Just a little fun we're having with our music loving, wonderful family. We're gonna try some stuff. Any donations to the channel will go towards helping us out of our financial struggles and improving the channel. Thanks
Always liked Toto, one I highly recommend by them is: "Georgy Porgy feat' Cheryl Lynn" it's actually a bit of a Disco track with obviously a Rock flavour.
My favourite Lizzy songs are " emerald, china town, and killer on the lose, and this one topmarks, " lady's and gentlemen, brian downey on drums ". Excellent 🏴 ✌️
The title track from The Cars 3rd album & one on which they were allowed complete " artistic freedom " They'd earned that after the massive success of the first two albums. A solid album & difficult to find as its frequently out of print.
There's no doubt there good, but way to epic for me , i was waiting on " balloon heid" meatloaf to join in, musically top marks, but no fur me 🏴✌️
Mungo done some great tracks baby jump. open up you don't have to be in the army alright alright alright, long legged woman dressed in black totally era growing up in the 70's
Very early song, still sounds great today. Truck on Tyke, Jeepster and Children of the Revolution are worth a reaction 👍. Good to see you back in action
News of the world was a British Sunday newspaper which printed sensationalist stories that were sometimes found to be untrue but people believed them so it was about that newapaper
That is indeed Andy at the end there reading job ads from the local paper. What a great concept for a song. I read that they wanted to add something extra and he literally picked up the paper and ad-libed over the top. For those that don’t know, Happy Eater is pre Little Chef over here in the UK. An old roadside cafe chain. I read an article a few years back (pre internet) where someone at a live gig was in awe at how Sting could play the 16th riffs on a fretless bass whilst singing. Look up the tabs - it’s not an easy one to play! So much energy in this song fully representing a band with ambition.
Could you do a review of Contact by the Police? Another early, out there song. Also uses the key of E. The bass is not very prominent in this song. Has a spacey feel. Would be interested to hear your interpretation 🙏 PS think of this song in a time where the old school telephone was the way in which we communicated with people we couldn’t get to in person. “I’d come on over but I haven’t got a raincoat” You could interpret that as making excuses to not see you in person cause you’re too nervous. Let’s talk on the phone first. Musically it’s a great example of where a three piece creates space in their sound. The guitar style of Andy and drumming of Stewart really come through on their own. Sting cleverly creates the element of surprise in his bass being background in places and forefront in others. It’s a relatively unknown song and perhaps could be considered as a pre cursor in style to every breath? Just my opinion
I love Humble Pie and especially Steve Marriott but I still think the Stones version JUST takes it. The Cocker version is disappointing because I think a slowed down, bluesier version would have suited Joe better.
The LP version is definitely superior to the Woodstock version. At the time there was a very high quality, very clean variety of LSD known as "sunshine" - yellow, orange and blue, which is what all the sunshine references are in the song. Saturday Afternoon is referencing The Human Be-In held in Golden Gate Park on January 7th, 1967. Over 20,000 people came to party, play and celebrate. Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead played along with speakers Timothy Leary (Tune in, turn on, drop out) and poet Alan Ginsburg. It was basically the birth of the Hippie movement. The two male vocalists are Paul Kantner and Marty Balin, who co-founded Jefferson Airplane. When the band broke up Paul, Grace and Marty evolved into Jefferson Starship while Jorma (lead guitar) and Jack Casady (bass) went on to form Hot Tuna.
The album Making Movies was when DS changed direction and became more daring and with a bigger sound..The album is superb apart from the last track...what were they thinking!!!😂
LUV this song! I first heard it on the legendary comp "20 of Another Kind" (UK 1979). The Skids were in good company: that LP also featured the Jam, Sham 69, the Cure, Stiff Little Fingers, Generation X (w/ Billy Idol), Stranglers, and the Heartbreakers (w/ Johhny Thunders)...
he was saying hello to the navy ship.......only in australia mate.....sad that the music world is not aware of how good this band was.....all very talenred and are regarded as national treasures in my country....
Dave was really on it with this track the licks and phrases were amazing,jj accompanying with his gritty bass work, you can tell they were all having fun doing this.best cover ever....i would like to think so.
There is nothing not to like in this song the whole album was a masterpiece. Nobody complained about any reverb or anything else when this song came out.
Tyrannosaurus Rex made totally different music to the later T. Rex. Marc's music at that time was unique to him, dj Bob Harris said you couldn't hear anything else that could have influenced him and you either got it or you didn't. I read that your usual naysayer has piped up again with criticism of something he doesn't understand thinking that all Marc is singing is Debora over and over again when in fact he is simply making sounds with his voice because the band were only a duo and Tony Visconti (producer) recorded basically what they did live with no overdubbing. His lyrics at that time were pure Tolkinesque poetry and hard to understand not only because of his voice but because he used very personal metaphors, the hippies loved him and I was one of them. Beautiful little tunes with mystical lyrics, check out Cat Black (The Wizards Hat) from the album Unicorn 1969, my personal favourite Bolan song and also Afghan Woman from My People Were Fair And Had Sky In Their Hair But Now They're Content To Wear Stars On Their Brows 1968 which was his love song to his wife June Child who always wore an afghan coat, de-rigeur clothing for hippies back in the day. Those lyrics are truly beautiful and the day he left her for Gloria Jones he lost his muse and his music died a very quick death, that Zinc Alloy album is truly dreadful as was everything thereafter.
One could say that if T Rex stuck to this Format of Peregrin Took on Bongos and Marc on guitar they would never had made it bigger than their Glastonbury Hippy following ! When T. Rex went "Electric " The Hippies dropped them , and the rest of the World got to hear a Fantastic Band that were sadly cut short when Marc was Killed in a car crash in 1977 !RIP Marc Bolan .
Splendiffic ! Yes to more Skids . maybe "Masquerade " could be next on this Ace bands to do list ! I like the" Have to buy different Pots for the Oven " I am going to try that " Need another Motorbike for weekends ! Do you think my other half will go for that ? Cheers
Although a decent copy, the Mixtures' version can't compete with the still vibrant memory of getting off work delivering pizzas in the summer of '70 and driving down to the West End in my trusty Austin Cambridge to see my girlfriend and singing along with Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime" on the car radio..
This band combines Beach Boys,Led Zeppelin,ELO,10cc,Queen,The Beatles etc etc they only made 2 albums Bellybutton (1991) and Spilt Milk (1993) Check out Bedspring Kiss
