These guys have quite a few rockin' deep cuts. Here's my 5 favourites: 1. Nobody's Fault 2. No More No More 3. Combination 4. Critical Mass 5. Lightning Strikes
My two absolute favorite Aerosmith songs "Nobody's Fault" and "Round and Round" Followed by "Spaced", "Kings and Queens", "Seasons of Wither", and ""Lord of the Thighs"
Chip Away The Stone (Live Bootleg), Lightning Strikes (Rock In A Hard Place), My Fist Your Face (Done With Mirrors), Hoodoo Voodoo Medicine Man (Pump). No Surprise (Night In The Ruts).
Three Mile Smile (Kick ass riff fest plus quirky time changes) Get It Up (same as above) Moving Out (that's deep maaaan) Bright Light Fright (Short and rockin, Joe on lead vocals) Nobody's Fault (H-E-A-V-Y)
I’ve seen Aerosmith in concert about 30 times and they played “Movin’ Out” often, Tyler would introduce the song saying that it was the first song he an Joe Perry ever wrote together. 1. One Way Street 2. Woman of the World 3.Combination 4. Cry Me a River (cover) 5. The Farm (Nine Lives)
I got to see them on their Permanent Vacation tour, with GnR opening for them. Aerosmith blew GnR out of the water. The show took place at Compton Terrace in Phoenix. Kick ass show. Stared with Back in the Saddle, and they never let up. Perry rocked it, Bradley killed it, Tom was awesome, Joey crushed it, and Tyler was phenomenal. What else can I say
I saw Aerosmith on the PV tour for the first time, and that was THEIR BEST ...so much energy, Tyler did a backwards flip and even cussed somebody out for throwing a bottle on stage. The crowd was SO truly into Aerosmith.. even on Pump, Get A Grip and Nine Lives tour, the crowd was not nearly as enthusiastic as during PV tour. A guy rushed on stage was removed by security.. lots of things like that. show was in '88 right before they released Rag Doll as a single, as I recall.
Adore this band. Can’t even begin to make a top 5, so here’s a bunch Movin’ Out Critical Mass Get it up Taste of India Heart’s done time Magic Touch Hangman jury Permanent Vacation (song) My girl Young lust F.I.N.E Get the Lead out Nobody’s fault Combination Home tonight Round and Round No more no more You see me cryin
Mine are 1. Rats In The Cellar 2. Nobody's Fault 3. Milk Cow Blues 4. Spaced 5. Combination 6. Seasons Of Wither 7. Chiquitta 8. Cheesecake 9. Round & Round 10. Rock In A Hard Place(Cheshire Cat) 11. Jig Is Up 12. Reefer Head Woman
''Make it'' , great choice! "Adams apple", classic jam, interesting lyrics. My deep cut- "Lick and a promise". I think the album "Rocks" has 3 or 4 excellent deep cuts.
My deep cut's: Movin' Out from debut - great blues based on hard rock Bone To Bone from Night in the Ruts - fast sharp energetic Crash from Nine Lives - fast driving, the sounds are booming, one of the sharpest songs of the group Shela from Done with Mirrors - very fun funky rocking Lord Of the Things from Get Your Wings - a great track with an expressive rhythm Pete's looking forward to something about Dire Straits. I think it's the only band you haven't even mentioned. Thank's
My Top 10: - Darkness (Done With Mirrors) - Combination (Rocks) - Lightning Strikes (Rock In A Hard Place) - Sight For Sore Eyes (Draw The Line) - Walk On Down (Get A Grip) - Bone To Bone (Night In The Ruts) - Simoriah (Permanent Vacation) - Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man (Pump) - Think About It (Night In The Ruts) - Bolivian Ragamuffin (Rock In A Hard Place)
1. Movin’ Out (Aerosmith) 2. Adam’s Apple (Toys in the Attic) (Also my favorite Aerosmith song overall) 3. Nobody’s Fault (Rocks) 4. Critical Mass (Draw the Line) 5. Chiquita (Night in the Ruts)
Aerosmith: Make It, Movin' Out Get Your Wings: Lord of the Thighs, Spaced Toys in the Attic: Uncle Salty, Round and Round Rocks: Nobody's Fault, Lick and a Promise Draw the Line: Milk Cow Blues, Sight for Sore Eyes, Critical Mass Done with Mirrors: She's on Fire, Gypsy Boots, The Hop Permanent Vacation: Hangman Jury Pump: Young Lust, F.I.N.E
The Pearsinator Interesting...I never heard either of those on the radio. I was aware that Lord of the Thighs was a fan favourite but didn't realize it got radio play. Both are great tunes!!
The Pearsinator Yeah that's true! I live in Canada and rock radio is pretty limited in my part of the country. So mainly what we get from the earlier records were: Sweet Emotion, Dream On, Walk this Way, Same Old Song and Dance, Dude Looks Like a Lady, Rag Doll, Angel, Train Kept a Rollin' etc...
Make it is a great song. They did play it live, but as of 1976-77 it had disappeared from setlists. Killer live track, you can experience it on a number of bootlegs out there (Boston Garden 1975/04/19 for instance).
No More No More is one of the greatest rock songs of all time. It's just incredible. You cannot get it loud enough and it just moves you each and every time. I never get tired of it. Combination - what can you say? It's incredible all around. Dark and foreboding and out of control
What Kind of Love Are You On - Great rocker off Armageddon, I HATE the ballad, but this song is a fav! Taste of India - another very fun indian influenced late career off their last album worth checking out IMO Voodoo Medicine Man - the bass work in this one always blew me away and HEAVY The Movie - a rare instrumental and its very dark, always loved this one! Krawhitham - very rare 1975 instrumental from Pandora's Box - just a great jam session
Milk Cow Blues - Perhaps the best and most under appreciated song in their catalog. The Hand That Feeds - More vintage stuff from "Draw the Line" Round and Round - Super heavy ...Tyler is amazing on this. Get the Lead Out - KILLER riff..and Joey Kramer's drumming is awesome! I Wanna Know Why - Perfectly crafted Hoodoo Voodoo/Medicine Man - the best track on "Pump" and could have easily fit with their vintage stuff in the 70's Taste of India - Something about this is addicting. It just plain rocks! Lick and a Promise - Are you kidding? This would be the masterpiece on a weaker album. Sick As a Dog - Groove, Attitude, Raw...spectacular! Nobody's Fault - Epic.....Epic...Epic...
Posting before watching so apologies if I duplicate either list: Big Ten Inch Record - Toys In the Attic Mother Popcorn - Live Bootleg Push Comes To Shove - Rock In A Hard Place The Movie - Permanent Vacation Taste Of India - Nine Lives
Aerosmith - A band I take for granted... As they have almost always been there pumping out great music! Somehow striking cords while multiple generations. Not being in the news with overdoses, scandals, etc. but with great music by great musicians(every member) with great production. Top 5(3) Rock bands of all time!
Sight for Sore Eyes Darkness My Fist your Face Permanent Vacation Monkey on my Back Aersosmith is one of the bands where you can just completely ignore the big hits (especially from the mid 80s stuff going forward) and still have a BOAT LOAD of legit great songs. Fantastic band.
Another great Jack and Pete show! Thanks, guys, for digging through the Aerosmith catalogue. No choices to add since yours seem on target. Get Your Wings was the first Aerosmith album I bought so glad to hear Pete is enjoying it more as the years pass. And Jack's choice of Simoriah was great and he was spot on - strange title but great song! Thanks again for an entertaining show.
Thanks very much, John, although I regret not having those photos properly loaded prior to the taping. Oh well, you got to see Rick Neilsen's 5 neck guitar as a bonus, lol.
Seasons Of Wither - Get Your Wings No More No More - Toys In The Attic Combination - Rocks Joanie's Butterfly - Rock In A Hard Place Gypsy Boots - Done With Mirrors...underrated album.
It only took 40 years, but they're finally playing Kings And Queens on local radio here in Bismarck, ND. Literally the FIRST times I've heard it on radio here were all within this past year. Stranger yet, it's not being played on Classic Rock radio, but rather on the Current Hits hard rock station.
My top 5 Aerosmith deep cuts are: 5. Bolivian Raggamuffin-Rock In a Hard Place 4. Mia-Night in the ruts 3. Critical Mass-Draw the line 2. Jailbait-Rock in a hard place 1. She’s on fire-Done with mirrors Honorable mentions: Prelude to Joanie/Joanies Butterfly-Rock in a hard place Bright light fright-Draw the line No Surprise-Night in the ruts
Aerosmith deep cut diving is a treat! I cut my teeth on early Aerosmith. There are so many great tracks on those albums! In the order of significance to my development as a burgeoning rocker: 5) Lick And A Promise~Rocks 4) Woman Of The World~Get Your Wings 3) Moving Out~Aerosmith 2) Bone To Bone(Coney Island White Fish Boy)~Night In The Ruts 1) Combination~Rocks (Honorable Mentions: Get The Led Out, Rats In The Cellar, Sick As A Dog~Rocks)
Geez, so many awesome deep cuts from that band: Uncle Salty, Get It Up, Cheese Cake, Bitch's Brew, and my all-time favorite Aerosmith song, Combination.
Let's see: Write Me a Letter (Aerosmith) - My favorite from the album, oddly enough. Little nasty groover hidden away on here. Round and Round (Toys In The Attic) - Heavy, lumbering slow-grinder. Sick As A Dog (Rocks) - No comment. Just check it out. Gotta Love It (Get A Grip) - Underrated, raunchy number. EDIT: Originally chose Fever from Get A Grip, but found out it was released as a single.
Aerosmith Deep Dives One Way Street- S/T Spaced- Get your Wings Round and Round- Toys in the Attic Combination- Rocks Milk Cow Blues- Draw the Line Bolivian Ragamuffin- Rock in a Hard Place Shela- Done with Mirrors Reefer Headed Woman-Night in the Ruts Eat the Rich- Pump Kings and Queens- Draw the Line.
"Seasons of Wither" from "Get Your Wings" (1974) "Rats in the Cellar" from "Rocks" (1975) "Nobody's Fault" from "Rocks" (1975) "Bolivian Ragamuffin" from "Rock in a Hard Place" (1982) "Taste of India" from "Nine Lives" (1997)
I feel bad for you two 😔 ruts and hard place were guitar heavy and heavier in general than the previous albums. also stevens vocals were as diverse as they had ever been
Having seen Aerosmith many times over the years the first being 1980 with Jimmy Crespo on guitar, In the moment I would choose 1. Gypsy Boots 2. The Movie 3. Bolivian Raggamuffin 4. Chiquita 5. Shame on You. Plenty of solid Hard Rock!!!

November 2001/ MEADOWLANDS/ East Rutherford NJ. Was wearing an 🇺🇸 American flag hat right after 9/11- Steven Tyler grabbed my hand 🖐 held it for 35/45 secs 🎤 singing/ when I pulled away/ I got cut my one of his massive rings. Lol. Had scar for a while/ but that was my UP - CLOSE & personal AEROSMITH experience! Great 👍 show guys. Thank you !
Sea of Tranquility Thanks PETE. I kind of got embarrassed: holding my hands up so long in front of 18k? So. / I pulled away. Bled the rest of the night/ but WAS worth it ! Lol
Jack, don't pay attention to any criticism; your input is interesting and I like to hear your perspective. If I wanted to learn which songs were played the least in concert I can look that up like you did, I'd much prefer hearing you opinion. An opinion is never wrong (since it's your opinion), and it can be enlightening to the viewer. I'm enjoying this series. Keep it up, Pete!
Yeah Baby the Boys from Boston FINALLY!!!..Pete Thanks. FOR ME really no deep cuts LOL. Their BEST DEEP CUT comes from NINE LIVES on the Australian Import cd a Perry Tune called FALLING Off Heavy Heavy Rocker up there w Combination great Perry Guitar 1.From Aero- Moving 2.Get Your Wings- Spaced, Woman Of The World, Pandora's Box 3.Toys In The Attic- Adams Apple, Round And Round, You See Me Crying 4.Rocks- Combination ,Nobody's Fault, Home Tonight 5.Draw The Line-Critical Mass ,Bright Light Fright(The Hand that Feeds This tune is all Mr.Whitford, Perry was no where to be found during this recording day) 6.Night In The Ruts- No Surprise, Chiquita ,Cheese Cake ,Think About iT this is one of their heaviest Guitar tunes great solo 7. Great choices guys, here some ones you didn’t pick. Seasons of Wither - Get Your Wings Woman of the World - Get Your Wings No More, No More - Toys Uncle Salty - Toys Combination - Rocks Milk Cow Blues - Draw the Line No Surprise - Night in the Ruts Think About It - Night in the Ruts The Hop - Done With Mirrors Young Lust - Pump Monkey on my Back - Pump Voodoo Medicine Man - Pump Walk on Down - Get a Grip Nine Lives - Nine Lives Street Jesus - Music from Another Dimension One of my All - Time Favorite bands! Love their whole catalog.
Nobody's Fault is THE song that played at MAX volume every time. The moment where the song breaks from the funeral dirge-like organ intro to the earthshaking guitar quake is the one that always gives me the most Aerosmith rush possible. The solos in this song are phenomenal! And, yes, Pete, the solos in this are from Brad Whitford!
I love your stuff. If you are ever looking for another theme, what about reviewing underappreciated albums by bands. I thought about this after your Fleetwood Mac deep dive. Rumours is obviously there masterpiece but an album like Tango in the Night is amazing and under appreciated in there overall catalog. Yes, it has some popular songs, but look at how the same 5 people who created Rumours made a modern (for the time), experimental, and expansive sound. You could dig deep in the albums and discuss each song and why the albums are underappreciated when viewing a huge bands entire catalog. Anyway, maybe you have done something like this in the past. Sorry to take up time that didn't have to do with aerosmith ha. Thanks again for your work!
This is a good idea IMO. Another idea I think might be influences, where a popular artist is clearly influenced another, older (but not always) artist worth checking out and point to a few key tracks that show the influence. A little more work likely, but just pitching an idea for you...very much enjoying the deep cut dives, no need to change that any time soon in my book!
saw aerosmith back in their 'strung out' days at the nassau coliseum with golden earring opening for them...i believe it was the rocks tour...great gig....my favorite aerosmith album has always been 'get your wings' and a 'kind of' deep track i love is 'seasons of wither'...also from 'a night in the ruts', i love their version of 'remember (walkin' in the sand)'...and on 'honkin' on bobo', there's 'jesus on the main line'....good cuts gentlemen...peace....rocky
Chip Away the Stone is my favorite Aerosmith tune and definitely a deep cut that they rarely play and hard to find. You see me crying off Toys in the Attic is another. As far as newer Hearts Done Time and Magic Touch are my favorites off permanent vacation vs other stuff that has been played to death.
Yes, Cheshire Cat & Jig Is Up are terrific tracks ignored by the band when playing live...painful memories of their late '70s early '80s estrangement, no doubt!
"Crash", from the Nine Lives album!! Had this absolute blazer been burning up the earlier albums, it would be seen as one of their all time classics. It is fast, furious, and smashes and crashes thru the senses like a turbo charged motorcycle roaring into Hell. It is bloody brilliant and completely deserves to be heard. I think the title track, "Nine Lives" itself is great. Real ACDC charged rock out. Elsewhere,I love "Hearts done Time" and "The Movie" from Permanent Vacation. And from the 70s- Seasons of Wither is one of their all time best songs. Haunting and deeply reflective.
1. Round and Round (Toys In The Attic) 1975 2. Nobody's Fault (Rocks) 1976 3. Three Mile Smile (Night In The Ruts) 1979 4. Voodoo Medicine Man (Pump) 1989 5. Taste Of India (Nine Lives) 1997
Combination Nobody's Fault Cheesecake Sight For Sore Eyes My Fist Your Face Honorable mentions: Hangman Jury Make it Movin Out Mother Popcorn ( James Brown cover ) Lord Of The Thighs Seasons Of Wither Sick As A Dog
Tough job finding REALLY DEEP cuts from the Aerosmith early catalogue ... I regret not being able to include Kings And Queens, since it had been released as a single. Also Seasons Of Wither, since Pete (correctly) mentioned that it has been played live a lot ... But I’ll give it a shot : 5. The Hop (from Done With Mirrors - absolutely thunderous boogie from hell!) 4. Sight For Sore Eyes (from Draw The Line - included in Live Bootleg, but fell into obscurity since) 3. Sick As A Dog (from Rocks - included in Live Bootleg, but not played much ever since) 2. Lick And A Promise (killer tune from Rocks, not played live much after the late 70s) 1. Lord Of The Thighs (from Get Your Wings - included in Live Bootleg, but not played as much as it should later on!) P.S. In case of objections, I will throw Combination from Rocks !!
1. Make It 2. Uncle Salty 3. Lord of the Thighs 4. Rats in the Cellar 5. Young Lust 6. My Fist Your Face 7. Let the Music Do the Talking 8. Shut Up and Dance
1. Rats in the Cellar (Rocks) 2. Movin' Out (Aerosmith) 3. Uncle Salty (Toys in the Attic) 4. Bright Light Fright (Draw the Line) 5. Make It (Aerosmith)
Pete, the only good thing about COVID 19 is that I discovered your channel. I really enjoy your take, the fact that my favourite bands are Rainbow, Deep Purple and Whitesnake sure doesn't hurt. You've encourage me to go back and relook at bands I thought I knew ( i.e. Scorpions). I recommend you go back and listen to Aerosmith's Pump (ie Hoodoo/Voddoo Medicine). FYI, Max Webster top 3, 1 - Mutiny Up My Sleeve, 2- High Class and 3- A Million Vacation
1. One Way Street 2. Nobody’s Fault 3. Seasons of Wither 4. No More No More 5. Critical Mass I picked one from each of the first albums, but there are plenty more!
Seasons of Wither Spaced Chiquita Shame on You Lick and a Promise I could definitely mention many more. I heard that they played one an entire show of deep cuts on their residency in Vegas. That would have been a great show for the hardcore fan but not one for the fan that just wants the hits.
All of my favourite deep cuts are from their earlier albums. 1 One Way Street from the debut 2 Woman of The World from Get Your Wings 3 Adams Apple & 4 No More No More from Toys In The Attic 5 Get The Lead Out 6 Combination & 7 Lick and A Promise from Rocks 8 Get It Up & 9 Bright Light Fright from Draw The Line 10 Chiquita from A Night In The Ruts.
Shame on You from Done with Mirrors - Nobody's Fault from Rocks - Adam's Apple from Toys in the Attic - Combination from Rocks - Kings and Queens from Draw the Line
Okay, my 5 deep cuts from the 70s: 1.One Way Street / 2.Woman of The World / 3.Combination / 4.Milk Cow Blues / 5.No Surprize From the their 80s output I would only like to point at "three women" (??): Joanie('s Butterfly), Shela and Simoriah ;-)
First time I saw AEROSMITH was on 2-13-83 @ The MEADOWLANDS/ NJ. With Richie Dufay and Jimmy Crespo/ they weren’t bad / they were horrific! Tyler and CO were SMOKED! Lol
Everybody that saw that tour, me included, has the same review. Pat Travers and Rose Tattoo blew them away. The only reason I went to see them in '87 was because GNR was opening. GNR killed it and everyone agreed that there was no way Aerosmith would top them, cuz we had seen that horror show before. Aerosmith came out and blew the doors of the place, showing the young guns that the old dogs weren't out of tricks just yet.
Back when I was in 6th grade Toys In The Attic had just come out and my brother bought it. I was already a fan of Walk This Way (of course) but he was trying to get me to listen to the rest of the songs (I am so glad he did). Our music teacher at the time allowed students to bring in albums or 45's to play during class in order to broaden our musical horizons. One day it was my turn and I brought in TITA. Everybody expected me to play Walk This Way. I loved that song (and still do to this day; what a fucking great riff!). But I was, and still am, enamored with Round And Round so I asked her to play that one. Because all the kids I went to school with were morons, they complained the whole time. It got to the point where the teacher cut the song short. It pissed me off but I have come to appreciate the fact that they didn't know what the fuck they were talking about and I ended up being right after all!!
10. Taste of India 9. Fever 8. Hoodoo Voodoo Medicine Man 7. Magic Touch 6. Kings & Queens (even though it's on the original Greatest Hits, it's not a radio hit and not a concert staple) 5. Nobody's Fault 4. Round & Round 3. Spaced 2. Movin' Out 1. Make It
One Way Street - Aerosmith Get The Lead Out - Rocks Milk Cow Blues - Draw The Line Chiquita - Night In The Ruts Cheese Cake - Night In The Ruts Three Mile Smile - Night In The Ruts Think About It - Night In The Ruts
We, kids from the 80's, knew for Nobody's Fault through Testament who covered it. They covered it so well that they made this song their own. Thanks for these shows, I even watch shows about bands that I don't like. Shows are pretty informative. Could you do more 80 metal shows , please? some thrash , Power metal, classic metal like Vicious Rumors, Chastain, Lizzy Borden, Agent Steel and all that kind of stuff. Thanks in advance !!!! Say hello to Jeff and Chriss Alo, great guys.
