Timeless track. And how that woman, Lady Miss Kier, was not a huge star after this smash-hit is beyond me. She had everything. And boy, could she GROOVE! Those dance moves are as cool AF.
Totally agree!! Lady Miss Kier is on my Top 3 All-Time sexiest women in music because of her energy, style, fashion sense, and obviously her physical beauty. Everything about her is fire. She was born cool.
Love the b boy track with Q tip as well. 'Get it together' > if you havent heard it, you best take a listen NOW. If Q tip was on a track it was puuuure Hip Hop. Not the crap they spew today.....
@@micahjared8082 That’s subjective. Just because it isn’t your taste doesn’t mean it’s not pure. There are still many rap artists that are still carrying legacies that other rappers did. Are there some rappers that don’t have much flow, swagger, or wordplay? Yes, but just basing modern rap out of those small populations of rappers is a really horrible comparison. Maybe stop being so close-minded when approaching music tastes and stay in your lane. Even if it’s an opinion, you could have worded that a little better… ;)
Yes that's Bootsy and we tore it up back in day in the club. I still dance like her when that song comes on. One of my all-time favorites. Groove is in my heart!
At least for me this was a novelty kind of a joke song in high school! I grew up going to real clubs and listening and dancing to real dance music progressive house real DJs that mixed on the fly with vinyl! No cheesy over produced pop shitty so called club crap lol! I don’t know where you live or what kind of mainstream clubs you went to? But, this is not club music or dance music unless you are clueless of what real dance music is! Yes this is a joke - almost as pathetic as dancing the Macarena lol
Now almost 50 I can say I went to some of the best record release parties best clubs and raves in early 90’s pleasure force renegades better days Toronto eclipse plus 8 Detroit crowbar Chicago ibiza UK Rotterdam so on and on! Sorry but this is hilarious lol
That song would fill the dancefloor at ANY club, party, wedding, school dance, bar mitzvah, whatever...you played this and EVERYBODY would dance, no matter who they were, where they were from, any age, any race, straight people, gay people, everybody. And we ALL wanted to dance like Lady Miss Keir! She tears it up.
This was one of the songs that convinced me to move out of my little town after I graduated high school. I wanted to find people like this so I moved to San Francisco and spent the 90s dancing. :-)
Soon as I saw the song's title I 'd a feeling you'd DIG this joint. It ruled the NYC clubs during the early 90s. The video was mad memorable. So was your initial reaction! Coolness. And YES, that was most definitely BOOTSY!
I listen to this song and remember when I came back to Brazil after living 6 months in Italy. I was 25 at the time. today I am 55. You could hear "enigma - sadness", other great song/Band in that year (1990).
ALL US 55 yr old broads in Da House and you know we are all chair dancing with our girl! I LOVE how she is so into it in less than 30 seconds into this! You know she just got the groove in her heart! ❤️
Someone who moves to the music!! I can never fathom how so many 'reaction' sites have people who just sit still and listen - how is that possible? If you are really loving the music you shouldn't be able to stop yourself from dancing. So you immediately get a hold star for that AND you don't stop the track umpteen times at crucial points - really - save the talking for the end - I can handle the odd 'their crushing it' type comments during the track but not long in-depth analysis (usually completely wrong anyway). Anyway, this English groover enjoyed your reaction to an old club classic - and I appreciate your restraint in all the right places. Sometimes less is more - in fact most of the time less is more. If you fancy trying a female opera singer you can't go wrong with Maria Callas. I promise you won't be disappointed and she had a fascinating life - swallowed a tape worm to lose weight!! Allegedly. Cheers from Sunny Cornwall UK. ✌️❤️
Yes, I danced to this one, When I was less than half this age and less than half this weight. And we were aware then that it was a throwback. But it's a groove... in the heart...
Superb!! Lady Miss Kier is the supreme deal. I used to go see them in clubs when I lived in Atlanta..... Yes that was Bootsy. Also they were good friends with and hung out with RuPaul. Love this song. Pure Joy!!
Jayy! I saw her perform live at a dance party in 1991 at Chicago’s Riviera. They had Sunday night all ages house music party’s and she came on stage around midnight. Dressed as a huge flower. Amazing times!!!
BAHAHAHA!!! That is the BEST reaction I've seen to this song! I knew you were gonna love it and you're right, she WAS tearing it up!! This song has been putting people in a good mood for 30 years.... it still has the same effect on me as it did in 1990!! Goes too show the "groove" really is in the heart (well soul)!!! LOVE IT Jayy! :)
DEEE-LITE: Lady Miss Kier (Lead vocals), Supa DJ Dmitry (White guy with the man-bun dancing), DJ Towa Tei (The DJ), The Abstract/Q-Tip (Member of A Tribe Called Quest. He was the one rapping), and Bootsy Collins ("Oh yeah! Don't forget, groove is in the heart! And uh, Deee-Lite has definitely been known to smoke... on stage, that is.")
You are the first reactor I have watched that hasn't tried to find the meaning in the video. I always holler "it's just a huge dance party and that's it" at the screen. I had so SO much fun in the 90s. No regrets! 😁 As always, a wonderful reaction. 💕💕
The riff is from Herbie Hancock's track "Bring Down the Bird " and vernon burch's "Get Up", which provided the drum track and featuring bassist bootsy collins and Q-Tip of A tribe called quest. How the hell they managed to get all that into this track I don't know one of the biggest tracks of the 90's and still sounding freeeeeesh X 😁
This song is literally the day the 80s turned into the 90s. I was there. Love ya Jayyyyyyy! Your vibe energy and groovyness is unstoppable. Your like the 80s turning into the 90s👻
I remember waiting in line to see them in front of a club called Red Square in Houston in the very early 90s. Made friends with the folks in line. What a crazy fun time.
Bonjour Jayy, i hope you are in good shape and good mood too, thank you so much for your musical choice reaction 🎶 i remember well. Kissses you 😘 ❤️ Tony from Paris France
Catchy catchy beat..kind of song that sticks in your head and makes you want to hit that dance floor one more time . thank you...love this song..love going into the way back machine and pullin out the jewels
@@THEJAYYSHOW he definitely did. I was 10 when that song came out and never really appreciated it until I got a little bit older but it did introduce me to P-Funk and Tribe at a young age. Underrated, iconic tune. 🕺🕺🕺
