Anyone that is starting SIM racing should watch all these videos from Asetek. Everything they explain is excellent to help you set up your pedals and wheels for sim racing. I wish they were around in 2019 when I first started as all the Sim racers I asked for help and thought I was nuts when I asked them about things like 2 stage braking and how I wanted my brake pedals to feel.

This company is amazing! I made a comment on a video a couple weeks ago about how high shipping costs to New Zealand were for a Forte bundle. They have reduced the shipping costs and provided more shipping options. Thank you Asetek

Elastomer kits for us sim racers, with our feeble leg muscles and frail ankles. 😂 Much appreciated. Truly great advice on braking. I'll give this a shot. I don't have a set of Asetek pedals yet, but I can get the set I got to be pretty stiff. I never tried braking with my thigh, its been all ankle for me. That changes right now.

I would love to see Asetek release a "Brake MOD KIT" to include either a metal compression spring alternative to replace the rubber elastomer or a 1/2 & 1/2 combo of both a short metal spring w/ shorter rubber elastomer This would be awesome to accommodate different braking styles/needs and I believe would make trail braking easier for folks like me that are struggling to dial it in with the rubber. Thoughts? DIY mod kit ideas for any of you engineers out there?

It takes a bit to get used to having never driven a real race car in my life and coming from other, lower end load cell pedals. But! I am really liking these pedals on my first day of use. My lap times are actually a fraction faster and it feels good with the stiff brake.

I love that Andre mentioned kids using sim rigs. I think it would be great for the younger generations to stop playing games with their thumbs and use their bodies and brains to compete. As you all know, racing is much more complex than most think. And even though sim racers can say rude things to one another after a crash, the language used to insult people does not even come close to what players (kids) say to one another in games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I know because I play Call of Duty.

Hi Andre, great video! I am very interested in this kit. I own the Forte pedals. However I am wondering one thing. For the Forte pedals to simulate the second stage, should I than use one of the curve options or should I keep the brake lineair?
@AsetekSimSports
@AsetekSimSports Год назад
The 2nd stage is independent of the software. The 2nd stage is when the orange aluminum piston touches the black cylinder. In a real car the brake is linear. So if your goal is to simulate that, you should keep it linear.

With the default white elastomer am only reaching second stage at around 55-57 bars and not 40 bars. For the black i reach it 35 bars

Question on the Forte pedals - would it be required or recommended to set up a non-linear response curve, given that the load cell is measuring the force from the smaller internal spring and not directly from the pedal face? In other words, once you hit the second stage the increase in measured force on the load cell will be relatively small despite a large increase in pedal force, so would it make sense to set these up with a non-linear curve that "breaks" at the point where you hit the second stage? Then you can get larger variations in pressure while still being in the second stage and just deflecting the smaller rubber pad of the travel limiter and in a way mimic the pressure sensor of the Invicta pedals. Is this doable in the software?
@AsetekSimSports
@AsetekSimSports 6 месяцев назад
The relation is linear, in a real car it is linear so if you want the most realistic the answer is no 👍
@texnorthman
@texnorthman 6 месяцев назад
@@AsetekSimSports Thanks for the quick reply :) Maybe I am missing something in the design, but as far as I can see the relationship between pedal pressure and measured pressure on the load sensor of the Forte pedals will not be linear once you hit the second stage unless the sensor is calibrated with a curve? Correct me if I am wrong but from what I can tell the first stage comprises of compressing the elastomer. Then you hit the bump stop, and you enter the second stage where you are compressing a much harder rubber ring. You will get much less deflection per added kilo of force in the second stage, however the load sensor is still being activated by the internal spring so it will not "know" this, and as such the second stage will be non-linear unless this is compensated for. Edit: I understand how the Invicta pedals are linear because it has a pressure transducer and not a load cell, but the Fortes are confusing me. I should possibly just get the Invictas as I understand how they work more intuitively and love the idea of this two-stage setup 😊
@AsetekSimSports
@AsetekSimSports 6 месяцев назад
@@texnorthman the point is, that you are trying to simulate a hydraulic system. When the pads are squeezing the discs there is very limited movement but just pressure build up and we have taken this in to account already. So you are right, but will exaggerate it by making it non linear.

pushing a brake to 100bar needs the same effort by a driver in a sim cockpit as in a formula car that creates 5-6 G-force?
@VikingRacing1
@VikingRacing1 Год назад
All depends on the bore of the hydraulic brake cylinder. 100 bars can be achieved easily in a static situation if the diameter of the piston is dimensioned for it. In other words - achieving 100 bars of pressure does not necessarily require the same pedal force so comparing real life cars to simulators you need to look at pedal pressure and not hydraulic pressure.
