Live in Montreux 69 is a live album by English hard rock band Deep Purple, recorded 4 October 1969 in Montreux, released in 2006. It was recorded in the Montreux Casino that burned down two years later.

There the first hard rockin shows started ... speed king was called kneel and pray, they werent not as overdriven as in 1970, but... heavy.... jon lord was in construction to reach blackmores raw guitar sound, it takes im some more months to get it, excellent quality show, point 10 on the skale... so good loud and rockin.

Wow! Lord is on fire on Hush - his performance at the Albert Hall was good, but if he'd played like this it would have gone down in history!

Love this! Stockholm 1970 is another great recording that wasn't released until the mid 2000s. Deep Purple is a peerless live band, the best ever!

Stockholm 1970 was released in 1988 mate I have the vinyl and bought it in 1988 I was 16 years old

And Jon playing around a bit with "Eleanor Rigby" during "Mandrake Root." I have a family member who knew Purple from "Kentucky Woman" and "Hush" and she was skeptical that the "In Rock" album I enjoyed was also "Deep Purple."

only ever heard Mark 2's 'kentucky woman' once before on a bootleg my mate had in the early 80's.... Mark 2 were amazing 69 to 71 before the rot began to set in....

I really dig these early shows with the Mark II lineup because you can tell they are all having a blast trying to take it higher, but still genuinely like each other at the same time.
