I love it too!! I just struggle so hard finding the time bc 2 kinda little humans, big fluffy needy dog, & 2 kinda needy cats. Oh & a hubby who needs me too once in a while 🙃😂 plus some ME time.... one day I will have tons more time to clean! I know this....
I always wish your videos were longer. You’re one of a few RU-vidrs I watch because you add VALUE to my life. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and way of life. It brings a peace to my mind every time I watch one of your videos.
“Stopped walking around Target as an outing” I’m so grateful to have found your channel. I went to Target the other day with a $50 gift card and I couldn’t even spend all of it. It wasn’t until after I left that it really hit me what a positive affect you have had on my well-being.
I'm from UK so not sure if Target also sell groceries/cleaning products? If so use your gift cards to buy these essentials then you are free to spend equivalent amount on a family outing/trip to hairdressers etc! Occasionally it is nice to have a new piece of home decor though- provided you then donate an old one (or more) to charity. If you are tempted by something ask yourself 'am I willing to donate 1 or more item to charity if I buy this ?' If you answer 'yes' it's yours! Just be sure to clear those other items first 😅
@@gillianm9367 thanks for the input. I only use branch basics for cleaning which they don’t sell. I was hoping to buy a broom but they only had plastic ones, no wood ones. I get all my food through my local CSA’s and Azure standard which is more cost affective among other things. I’m not really a home decor person. At this point I have everything I would want for my home, if anything I need to get rid of more. I think I will go back and either get a few books or maybe a new insulated water bottle. I appreciate your suggestions though.
Um yeah, 5 bathrooms and 5 kids (3 of which are teenagers then my 2 messy babies) so an hour of cleaning is just scratching the surface😂 i love your videos and wish i would have found minimalism as early as you did... working on it and keeping the hope alive! You are beautiful and so is your message. Praise God for His abundant blessings! Keep up the good work momma!
I love being 61 and seeing your wisdom as a young mom. Your family is so blessed to have you. I also love to keep a calm, organized, happy home. My clan benefited as well. I love to learn from all ages. Thank you for your videos. 🌻
I'm so with you about cleaning supporting my mental health. If I have a high daily score for physical energy and a low daily score for mental energy, cleaning is my first go-to, followed by decluttering and then organising. Certainly took me years to get to this, but now I'm so glad I replaced the shopping, partying and getting into heated social media debates, with something so productive.
Cleaning is self love….. yes it is! 👏🏻 Taking care of what you have is therapeutic. It also helps you find appreciation of what you have which brings contentment which helps you stop looking for more stuff. It’s all part of the cycle. There’s a huge difference in cleaning my house versus my sister’s house and the peace it brings afterwards. Same style and size of house. The only difference is clutter and the amount of stuff.
I couldn't agree with you more ... we all need chores. I love cleaning my cottage and actually sit down with a cup of ice coffee and enjoy the cleanliness of it! Love your videos
This video has sparked me to start deep cleaning. I haven’t kept up with deep cleaning in a long time. I clean every day but not the deep cleaning tasks. 1 week isn’t realistic for me right now. Home with the kids, work part time, no family that helps with watching kids, and hubs works long hours. I felt like it wasn’t possible for me to do this with 2 young kids and pregnant. But I’ve started and I’m just doing what I can when I can and making progress each week! Every time I finish something I feel so good and happy!
I'm only 1 minute in and I'm just absolutely loving this video. Your personality is shining through and you are just the best. Cleaning is totally therapeutic! I told my therapist, "you can tell me to do anything but don't tell me to hire someone to clean my house." 🤣
Oh! A couple of months ago i made a plan to do that, and i was doing it, but now i realise i had forgotten my own plan! My bestie was sticking something in my fridge and she mentioned there was a lot of food in there. I guess it's time to start over with a good clean!
Ite 6 A.M just finished the whole kitchen dishes done and moped and folded a load of laundry and doing another it feels so good getting rid of things best decision I have ever made love this video you go girl.
Love this video! I can totally relate and agree that when i have a tidy home i feel at peace 👍it is really an act of self love, i noticed too that if im stressed i usually like to organize, declutter , & clean it helps me to calm my thoughts 👍
I find it really helps my dishwasher to run it for about ten minutes with no soap, stop the cycle making sure it drains 100%, and then start the new cycle with detergent. The extra hot water rinse really seems to help it do its work better. I do this most of the time. Pouring boiling water into it and putting that through the drain cycle is also good to clear it out.
Thank you for this video 🥰 When I needed to declutter or clean my home, I listened to your minimalist playlist, and it keeps me motivated during tidying. Thank you for everything you share. ❤️
I love this video! I love cleaning as well (maybe not LOVE) but I always feel good after a deep clean. I also do small cleans every single day (the dishes, wiping down surfaces, sweeping, tidying the kids toys, etc.). I do this not because I necessarily enjoy it, but because I love the way I feel afterwards.
I love to do a massive, deep clean just before summer and just before Christmas. My son comes home from university over summer and Christmas and by doing this it means I can do light, quick cleans while he’s home. So I get more quality time to spend with him.😊
Loved every second of this video! It’s so true! Last year we moved to a smaller house and had to downsize and declutter even more and it makes cleaning and tidying so much simpler and easier! Now I look back and wonder why it was always such a struggle, when now it’s so simple and fun and easy and quick to do! Thank you for sharing this video! ☺️
I love this, it's so motivating. I feel like I'm just on the beginning of this journey of changing my mindset about cleaning. It used to be a horrible chore that I tried to avoid and slowly I start having moments of enjoying it, but it's still on it's way.
I love Your Video!!!❤❤❤I too have fallen in love with cleaning. After decluttering, I thought I was loosing my mind because I was starting to look forward to cleaning every evening!!!😊😊😊❤❤❤ Thanks for this Video!😊
I agree with you. I love to let my mind unravel the tangled of the day over laundry or washing dishes. This is one of the highest pay off for effort invested self care things. Plus it’s available to ANY budget or situation.
Love you videos! I use to be the same way when I was in my teens and 20s I would throw everything in my closet and forget it about it lol! And bought so much stuff! And when my husband and I got are first apartment, I saw what it was turning into, and loved cleaning since!! Super grateful I found your channel!!
I think you did great. I wish I could have time time and energy to clean like that but I have four children at home with me who don't help me clean up like that and I'm pregnant so I'm so tired, drained, and sick lately. Kudos to you
Just now sitting down and catching up on some of your videos. I had an unusually busy week last week and didn’t have time for my home. I decided to force myself to go through the week without being quite as strict as I usually am about it, and I did ok. Until about half an hour ago, I snapped like a stretched rubber band and frantically got a grip on the house. My husband is amazing and jumped to help and it took the two of us around 15 minutes to fix a week’s worth of mess and👌🏼 as stressful as it seemed, I’m reminded how happy I am to be in a place that my house at its absolute messiest, can be guest-ready in less than half an hour. Sitting here watching this video laughing because how you described clutter making you flying down a hill with the wheels falling off was me half an hour ago. 😂❤
After seeing how simple your bedroom layout is I moved out my night stands, don't need them. Less items to clean. Only bear essentials in there now. Thanks for the inspiration.
Love to clean! Minimalism keeps is that much more simply and enjoyable! We also homeschool, so we like to keep on top of the messes (art/projects/gardening) when we finish school everyday! Loving your channel!!! God bless you and your sweet family!
I think it is so freeing to also know that if you do small cleaning tasks every day like a load of laundry (in my case) nothing gets so big or overwhelming and you always have a “drop by” ready house. As a mom of two small children this was critical to achieve so I could still be hospitable and not feel resentful towards myself for being a slob! Also thanks to my mom for teaching me right! Love your videos Madi and your floral dress! I want one too! 😊
I feel you! This is what I thought. The nice tasks of cleaning and decorating are so nice, but I am overwhelmed by the hard stuffeveryday..l washing washing rubbish, cat loo , tidying up..
This came as a recommendation and I'm so glad I found it I just got done dealing with cancer and when I say this is a realistic video a week of cleaning that's what's I love about the video a different day so something different ty so much 😊
Thank you for reminding us of the importance of loving our home and caring for it! It can be really tiring for the mind and body to live in a messy and cluttered space..
I just finished my fourth round of decluttering. I had to do ir in rounds to strengthen my "donate" muscle. At each round, there were things I thought I couldn't let go. But eventually I did it. I deep cleaned every room. Felt so hood to have space.
Think of how much stress and drama could be saved if we all took to cleaning instead of shopping!! My family of 6 (4 girls ages 10-6 mos) are gonna travel the US this coming year in an RV following my husband, who is a travel nurse. Less space and things to have to clean. Taking the Shark mop because it is awesome!! I put vinegar in that as well to deep clean and keep the mop from clogging. Do you recommend your grass broom? I want a pretty AND functional broom to hang on a wall in the RV. LOVE your Channel. Romanticizing my beautifully boring life. I will just put on your Playlists while cooking or playing with my girls. I almost bought my girls that wooden rainbow puzzle but then remembered your advice with toys. I wish I was this wise at your age. Have a beautiful day
Your video totally inspired me and I got my partner on board! We decided to start in the bedroom, and what started as decluttering and cleaning ended with dado rails being pulled down, plaster coming off the walls.. and a lot more cleaning to do 😂
My husband and I get that same itch this time of year. Ours is tearing out carpets and a closet and a shower to make space for things that will become daily self care. Like a hot bath after work for me and tall storage for him. Daily improvements that over the course of our life really add up. I wish we could see pictures of your progress. 💚
Dancing Madisun is my favorite! Love seeing that side of your personality!! This video is so great. I already have your course but this helps supplement in. Love seeing the day-to-day cleaning!!
So glad you made this video! I have been rewatching other cleaning videos you have done in the past recently. 2023 is my year of mastering cleaning and moving further into non toxic products!
It looks amazing! I’m not sure we can get hold of it easily in the U.K. - I’ve had a wee look before but will look again. I’ve used Dr Bronners before but wasn’t as effective as I had hoped. Thieves is another option which we get over here!
For baking soda and vinegar combo in the dishwasher, remember that that a chemical reaction can occur that is corrosive to rubber and plastic, which can damage the seals on the door and parts of the drain.
I LOVE minimalism. I'm very minimalist, but I have 4 kids. My oldest daughter is a maximalist. She likes to hold onto EVERYTHING. How do you deal with this? It's a constant fight with her to keep her room clean because she has so much stuff. Thank you! Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. I wait for them to come out!!
Try giving her parameters. She can hold onto say any toy or sentimental item that fits in a particular bin or bins. Also teaches her life is about making choices. Maybe show her by volunteering that there are other kids in need that would appreciate some of the things she no longer uses.
Wonderfully peaceful. 💚 i agree, cleaning is so therapeutic and those mindless mundane tasks help with our mental health for sure. Beautiful home, thank you for the lovely video
I’m so stinking thankful for you. Jesus has blessed me through you. Thank you for being salt and light. And for using salt and light!!!!! Blessing from SC
I had put this video on my ‘watch later’ list but before I got to it, I called to check on a friend who had a bad fall and broke her leg about 6 weeks ago. Even though healing has slowed her down, she still has a great attitude. She has always been a great housekeeper, cook, gardener, and loves to walk and exercise. While we talked on the phone, I slowly began pulling out cleaning supplies and started scrubbing around the base of one of my bathroom sink faucets with a toothbrush. Before we hung up, I had cleaned and organized that half of my double sink vanity and thoroughly cleaned my toilet, inside & out, including scrubbing away the hard water streaks in the bowl with a pumice stone made for this that I bought 2 mos. ago. Then I cleaned the floor all around the toilet. While I was at it, I also cleaned the bathroom scale, emptied the trash and replaced the liner. After all that, I was pooped, but it looked and smelled so good it reminded me of how things looked & smelled after my mother had been cleaning. It felt so good! When you said, “I’m with you, but I still don’t feel like doing it,” I thought, “That’s just how I feel!” The struggle is real. I grew up in a clean home and enjoyed living in a clean home. I’m not feeling great about myself right now, so like you, letting things pile up and become a mess may be a reflection of how I’m feeling inside. BTW, I feel the same way about exercise and cooking. I just don’t want to. I sit in my apt on a beautiful sunny day (or a rainy day for that matter) and enjoy looking out the window but have no desire-NONE-to go out and take a walk and be in nature. I also don’t want to cook. I buy healthy meals I can microwave and add a mix of healthy and not so healthy snacks. Anyway, I’m at the very beginning of your video but couldn’t wait to tell you how happy it’s making me feel! Maybe I’ll start wanting to do all these things and more! Thank you!👏👏👏
Stumbled on this channel just now and love, love, love it! I’m a Christ-loving, get rid of it-clean it up, keep it simple homemaker. I also enjoy cooking, eating and sharing my own food. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos 😊
As an adult female with ADHD, I’m a visual person. I enjoy seeing appliances I don’t constantly have to put away and take out because they’re used frequently, if not daily. My kitchen is small, so as soon as I can afford it, I want to get one of those “coffee station” things with a built in outlet to store stuff on, and be able to have them plugged in over there, so I can have more surface cleared off for cooking, and still have out the things I use every day like my instant pot(s) and blender (for bulletproof coffee that I have as my first “meal” of the day.) I think that would be better than trying to fit a kitchen island of some sort in here, so the kitchen could still feel like a welcoming and less cluttered environment. Im all for functionality first. Never understood the idea of having a bunch of random decorations other than plants and paintings/photos.
Well, okay, RU-vid, maybe you do know me...I found this video by a youtube recommendation, and girl, you are singing my song. I agreed with everything you said, and I'm so glad you shared this...Thank you!
Yes, the big white pot! I had seen yours in another video and wanted to tell you "you can get that out with vinegar" but didn't want to be bossy or nosey. LOL. But seriously, I thought mine was stained forever. I filled it to the top of the stain with vinegar and let it sit for a couple of hours....tiny bit of elbow grease....and it sparkled like new! :-) Okay, I need to go clean something. Thank you for all you do. I look forward to every new video you make.
Katie- I have a couple lists on my Amazon Storefront for kids toys/books and if you look at some of my videos, I do talk about my philosophy on it all. Thanks for watching ❤️
Absolutely love your content. We are a home educating home as well. I’m a mama of 4 (17,15,11,5). We are 6breakingloose here on RU-vid. We are getting back to getting videos out soon. Took a break for awhile. You are an amazing person and mama and love watching all of your content. I agree less is more. Can I ask where you purchased your bed frame. I absolutely love it.
I love cleaning. Yey! I so agree that when you have little, there is not much time to take to clean. About 12 years ago a woman asked me, "How do you have time to do all these hobbies of yours? I feel like I am cleaning all day long." I was like, "Well. . .my home is small and I don't own much, so it goes faster. You can also choose to clean different rooms on different days." She never heard of doing that. I see you do that too. :)
First time watching your video and love it 🥰 ..It’s realistic aesthetic and relaxing. I also love how you enjoy the moments.. I believe slow living really keep our well-being healthy. Also good for creativity.
