RIP Chrissy...i remember reading she said she couldn't have chemo or radiation treatment for breast cancer because of her MS. Seems a bit unfair to get a double whammy of diseases.
Singer Chrissie Amphlett passed from breast cancer and before passing would sing acoustic version of this song to promote awareness for women to get regular check ups. Chrissie is an Aussie legend 😍🙌🏼
I remember hurrying up to change the radio station whenever this song came on in the car with my mom.. I could not bring myself to listen to this whirling sitting next to my parents 😆
I remember when this song was huge. One of my favorite memories from high school was when a girl that I didn't even know handed me blank cassette and just said to me "I want you to know this" Absolutely the greatest gift I have ever received!! OMG WHAT A GIRL!!!!
I remember when the song came out. All of a sudden it was played everywhere. It shocked a lot of people. I thought it was fantastic. Just a lady being sex positive.
God Bless The 90's. I was already a Teenager in High School. We had so much more free speech and vivid creativity then and it was glorious!!!!. This Band were innovators and seriously brave. It was like getting the chance to enjoy music from the 70's..all over again.
I was so rocked and shocked as a young man I experienced the Divinyls live at the worlds greatest dance at Flemington markets. Thumbs up if you were there in 1985 .
The 80’s, IROCS, TRANS AMS and el casinos and long hair, what a time to be alive! That’s probably why my daughter was born at 17, oh and ex could be bought at the convenience stores!
Watching you react to this song was both priceless but a bit frustrating. I can see why someone hearing this song and watching the video might think it was raunchy but I wanted to scream “she was a revered female rock idol in Australia! She was someone that artists like Pink looked up to”. RIP Chriissie. Gone too soon.
All the Boys in Town, Pleasure and Pain, and if you're brave "Elsie" the live version of course, Jealous, Human on the Inside. The Divinyls were such a great band....RIP Chrissie
A song you could dance to in high school with your chosen girl and she could sing and act out how she felt about you ❤ Thanks Divinyls and thanks for the honest reaction ❣️
Worked with a guy who used to sing this with the high notes! He'd been in a boys choir as a child and teen. We'd groan and laugh til our gut hurt at the same time. Lol.
The late great Chrissie Amphlett....an Aussie rock legend. The Divinyls had some great music. Check out 'Boys In Town' and 'Science Fiction'.....and more.
Wow memories of this song back in 90's. Mom would refer to this song as the "dirty song" whenever my mom and myself heard this song on the radio or tv. Had massive crush on lady lead singer. I was around 20 years old and my hormones were on fire when I heard this song and seen the original video. Sadly lady lead singer has since past away. 🥺 Love this song.
Chrissy was a model from age 3 to 12 her family didn't have much money so this career helped clothe her. She got breast cancer later in life and then got MS. She was cancer free as january 2011 but did return later and she passed of cancer and MS in 2013. Too bad because she was majorly talented.
The Divinyls were a great Aussie rock group they had a lot of hit here in Australia which I suggest you look up but this was their only US hit. Chrissy Amphlett was a singer, actress on film and stage and even won a battle with drugs and alcohol but sadly pass away from cancer which couldn't be treated because of her MS she is sorely missed.
It most definitely would be a dream come true in every way..to be that blessed. Some people are extremely lucky and can find it. Been looking for it.. all my life. Congrats to all the people who have or do find something.. this beautiful and committed.
This song got them some exposure (pardon the pun) in this country, but their earlier single 'Boys in Town' is by far their best effort I think. Thanks for the upload.
Chrissie Amphlett, just the best. I can't see how any American can be shocked at this song and video, given the long history of the way women are portrayed in many genres of USA music and film clips. Women. clothed, are frequently filmed right at the vulva area, and not from a position of their own power, but from a position of male dominance and entitled free access. I don't see those women as having free agency as I do in this clip, this singer has complete free agency and is deeply immersed in her own pleasure and sexuality. It is just beautiful and unashamed. Chrissie Amphlett, RIP. Your creativity is greatly missed.
Chrissie had a way of carrying herself that has never been equalled before or since. The scary thing is she wasn't even trying. ......and God created woman!!!!!!!!! Rest in peace Chrissie, you are heaven's gain
Love how they used this song in, "Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery." When this video came it had teenage boys touching themselves.😉 Tragically this beautiful, sezy woman died of breast cancer. Sadly this song now reminds women to check themselves regularly. ✌❤🌹
Actually Jayy the song was redone and a video was made with women and famous women who had or going through Breast Cancer. The lead singer had Brest Cancer sadly she passed away in 2013. The song has been adapted as the Anthem for Brest Cancer around the world. But your face. Priceless that look had me in tears.
I fell in love this her and her voice many, many years ago.... she was quite simply stunningly beautiful, immensely talented and exquisitely sexy. Some 40 years later, the fire remains.
Ahh Chrissie what a statement to the American record company's requests to change her image so she said I'll show you sexy. Aussie rock Goddess. Still miss her
I blushed a little for Jayy when I saw what song she was reacting to ;-) While this song got them a boatload of attention, I always preferred to listed to Pleasure And Pain. You could go with 'hooha'...or the B-52's path.... Pineapple! :-D
I'm so worried about the younger generation who view this song and think its spicy and act like OMG. GenX especially the 80's was such a great time. To this day I enjoy being able to say what you think and it is exactly what she is doing.
This was a number one hit in 1990. It was on all the radio stations all over, you couldn't get away from it. Just imagine all the parents (like mine) when their kids ask them "what is she touching on herself?" when this song came out LMFAO
I saw them in concert at a club. Chrissie Amphlet was a great singer and performer. She played at the club just like she was in front of 10,000. R.i.p. you are missed.
An equally blatant and rocking song about white girl thirst is "Right Hand Man" by Joan Osborne. A somewhat less blatant but still very catchy song about the topic is "In These Shoes?" by the late Kirsty MacColl.
