Stop defending Dre, He was wrong to beat Her period! He doesn't get a free pass just because He is talented or famous. Right it right and wrong is wrong, and it's disgusting to defend abuse in the first place. Society is just pathetic these days!

You living under a rock? This is the past we're talking about, Dr Dre has changed since then about 20 or so years later. Sure Dr Dre did some bad things but deep down he regrets the bad choices he made while being famous. Plus, this is on the "Terrible Shit we forgot celebrities did" list. Not many people except those who know Dr Dre or something like that remember. Dre's trying to redeem himself, give him credit!

Baron Aaron777 So if I went on a murder spree *but* "Deep down I regretted it" It would be all okay? *it was all in past so its okay cause Im tryin to change* It dont matter how he feels now or if hes trying to "change". What he did was still wrong. And it should still be known as bitchmade and wrong.

Damn it looks like the majority of the comments I'm reading are from abusers themselves. I even see women sticking up for Dre. Y'all must like abuse or get easily persuaded by the money and fame. There is absolutely no excuse for what Dre did to Dee. This was because of an Ice Cube interview? yet he didn't lay a hand on Cube, but chose a woman instead? I don't see why y'all can not have a shred of sympathy for this woman? She wasn't doing nothing but her job to make a living, and he comes in like she killed his momma or brother (he died) and brutally beats her. You love his music and headphones that much huh? It goes to show how evil society really is. If that happened to your mother, sister, aunt etc, I wonder how you would feel then? Of course in S.O.C, Dre would portray his self as an perfect angel. The rest of them weren't shit for having that attitude sticking for him either.

Tbh It Was Wrong What He Did But Its Not Like This Was New... This Was Public Knowledge For Years I Remember A Lot Of People Talking About It/ Idk Why It Would Be Reintroduced Now Because Of The Straight Out Of Compton Movie ? It Holds No Value Towards The Story-line... But I Do Feel Like Dr. Dre Needs To Address The Situation..

Its a Pity and a Shame these women making excuse for this Punk Ass woman beater....He didnt go at Ice Cube who he was really pissed at(No Vaseline etc...) b/c Ice Cube would of fought his ass back and probably won.. This is one woman thats not defending his bitch ass woman beating. I'll close with this Karma is a BITCH!!!!!! WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND....YOU CAN BELIEVE THAT.. LifeIsNotorious Dre was on probation for assaulting a man also. I don't think you get it. By you saying it was 25 years ago and still holding on to resentment for someone you don't even know is the real problem. Sorry that you must have gotten your ass beat but Dre and his wife have both said he never touched her to this day and he's gone through counseling and most importantly cut back on the heavy drinking which we all know was the cause of all his altercations. Remove the alcohol and you have what we have today "The greatest producer in hip hop and most other genres ever" He's winning so leave him alone.

I hate it when people tell someone that’s been through trauma to “move on” or “get over it.” As if the person that’s going through it chooses to have flashbacks and chooses to have pain. If they could just simply ‘shut it off’ so they don’t have to feel the pain anymore I’m pretty sure they would.

Im 39 and the only thing I remember about my childhood is watching my father putting his hands on my mother. I remember one morning when they were fighting and she smacked his ass with a frying pan. Mind you my mother is maybe 5'3" and my father is 6'6" and was 250 lbs solid at the time. I didnt feel sorry for him. If I was old enough and big enough I would've helped her whip his ass too. I say all that to say people can change if they REALLY have a desire to but NEVER forget what happened to you and NEVER allow anyone to treat you in a way you dont deserve to be treated. Know yourself. Love yourself.

The migraine headaches Dee Barnes is still experiencing could possibly be from the emotional pain from the trauma she endured by Dr. Dre's beating and by the pain and shame of the mockery of it all put into words in music as a constant reminder of the trauma to be heard forever. (Notice how her migraine intensified as she recalled the incident). They said this poor woman deserved her beating and glorified Dr. Dre's horrific actions! That must be an unbelievably tough pill for anyone to swallow and my heart goes out to her. Physical abuse is horrible and in time the physical wounds heal, but Psychological trauma wounds can manifest in the subconcious mind and stay trapped in your body unless you emotionally heal from the experience. She will carry this pain with her for the rest of her life until she is able to learn how to truly let go of the trauma bond of the incident which is better said than done. I hope she can find a way to find peace and closure someday with the matter in therapy. It will be difficult, but possible if she does the work needed to do so.

Betty Polite It's because some black women's self esteem is so shot low that it's pitiful. They actually thought that he treated Nicole like a queen because she's "white". Ummm that's one of the main reasons why some black men get with white women anyway because they'll take more shut than black women. However she's biracial and yes he's beat her too. Bruce his former friend and assistant has said that. He also gave Tiarrie B whose a white woman two black eyes for making a song dissing NWA. She didn't like the way they rapped about women. She's now into punk rock.
@LifeIsNotorious

Afros & Cosmos It goes to show that black peoples self-esteem is so low. An abuser is an abuser. OJ was known for beating his ex-white wife, and no one cared until he allegedly killed her. The fist never discriminates. Janet Jackson and Dick Clark both saw Dre socking Tiarrie in both eyes, which is why Janet has never worked with him.

I"m so glad to finally see Ms.Dee Barnes. Love this interview. She is a very nice and beautiful lady. I knew that Dr. Dre gave a half ass apology to the women he abused; but listening to her relive the abuse he inflicted on her was so breath-taking and sad. Dee giving her views on his apology and the impact of his abuse to her and the problems of migraine headaches that she suffer from the abuse is heart trenching. She has forgiven him which is so great. Dee being an advocate for Domestic Violence is wonderful. For some reason, I see Dr. Dre in a total different light, listening to women that he abused is horrific.If he is sincere and has changed he need to apologize to the the women he has abused individually. Just because he did these horrendous acts when he was young does not give him a pass. The women will carry the scars he inflicted on them for life, even though they have moved on with their lives. I'm not inferring to hold Dr. Dre hostage to his abuse to women, but he needs to know the magnitude of the scars and pain he afflicted on the women. I don't think he understand or even remorsefully cares.
