This is 60's Deep Purple & it's reflected in the song. Nice organ by Jon Lord & Richie Blackmore gets in a nice solo. Of its time , but real good. ✌️ ☮️

This is Mark I Deep Purple Line-up, with Rod Evans (vocals) Nick Singer (bass) Jon Lord (keyboards) Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) and Ian Paice (drums), second album. Maestro Jon Lord was very high important on composing and influence the purple repertoire. He was formed in academic terms, so he loves classical music, and he can't help to write this kind of music along with the rest of the band. Blackmore is a classical lover too, so they easily can do this kind of things. Along with "April" (a track of their Third Album titled simply "DEEP PURPLE") this could be considered a previous to the CONCERTO FOR GROUP AND ORCHESTRA composed by Lord and premiered on september 1969, a piece I highly suggest to review and react. When Gillan and Glover came in, Blackmore took more control about the music and propose a different direction, (Lord agreed) but based on these skills, anything they do is a classical influenced music, well done and well composed. This is a band of extraordinary and ultra talented musicians, I mean Real Musicians, not kids playing three chords on the guitar or playing some simple notes on the keyboard, they were great. The same for bass and drums, these men were super musicians, they knew exactly what they were doing here and in the rest of their albums. In the begining they were taken for a "progressive" band, but they had to invent music on their own terms, that turned out to HARD ROCK, that's what they invented.

"The Shield", from the same LP, is a pretty cool jam. Rod Evans went on to be the lead singer in Captain Beyond, after Deep Purple.

April is a next level song by Deep Purple from the same era .Maybe the best song from MK1!

Hello friends; react to "Mandrake root" from first album of Deep purple ( Shades of deep purple; 1968). For me, the beginning of heavy metal. Greetings from Chile.

Early Deep Purple at the time vocals were done by Rod Evans who later was replaced by Ian Gilluan And Bass Player Nick Simper who was replaced by Roger Glover. Jon Lord on organ and Ian Paice on drums and Ritchie Blackmore on guitar were present at this time and was part of there long history

Speaking of Beatlesque, as you did, Mk1 DP did a very interesting cover of Help. There's a good fooftop film/early video of it here on the toob somewhere.

Denmark. Hanier need to react to this. John Lennon had said he wanted to do a slow version of Help because it matched the lyrics. Beatles could turn a sad song into a gleeful track.

Early 'Deep Purple' here from 1968, if I remember rightly, it's a very different sound from what the would have later in the '70s. Congratulations once again on reaching your milestone of 10,000.

That was a surprise this morning. This is from my oldest vinyl,an original 68 LP. Not a song i would have chosen for you guys. I would have gone for something from their first album, the song I'm So Glad. At the time the band were being heavily influenced by the psychedelic US band Vanilla Fudge. This probably explains why you find unusual cover versions on both bands early albums. Therefore, what about who dud it better: River Deep Mountain High - Ike and Tina Turner or Deep Purple. Or Kentucky Woman Neil Diamond or Deep Purple. Or Season of the Witch - Donovan or Vanilla Fudge?

This particular incarnation of Deep Purple was mainly written by Jon Lord . It was only in MK2 where the rest of the band threw in their ideas , and Ritchie really came to the fore.

Thanks for doing this one. Listen, Learn, Read On from the same album is also worth listening to. This is a Deep Purple that has largely been ignored by rock fans, and by the band in later years. So Deep Purple don't get any credit for the early appearance here of the classical elements in the music, and Blackmore's use of harmonised guitar parts and more jazz influenced playing. Rod Evans was a good writer but limited singer, and it needed Ritchie Blackmore to take control and give the band a specific direction before they really made a significant impact.

Chris looks really confused and torn by this DP MK1 song. There's a huge difference between each incarnation of the band.

Try 'Spring Song' by the band Gryphon. Very folky rocky Kind of song. It's the full 10 minutes long version which is the full studio album Version which should be played . There is a shorter version but this is ridiculous and doesn't do the song any justice at all . The 10m 05s proper version is a must . The first 30 seconds or so is very quiet so don't worry.. Its part of the song.. Just as the ending is. Give it a try.. It's a little different and all genres of music is good to explore.

If you want to hear some real, authentic, anthemic passion, listen to SAHB's 'Anthem'. Harvey's voice cracks, the lyrics are near gibberish, but the feeling is incredible - it's as enthralling as listening to Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma. And Cleminson makes an electric guitar sound like the most Scottish instrument ever created ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wJYftZdexew.html
