I personally think sexy red is an industry plant whose sole purpose is to help in her small way to negatively impact the personal morals of young black women, I’d include sukiyana also, they know the damage they are doing but they’ve excepted whatever money they’re getting to go overboard with the ratchetness
How frustrating is it when you’re right, you know you’re right, but people don’t care or think you crazy and want to blow you off while you try to wake them up. It’s exhausting
An "industry plant" is a term used in the music industry to refer to an artist who, despite appearing to have risen to fame organically, is actually backed by a record label or other music industry entities from the early stages of their career. The term implies that the artist's success is not entirely grassroots or independent but, rather, strategically engineered by industry professionals.
In other words it ued to be called artist development. Its the labels JOB to advocate for the artist: finding the right songs, media training, cross promotion in print, internet and TV, etc. This idea of grassroots and organic growth is from the early 2000s era of indie labels nd the artist takign things into their own hads becasue of. the internet leveling the playing field of opportunity. What you described is what the labels USED to do in the first place. Otherwise whats the point?
Notice he doesn't just come to talk or criticize, he comes with a solution and a plan. Great piece. Guest is really well spoken and he makes a great point about the industry preferring to glorify superficial and consumerist artists/music so they don't have a generation of people who are more interested in ideas and personal growth than in just chasing status and buying what the shops are selling. Dark times in America but more of this sunlight can help brighten things up.
Amen if we had more of these type of people we would have more Tupac , Kendrick, J. Cole, Lupe Fiasco, Immortal Technique, Nas, and a lot of other people instead of what we see today.
@@bigq2696alot of "what we see today" you havent scratched the surface w which is why people like you name generic ass 2pac & biggie. stop trynna seem cool
🙏🏽 it really feels like we have a ragtag team of avengers forming. If they really onto humanity and show support for workers, we might actually have a shot of shutting down the system and moving in a new direction. Praying for all the truth tellers and those watching their brothers and sisters be manipulated without being able to do anything about it.
He just described rap in the late 80's and early 90's. Before she became a gangsta and started rollin' with gangsta bitches. Conscious rappers were going platinum. They're not wanting kids walking around with African medallions and X hats.
My jaw dropped when i learned that gangsta rap was driven by white music executives and marketed toward white suburban kid who felt cool listening to "dangerous" music.
The problem isn’t the gatekeepers, the problem is “the gatekeeper”. Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
It is no accident that the most popular Black music strayed away from being about love and social consciousness and toward self-aggrandizing, hedonism and divisiveness. People were behaving too cohesively, the movement was too fast (years between 1965-1975 or so) and would have too powerfully shifted the narrative from the negative image of BF that is so necessary to keep folks divided and distracted. Music is a powerful force and what you listen to often reflects in your mindset, behavior and personal choices.
No one said rap is the enemy. There was plenty of socially conscious rap. In fact, that was the norm when it first appeared on the scene.@@janadrianbettard8822
He aint lying about the OGs not playing their role. Snoop is 52 and still reppin ganglife. Most of the older rappers want to stay relevant in the music industry so they never tell the truth about anything because they don't want to offend the young rappers who might throw a job or a feature their way.
Snoop not repping gang life. He legit comes from a Crip neighborhood so it's not like he just put on a blue flag for entertain but he hasn't rapped about gang violence in like 20 plus years.
@@everybodywannabelikemike_ Of course he still claims Crip like what are you talking about? If Snoop came out and said he's not a Crip people would say he lying. Not everybody in a gang is a criminal thats what you people don't understand. You have people that grew out of street life but when they decided to join a gang as a youth they stood on their word so they not gonna deny affiliation just to satisfy the nerds smh.
@@nakitapalmer656 When your from a gang not everybody actively engages in crime for their whole life. That should be obvious. Snoop will obviously tell you he's a rapper but him being Crip is an historical fact and he knows you know that.
Sounds like Dee knows what he's talking about! Hip-hop would be life-changing if more people like Kendrick & Cole were embraced. That Whole Foods analogy was perfect! We need more than fast money and fast living. We need wisdom, wellness, and a holistic outlook on life.
“Conscious rap” isn’t new… the difference is that back in the day around the 80s they didn’t look at it as a threat. Remember hip-hop was thought to be a fad and no real money behind it means that it wasn’t a threat to the machine. Once things changed in the late 80s/early 90s they quickly took control of the narrative and changed the culture away from what the roots that the pioneers setup. Real hip hop heads never die, we multiply 💯 know your roots and who you’re rooting for word to Soul 🗣️
The difference is back in da day their lyrics weren’t controlled….. Kendrick and Cole is cool n all but, they can’t say anything they want….. like I can lbvs
@@nitevibe9886 PE were outliers since they broke racial barriers. You had White metalheads attending their shows and Black conscience folks as well. When you bring folks together like that, it's a problem for the powers that be. Look no further than what happened to Malcolm X after he united all shades with religion
THE INDUSTRY IS WICKED, SICK, SAD, FILTHY, DELUSIONAL AND IT WILL COME TO A END!! BLESSINGS TO ALL THE BROTHERS & SISTERS WHO ARE RIGHTEOUS & CLEAN!! HUMBLE THEE SELF 🖤💯!!! TELL THAT TRUTH, PLEASE & THANK YOU 🖤BRAVO💯
I don’t just blame the industry, I blame black people who keep falling into the “trap”. We can only be victims now, nobody taking action. Respect my brotha
That last part @08:27 was the most poignant and honestly its so simple yet so foreign to the culture, we praise death, thugs and gangsterism, that what he said at the very end is almost a revolutionary idea and thought, salute for this AOD
The world needs to hear everything that this amazingly intelligent man has to say. This man is literally speaking everything that I have to say about the industry. I’m honestly refreshed to hear this young man speak. Huge amount of respect to dude 💯🔥💎
This is the realest and most courageous Man I’ve ever seen in the industry in my life. This young man is what we need as our leaders. Not drug addict lil Wayne or cult leaders like JZ. This man stands with the most high. Salute god ✊🏽
I remember when he came to my city in a school sanctioned event and he was spitting some these facts. Most of the girls were infatuated with his accent and I was one of the few that really heard him. That was 8 years ago and it’s nice to see he’s still doing what needs to be said and done
Valid points but we can’t just blame the “industry”. The industry just lets the market speak & exploits it. If the market made conscious music highly in demand, labels would follow suit. Controversy, sex, drama, etc… sells. If people stopped consuming it, it wouldn’t be promoted so heavily. The power is really with the people. (Same with politics & all other forms of media)
I agree it’s really the people that demand a lot of that music from the market as far as mainstream. There is a market for Conscious music just there’s a market for Gospel. The thing it black folks can’t keep complaining & expecting aglo’s to want to help push a positive message to us when they’re profiting greatly from it. It’s in our own interest to build our own labels & distributions networks to compete against the major labels. & No it won’t be easy at all.
Nah. This was consciously orchestrated. What sells is what you promote, and they want to sell negativity and death so they make sure that's what's on the agenda. that's how it works.
@@AwnPoynt #peace Yea they made a deal with him that if he made what we kno him for, they would allow him to have 1 more in tune with trax like: "so you wanna be a gangsta," "the ghetto," "life is," "gettin' it" etc. He agreed, but when it was time to put the machine behind him; they made it difficult for him. Itz a vid on here where he explain.

6:57 On that note right there. It's over a thousand of rappers. I'm from Chicago where it is too many restaurant's all over the entire Cook County. Especially MCDONALD'S. Me personally I'll choose grocery store over any restaurant's. The point is we don't need no more rappers that glorified penitentiary chances with negative energy that's destroying the youth of any culture same as we don't need no more restaurants next to the one who been in business forever.
My Glorious God! This is the first time I have ever heard of this young man. What an educated man. I am drawn to his character. Oh best believe I will research Dee-1. He is a true blessing to us all. A TRUE SOLDIER FOR CHRIST JESUS!!
It’s very simple. Lucifer was the angel over the praise and worship in Heaven. When he disobeyed God and was kicked out, he controls secular music in the earthly realm. That demonic spirit is what drives such an evil industry.
