I had a load of fun doing this along with my good friend and shred extraordinaire, Jason Sheppard, who played his amazing rendition of the organ solo on his Ron Kirn signature guitar. This was a really fun collaboration and Jason was super professional to work with. Not to mention just an all around cool and down to earth person. For the Hammond organ in this track, I am using IKMultimedia’s Hammond B-3X software. It sounds killer and has some really cool sounds in there including a Highway Star preset. I was blown away by this and immediately used it. There are also links in the description if you are interested in checking that out for your own Hammond organ projects by chance. This project took a ton of work and I looked closely at some of Ritchies hand positioning but he never plays the solo the same way live. So I took my own best educated guesses there and took a listen to some isolated tracks. He has a Killer tone happening in this song as well which is worth noting. Be me a week ago. Stumble across old Deep Purple CD and throw it in the Challenger for funsies. Recall how awesome Highway Star is. Make it Challenger's theme song. Listen ad nauseam. Decide to finally learn Highway Star after 20 years of playing guitar. Lament and despair over lack of good tabs available. Days pass. Weeping continues. Remember that you haven't checked in on Mr. Tabs in a week or two. Better see what he's posted. Happiness commences.

I played the organ solo on guitar in the 70s...after hearing you, my version sucks. Never thought you could do the solo on 2 guitars and sound just like Lord...amazing! Congrats!

Yep, this one takes the cake. There are lots of Blackmore want-to-be people on youtube. I think this guy taught Richie how to play it.

I showed Highway star to my 83 year old grandma who used to listen to the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Din Martin and she loved it!
