beautiful celebrations in the whole world.
I remember our teacher showed this in class, everyone was either questioning it or in awe but theres me in the back tearing up (only Poly in class). I cant even explain why, pride, love, culture, strength, etc... haka sums it all up.
If you think you experienced cultures from watching both of those Hollywood productions, you don't know anything. You likely think mall food courts give you a dose of multi-ethnic cultures.
I remember watching this in my class All my friends were either in aww or confused. (I’m the only Polynesian) My Polynesian ass was sniffing and holding back my tears in the back of the room, leaning back in my chair like I was unaffected but we all knew. They might never know the pride and love we have for fellow Polynesian people. We fight hard and we love even harder. That’s just the Polynesian Way
The vibrations are jumping off this video. This is Ancestral spirit live and direct. Our Ancestors deserve this honour. Words are not enuff right now. The power of Culture and Heritage. These vibrations are light energy.... #ontheroam #maoripower #livingheritage #culturaldignity #honoringtheancestors #jasonmomoa - I am Ghanaian-Jamaican by heritage but it is an absolute honour to witness this Jason - the Ancestors chose well. #polynesianvibes
I may not be Polynesian by birth, but since I was a child, I've always been close to my islander brothers and sisters. Be it Chamorro, Tahitian, Pinoy to the mighty and proud Kānaka maoli, Hawaiʻi maoli and Samoans and Māori and more. And as ohana we are all one tribe under the sun. I was honored when a lone Māori, preformed his solo Haka as protest to the Dakota pipeline for Standing Rock (which hit home because I am a proud decent of both the mighty tribes of Navajo and Sioux) And to watch him do that, helped me truly understand just how connected we are as a people. Kaikun need, not only are you my spirit animal/guide but like all whom have known struggle, you stand firm in what you believe in. In your teachings and life lessons and I thank you for all that you do. Mahalo with all my heart and soul. Polynesians, Native and adopted will stand by your side and face any and all storms with you.
Ummm Dwayne Johnson and Jason doing the Hakka dance together with the tribe shit that would be the ultimate sight to see. But Jason bro this was powerful.
Im South African and our history with our Polynesian brothers and sisters go deep..with sport..and with culture and with life.. it's great to watch people go abroad make an success of themselves and still stay true to who they are and pay homage to their Homeland and culture. Blessings, love and respect from RSA.
My people, Micronesians, although not as popular as Polynesians, also come from a seafaring culture. FSM preamble: "To make one nation of many islands, we respect the diversity of our cultures. Our differences enrich us. The seas bring us together, they do not separate us. Our islands sustain us, our island nation enlarges us and makes us stronger." And on a separate note, who are these 406 people that disliked this video?
Pacific Island people. I think the Samoans are most prominent. We carry against all cultures, even amongst the South Pacific ones. Family amongst all, but fiercely fa'asamoa.
This was so powerful, it made me get up and train harder than I have done in a long time. Thank you Jason and the Polynesian tribe, much love and respect
What a great example you are to young children Jason, or should I say, "Aquaman!"... This is exactly what it means to truly embrace your culture, have true knowledge of exactly who you are and to be so very proud of who you are... I wish everyone would feel this way about themselves (proud and love thyself) and would be a decent example to their own children, but first showing and learning to respect yourself and other people is the most important first step - constant kindness. You are all of this and just such a humble, extremely passionate and incredible man. If you always remain with goodness, who you are... humble, respectful, gracious and grateful and don't let fame ever make your head become too big😀... you will continue to always be blessed and fans will continue to love and support you☺! Jason..., your mother, as a single parent, did an EXCELLENT job raising you! You may not realize how much you are displaying to the world how she raised you, but you are! So I'm very proud of her! And YES! You are definitely one of a kind in Hollywood, because no other actor has ever been so humble, playful, bashful(which is so darn cute😆) and extremely respectful, gracious and kind to everyone, especially to their fans☺. Such a tough business... because fans can make you for years or break you if you are an actor, and sadly most actors head became too big, they no longer show their kindness, their great smile, appreciation and must have forgotten this about Fans! ☺💕 Blessings to you and your family!
Did anyone else get chills......ending my 2018 watching this magnificent powerful video of family, friends and strangers coming together, and beginning my 2019 with a warrior Goddess spirit instilled within me💪🏾👑🌍⭐️🌖🌊
Jason,I love aquaman so much. Thank you for being apart of that movie. This is a wish being fulfilled that Hollywood notice you because you're one talented guy.
As a Black American with Tahitian and Tongan blood it’s so nice to just see cultures all over celebrate each other. We as humans all have core similarities in our cultures and what Momoa said can be applied across all stretches of land... water connects us in both good and bad ways historically but at the end of the day the blood that courses through our veins is just as purposeful and yet free flowing as the oceans themselves
I adore Polynesian culture and their ancient wisdom, they are the ones who understood long time ago that only in balance of feminine and masculine there can be peace on earth. Mahalo!!!
