I have never understood node editing in lightburn until watching this video. Now it makes sense and I know I will find uses for this in the future.

The break becomes the new origin but is connected until you move one of the end nodes, Not sure if it has something to do with tolerances of the spacing of the node by LB or user setting, will have a play when I get the chance. Could also be because until moved both are at same x-y co-ordinates but that could explain why it filled

When you break a node, how is it determined which node is selected to be moved when you move it? For example, one time the right node may move, the next time the left node may be the one that moves.

Very nice…. I did get a couple good tips. Well worth watch the entire video. Question for ya: I watch a lot of my RU-vid on my tv. When it come to your analytics does it make a difference in your numbers TV vs computer? I know if I need or want to make a comment, I have to long onto my computer or phone and then make a comment. Hopefully if I do that it doubles your ratings.

Steve, I haven't found a way to close a open node with a curve or a straight line. I have several other vector programs for my CNC and Vinyl business, and you can do this fairly easily. Say you wanted to break a part of a circle out to get rid of jagged edge. LB doesn't have a easy way to close the nodes in that circle back, unless you do it manually. Circle is a bad example, since you just draw another circle. But I hope you understand what I am trying to say. 🤨
@HoboWithWood
@HoboWithWood 6 месяцев назад
There are several ways to close an open path. As mentioned, closing it manually by connecting the nodes. Using the close path command on the edit menu. Sometimes, using close path with a line, also in the edit menu. Using Alt+J to join shapes. But one of the quickest ways and one of the most reliable, do a zero offset and delete the original.

Hey there, I am a great fan of yours and enjoy watching your videos.I am a newby, thus the stupid questions. Do you know where I can find a list of the meaning of shapes and colours for the nodes. In other words, what does a big square signify, and a small red square? What do the colours signify? I am battling to get lines to join in an existing closed shape. I Was trying to make a puzzle out of the shape of a heart. Also, when I am editing nodes, my undo button does not work to undo while editing nodes. Why is that? Many thanks for all your inputs and help.
@HoboWithWood
@HoboWithWood 5 месяцев назад
I covered a lot of what you're asking in this video. The different shapes and colors of nodes was covered. I covered how to use the undo feature while editing nodes in a previous video. The reason you are struggling with connecting lines to closed shapes, is because you can't. You are the third person in as many days dealing with struggles with puzzles. I will make a video this week on the common hurdles of puzzles. You want to watch this one in the meantime... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vbzhkzXOttQ.htmlsi=rJ3NkHlEyqkJ_m0m

I know this is off topic but if you had to choose only 1 laser, diode or co2, what would it be and which one? I have a 5w genmitsu lc60a and love it, but I would like the ability to do more with more power. I’ve thought about the Monport 100w and also have thought about just buying a larger diode laser. Any ideas? Also I enjoy your videos. You seem like you are getting better and better as time goes on. Thanks again
@HoboWithWood
@HoboWithWood 6 месяцев назад
It depends on what you want to do with the laser. Are you going to be doing a lot of work with acrylic? Any work with acrylic? If so, CO2 is the way to go. If not, I wouldn't touch a CO2. I have one. Thought I needed one. Turns out the only time I turn it on is when I need to work with acrylic. If acrylic is not a must, but you want to make really large designs, you may want the larger work area of a CO2. But if you are going to be like 99% of folks using lasers, a desktop diode is all you really need. I have a 5W laser and I never turn it on. Too slow. You definitely need more power. I have two 22W diodes in the shop currently. I would love to have the 30W module on my Roly MK2. Another thing to consider is workspace. Where are you going to place it? How will you vent the laser? For me. At this time. The Roly Lasermatic is the best laser option on the market. It is all inclusive. Fully enclosed, honeycomb, and air assist with an optional chuck rotary. You will not find a better laser on the market for the money. Here's my link to their site. hobowithwood.com/roly

I forgot to ask. Example: I bought a file online which it not right. I watched the video on how to change the tabs and slots. Let's say the lines of something like a polygon are not the same length and they should be, how can I do it in LB. I have learnt from this video oy you that nodes are highly editable, but I couldn't find a video dealing with distances/length. Is there a way to use length in node mode? Thanks.

@@BigT396 My personal experience with xTool is horrible. Even if they came out with the greatest laser the world had ever seen, I wouldn't give them the time of day. Their customer is service is one of the worst I've ever seen. You can have problems with any laser. But you will have problems with the xTool. And can't get customer service if your life depended on it.

I think the node stayed as a round node as all new added nodes are curves unless specified like Corner.
@HoboWithWood
@HoboWithWood 6 месяцев назад
This is not the experience I have encountered. When I insert a node on a line, I get a corner/square node. When I insert a node on a smooth curve, I get a round nodes.
@chrisgallaher3899
@chrisgallaher3899 6 месяцев назад
@@HoboWithWood I worked it out, it's all about screen resolution, at 3840x2160 the squares are so small even with max zoom they look like circles, but when selected/highlighted they display red which I can see as square and when I dropped to 1920x1440 I could clearly see the difference between round and square. I'll check again next week after I pick up my new glasses and see if that fixes the bug LOL

Do you have heat where you do your show? You always have a jacket on
@HoboWithWood
@HoboWithWood 6 месяцев назад
Not always. Only when it's cold. The house was built in 1901. There is no insulation in the walls. There were four fireplaces in the house. All of which are no longer in service. At some point they were taken down below the roof hieght but not sealed up. So there are four great big holes that lead to the attic which is a direct line in for the cold. I do have heat. But it is cheaper to put a jacket on than to maintain a temperature that doesn't require blankets or a jacket. We just had out first winter storm warning move through. It has been exceptionally cold the last 36 hrs.
